The shops that are providing food vouchers are asda they will not accept the voucher against booze fags or fuel....

The food banks are sent people who require food and thats all we have!!

How demeaning for the beer swilling, fag drinking layabouts that everyone seems to think all those who are on benefits are.

It is disgusting to 'highlight' people in supermarkets etc., by forcing them to use food vouchers. And you can bet that it will not be the cheaper supermarkets that these vouchers can be used in.

Whilst I am all for people who are in need getting help I do not wish those less fortunate than myself to be treated by our government in this was.

All this is is our government deflecting the flak from themselves and the bankers by blaming the poorest in our society for the ills of the nation.

starts off sounding like a good idea depending on how and why it is set up

could also be part of the torys devide and rule policy stigmatising the poor again

Stray Crisis loans have been stopped and all areas are trying to open food banks in areas which dont have them to provide food for people with no money .....

We opened 3 last week and .....................well i cant believe how much one has been needed

First reaction is that it is a good idea. And I sincerely hope any shop exchanging them for drink or cigarettes will be heavily peanalised (as they are for selling drink to minors). Presumably they will have a bar code that won't work against cigarettes, and only work if the food part of the order is enough without the drink (so people them have to pay cash for drink.

Well I would hope that stores were tested like they are with cigarettes and alcohol and hefty fines given for any not complying !!!!

the shops will just swap them for drink and fage
much the same as they did the milk tokens

but its a good idea that will be abused

i think there a fantastc idea, as i no scumbags who fake loosng there purse on pay day, to get crsis loas, and money that they want, usually for nights out,

this may hinder that, altho i feel some might be sold on, n missused that way,

its much better than gving them money to be spent on luxuries :)

I don't see any problem with it - in fact I would go so far as to say it's a good idea :-)

My gut reaction is that I'm in favour of vouchers which can redeemed against food, nappies etc..but not for alcohol and cigarettes.

What do you think ?
