At 5'10" inches tall I never had really high heels but I do remember buying a lovely pair of kitten heels for 79/11 in old money. I think that's about 3.99 now. When I told my mum She said HOW MUCH? I could feed our family for a week on that.

Now BC *sighs*

You know Hayley would never ever own, let alone wear, a pair of old shoes, no matter how comfy they were!! *tuts and goes to rescue a disastrous attempt at pie-making* :-(

I am going to sue you Hayley, although what I actually said was 'GR was like a pair of old, comfy shoes'. You have embroidered heavily on my words of wisdom and trust you to turn my old shoes into high heels! .... :-D :-D :-D

brilliant Hayley - Eldrick would be so proud of you

my first pair of high heels were from Stead and Simpson and they were green - why green I have no idea, but I remember them well

I love the ones who call someone all sorts for reporting a joke, when they say they haven't even seen the joke in the first place :-D

As for the shoes, never been a shoe girl, I'm more a earring kinda gal

Nice thread topic, but I beg to differ, the site you dream about was Genes Connected................
I think it was a bit of a faux pas when they changed to "RE -united"

but as someone who was once dear to GC might say..........

"Just my opinion, mind"

I bought my first high heeled shoes after spending several very hot days strawberry picking on a fruit farm...I was paid 6p a 1lb & made £15! Had I eaten less who knows...

So armed with my new found wealth I went to Freeman, Hardy & Willis & bought the shoes I had admired in the window for soooooo long.

They were black, patent with 4" stilletto heels & in the shop they fitted like a dream, however, got home & after several forays I discovered I couldn't stand in them let alone walk in them after 20 minutes- sad day...I discovered my future was kitten heels all the way.

As for renewing...I still find areas useful for research. It's sad but chat will never be how it was when it was good but so far has not turned as it did before. It was my first Chat & I have made some friends I will treasure for life & there are some on here who post some amusing & informative posts who's banter I would miss. So for the time being I will remain.

Hayley this thread is a gem, thank you for making me :-D

Perhaps it is also a case of *we ain't what we used to be* Thoughts, feelings attitudes.....in my case have all changed.....Moving on is always difficult, but I find myself on the edge of throwing away my shoes :-)

For the first time I haven't clicked on the renew automatically box. The times they are a changing.

I agree Hayley ... you should join the writers group... of course you would have to put up with my comments and natter when I read them.

You have made me laugh as well...

I slipped over in my boots once when walking around the front of our car and my girls were two little ones sitting in the vehicle waiting... "hey where did mum go?" I was lying on the ground.. got up, got in the car and himself said to me "well you will wear those silly high heels.".... I had on my flat black boots.
