I have also used it on Google maps and snipped out the houses I have lived in...Could do it for some of the ancestors houses...if they are still standing of course

Love the snipping tool, can copy all sorts of stuff - great for the newspaper archives.

PS - also love the snipe tool for Ebay! I use Auctionstealer. Sorry McB - but you only lose an auction because you didn't bid high enough. I use it because it stops me increasing my bid to outbid other buyers and ending up paying more than I intended. I set my bid with the maximum I'm prepared to pay and then go away and leave it.

Budgie I have tried options and nothing there just don't know how to get rid of frame as you have to click on it to see photo and is no use as a photo album!
Sharron and anyone else if you haven't used the tool it's great (or was) and well worth a go and so easy to use
OK McB your forgiven hadn't read right through the posts ;-)

OMG - I thought you were using a snpping tool to cut rows of stitches - never heard of one before - having read rest of thread I am in complete bewilderment - worse even than Sharron.

Chris I can assure you it is simple if my DIL on f/bk puts on a photo I can cut round the bit of my g/kids (without the in-laws - shh) or just their heads and trans to my pictures/documents . It is so easy click on icon then click on "new" in the box that comes up the page goes dull take the mouse arrow and draw round what you want stop drawing and another box comes up click on a wee icon like a tv at top and add name .. easy !

We don't have e-bay.. but we have Trade me and can set our bidding to gazump the next one up to what ever limit one choses. It is a great option when you cannot be there to bid. Sniping sounds okay to me..

As for snipping that is one of the best things they have provided us with in a long time.. snip streetviews, snip things that can't be saved as a picture and snip things that cannot be copied.. Brilliant tool.

GG - I think it must be fairly new, I'd never heard of it until it appeared when I updated to Windows 7 a few months ago. I don't know if it is possible to add it to earlier versions, but I expect the techies on here could adviser.

It is a useful alternative to copy and paste - and since reading the earlier comments on this thread I experimented with photographs and found it a splendid way of editing and copy bits from them!

I have Windows 8 Elizabeth and it does sound better than
copy and paste, which I might add am hopeless with so
anything simple is OK by me.

Elizabeth2469049 Report 28 Oct 2013 13:45

Emma - if you search "snipping tool windows 8" quite a lot comes up., It is obviously a separate tool - I see it isn't even in the index of "Windows 7 for Dummies"!
