Lord, we thank you that, even in these days of uncertainty and confusion, there is still so much to be joyful about. Help us to focus our thoughts on the good which is being done by those who are helping others through difficult times. Amen.

Today is a special day in the life of the Christian church – Ascension Day.

This is the day when we remember Jesus’ ascension into heaven.
Because the date of Easter varies from year to year, the celebration of the Ascension moves with it. It always falls on the fortieth day from Easter and, since Easter always falls on a Sunday, Ascension Day always falls on a Thursday; it is frequently called "Holy Thursday."

The Ascension is meaningful to Christians as it signifies the end of his work on Earth and allowed him to prepare a place for followers in heaven.

O Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory,
you ascended through the eternal gates to your Father’s throne
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
Since you reign in heaven,
help us not to be bound to things of this earth,
but lift our hearts where you, our redeemer, have gone before;
you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.
Amen.

I have become accustomed to pain I used
used to be given morphine for.
My leg is load bearing, but cattle trucked, the other is
severely arthritic. My pelvis was fractured in four places
in an RTA in 1994. So I'm how they say immobilised.
Sometimes I really miss my car, but I can't have every thing.

thank you for a good laugh as I read your post. Good description, gizmo thing and slider thing!!

Particularly as daughter told me last week that they will be getting a new puppy in a few weeks ........ he's just about 2 weeks now. House name ............. Gizmo :-D

Things are going OK here, still in semi-isolation, but shops are beginning to open, plus hair salons, restaurants and cafes ............. as long as they have developed a good plan for the safety and well being of staff and customers, and that their plan has been approved by WorkSafeBC (employment safety and rules branch).

I'm having a wee bit of a problem with my back, a niggly thing that won't quite go away but is very painful when it comes back, as it did last night when I turned over in bed. :- ( . Hoping that my physiotherapist will have developed a plan and can open soon.

You're OK, perhaps need a holiday.
At times I've been going AWOL, metaphorically, since I crippled myself.

Good morning :-) I did it again didn't I? I went AWOL. I need to be more vigilant and not get carried away with other things before I have visited here. I was actually clearing out behind the appliances in the kitchen - I bought a gizmo thing that lifts items so that you can push a slider thing underneath to make it easy. It worked well and I am happy with the result. :-D

This week I have been thinking about short and sweet and looked at Proverbs and Psalms for inspiration.

Yesterday's thought was on happiness....

Proverbs 16:20 He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.

Psalm 144:15 Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!

Today's thought is about patience

Proverbs 15:18 Hot tempers cause arguments, but patience brings peace.

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord’s help; then he listened to me and heard my cry.

Few words but plenty of meaning :-D

Thank you for the Angel Radio idea - I will pass to my husband - we are both of an age to enjoy this music and I lived through a little of those years.

Have we lost Cynthia again - think she found too much Shaun the Sheep while she was decluttering and decided to sit and watch them.

I like the decluttering theme, though seeing how much trouble I have decluttering my house I am not sure how well I will get on decluttering my inner life, but it has given me something to think about.

Thank you for your latest posts Emma and Kandj. I am not sure I should be thanking you Kandj as I now have Little Things Mean A Lot going round and round my brain. Well, at least it has replaced Shine, Jesus, Shine which has been in my head since yesterday’s Songs of Praise.

There’s’ much to be thankful for today - we are well, the weather is beautiful, I have had a lot of pleasure watching goldfinches on the bird feeders, and the husband of OH’s sister is home from hospital having recovered from a heart attack thanks to excellent care from our beleaguered NHS. I hope your day is as blessed as mine.

How can NASA say it's a brand new comet ? It's been travelling for tens
of millions of years.
Good job it wasn't closer to Earth's gravitational pull.
It was allegedly a Comet that wiped out the Dinosaurs .

De-cluttered!

Of course, once we have de-cluttered our spiritual lives, it may be a challenge to keep it that way! This is not a one-off event, we need to de-clutter on a frequent basis to keep our spiritual lives healthy.
.
As we encounter opportunities to add yet more to our busy schedules, we need to think of how it will affect our spiritual lives and the spiritual life of our family. Will we be able to come closer to Christ or will we end up with even more worries than we can handle and lose sight of Him in all the distractions?

Lord, give us the strength to know what to add to our lives and what to refuse. Help us not to get so busy and tangled up in things that we lose sight of you and your amazing goodness to us. Amen.

The green comet Swan that was supposed to be visible to the naked eye
and pass close to earth wasn't in the news. Was it "fake news" ?
I recall seeing comet Halle Bop over 20 years ago.

I know, and so do ALL essential workers whether in health services,at the grocery store, driving buses, etc etc.

I have said a very grateful thank you on the 2 occasions I've been served in the last 8 (almost 9) weeks, even more grateful than the thank you I've always said. I sometimes despair at the number of people over here who seem to never say thank you to anyone, even continuing to talk on their ever-present phone.

I wasn't criticizing, just offering a different way that we do it over here.

The singing of Oh Canada can be hilarious to watch online, it is quite difficult especially for young kiddies ....... though by no means as hard as the US one
