The lethargic boards were the first thing I noticed when I returned from my 2 year break - I was away when the board format changed do haven't got a clue why it did. Before the change people posted, chatted argued and generally had a good laugh and as Bob says the boards used to fly now they barely creep along...why if it wasn't broke did they try and fix it :-\

in the beginning when there were only two main boards the boards used to fly, now with dwindling membership , apathy, and research finished,(up to a point,) with nine boards to choose from........boards refreshing like walking through cold treacle......

not surprised that its slow.......anyone seen Errol? lately,

Budgie Rustler Report 19 Oct 2013 16:24

Hi Prickly sweetie, Oliver`s father is down as a coal miner,
I`m beginning to wonder if he was an itinerant worker say from Ireland.
I reckon the Finch name could possibly be of Irish origin. :-S

Hiya all,
So then! who`s bored and would like to knock down a brick wall for me?
I just cant seem to crack this one. I must be missing something simple and its got me stumped .
Any offers???..

After a few years of research I discovered my mother was adopted at about 6 weeks old so far so good.
Since then I have also found that the adoptees had already got a male child with them, so the boy and my mother were raised as brother and sister.... But I have also found the boy was adopted too.

What I am trying to find are the boys parents... with me so far?
Right... When I saw that the boy`s birth certificate was available I thought good, I can now find out who his real parents are, easy aint it, or so I thought.
I sent for the certificate and great! both the parents names were on it.. Henry FINCH and Alice FINCH formerly Whinting or looks like Whinting to me).
Should be simple from now that I have both names and an address for birth.

Nothing comes that easy in this hobby though does it? lol.
Try as I might I have hit a brick wall .
The boy OLIVER FINCH was born 17 Jan 1908 @ Holmes Yard,Brookhill Lane, Pinxton, Derbys.

He is on the 1911 census as living with his adopted parents under his own birth name and still in Pinxton at different address, but same parish (Blackwell)
The thing is, even with the evidence I have .... I cannot find anything else about Oliver`s parents such as whereabouts, births, deaths or marriage.

Well there you have it, if your feeling bored, amaze me please....
Or, make me look a fool, which doesn`t bother me really, if you come up trumps on this one.
Shane. :-)

DazedConfused Report 19 Oct 2013 14:45

In the past 2 weeks I have only been looking in every couple of days. And to be honest, I think I could stay off for weeks and come back and nothing will have happened.

It is sooo slow on here....

And when something does happen I invariably miss it ..... bums...... ;-)

BarbinSGlos Report 19 Oct 2013 14:33

Back when I was ""with child "" I ate pounds and pounds of Granny Smiths. Every day I would crave for them.

I haven't been able to look at one since 1964 :-D
