LOL Stray Kitten, could say that about mine ;-)
Actually I just know my cat Would Never poo in peoples gardens so no problem there, but since we got our Mia over a year ago she was my DIL's but they emigrated to Aus so we were landed with her and to be honest we did not want her have had cats for years but now don't want the bother eg if we want to go away for a couple of days? anyway since we got her neighbours cat which is neglected has decided it wants to live with us what a problem it sits on our door step /window cill bolts in when door is open eats up all the food gets in bed/r windows one storey up so can't open windows in this heat?? and nothing that owners nor I can do to get it to go back to it's own home we triede to chase it away but comes back and now it's attacking our cat and trying to frighten it away. I'm going mad with it. ..... But it doesn't poo in my garden thank goodness . Lindi they don't like orange skins so put down where they are messing might send them off :-(

Well that just goes to prove Stray, that you can't believe everything you hear ;-)

I used to have this persistent problem and it drives me mad. I've nothing against cats, but I do wish they wouldn't come to my garden :-)

If you've put down the stinky garlic stuff , yes it does work, Lyndi, but you have to pay the price, ie it stinks to high heaven!!
They may come back for a little while, as I understand they are creatures of habit and have their set 'route' so you have to persevere and keep putting the stuff down....after a few days they will realise they don't like the smell of your garden and they will go elsewhere.
The main thing to remember is to clear up their mess each time, or they will continue to go to the same area.

Another tried and tested tip is to plant coleus canin all over the garden, the aroma from the leaves is unpleasant to dogs and cats if they brush past (though not unpleasant to humans). Unfortunately it's a bit late in the year to plant these I think, and as they don't winter well you either lose them each winter or have to bring them into a conservatory/indoors.

Unfortunately the pepper stuff you get is no good if it rains, gets windy, or if there's a heavy dew.
I've heard it said that cats don't like anything with a eucalyptus smell so you could try those 'pods' for deterring cats if you really can't stand the smell of the garlic stuff. But the garlic stuff does work!!

:-D :-D Stray - I have heard a cat never uses it's own garden - the one's round here can't be ;-)
If I didn't look after little granddaughter I would put something very prickly on the ground :-)

Lyndi there is a plant that is supposed to work, I;m not sure what it is called but I will try and find out......................it maybe cats away :-S

The electronic device would do for the back George, but there is an open plan part at the front where we also have a problem, only been last six months or so, much worse last couple of weeks. Not noticed any extra cats around ;-)

on a serious note there is an electronic device that stops them from entering your garden, costs a few bob but worth it.

It sends out a high pitched sound that the cats do not like.

Anyone got any tried and tested tips on stopping cats from leaving piles of poo in gardens. Neighbours and I have got such a problem that I am near to deciding that the only way to stop them is probably not legal!!

Man over the road suggested some stuff today, so I went to get some and put it on the garden - don't know if it will stop the cats but I have had to close the windows because the smell of garlic wafting in is overpowering :-0 :-0 :-D
