ChrisofWessex Report 27 Sep 2013 17:01

Have had pms asking how I am getting on. Well yesterday was THE big day. Oft we went to a small town a few miles away (have not been there for over four years). Was made to practise my reversing - kept looking for rear view mirror!
I passed.

Hit library, and was in five shops browsing and buying. Was gobsmacked at the number of pawnbrokers etc., plus upmarket coffee bars which have mushroomed since my first visit, not to forget the evergrowing number of charity shops.

Four years ago there were 4 places to have a cuppa/snack - now about 10 and some quite large, one money converter - now five - about six charity shops - lost count yesterday.

Spotted a G-plan suite in one window - looked good condition, being nosey OH looked at price for me £175 + a professional clean - there is some bargain.

However I did toot my hooter on my little red scooter at a young man - so intent was he texting and with earphones - was at last minute he swerved.

Maggie I would never bash your shins. OH did mention it was like old times, he would stop to look at something and I had gone!!!

Am sure everyone is getting bored by now but I am beginning to have fun even though as son reminded me that the last thing I drove was a red BMW - difference in size - did enjoy driving that also.

DC - check with supermarket - so far I know Asda, Sainsbury and Tesco have buggies for customer's use.

Our local Sainsbury will bring the buggy out to your car.

I agree with Andysmum

You can get some really small scooters which would be handy to drive round a shopping centre or supermarket.

I should use mine more often...only once this year...it is a midi size and comes apart in about 4 pieces so fits in the boot of my Jeep easily. when HID had a Saab saloon the seat had to go on the back seat

Quote from Chris's first post.

"I have a lovely red portable scooter which will go in the car."

DC - if you had one like that, could it not live locked in your car boot??

I would love a scooter, but due to the locality of our house and access it is impossible. 5 steps into house and once inside nowhere to 'park' one. grrrrr....

So annoying as a scooter would make both our lives so much easier. We could go out more as I would not need to walk and worry about falling over. And he would not need to worry about me. I am the sole driver and still enjoy my driving.

We went shopping yesterday to our local Sainsburys (Greenwich Peninsula) and even with the disabled parking, you have a fair walk to the store. By the time we got back to the car my knees and shins were screaming at me. And today I am in absolute agony. And just walking through the house to the loo is slow and painful.

A scooter would be ideal. :-)
