I defer to your knowledge :-)

Just as well we always ask for a turnip :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Oct 2012 13:18

A swede has orange flesh and a turnip has pearly white.

Swede greens are not as bitter as turnip greens.

'Emma' Report 27 Oct 2012 13:14

Sharron panic over ice has thawed, so Fred can stand
down and adventure will have to wait. ;-)

I don't like the greens either but thought swede/turnip
were the same thing, anyway we like neeps :-D

Emma

Poor Fred ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Oct 2012 13:09

I bought a vege haggis. Won't be doing it again!

Your turnips are our swedes aren't they (originally known as Swedish turnips,as if you wanted to know that)?

I love swede but have never liked turnip, and as for turnip greens,oh dear no!

Fred used to make me eat turnip greens.Payback time has come!!!!!!

'Emma' Report 27 Oct 2012 13:01

ROFL, It would be selfish of him not to pop into the shop
and get that turnip, after all he must be passing one :-D

Bet he will be glad to catch his flight tomorrow for 5pm
kick off. ;-)

Just had a rotten thought!
Tonight we could have Lemon Sole, Lasagne or the Haggis.
I really want the Haggis but we ate the neeps last night!
Haggis without them is unthinkable, but I can't be bothered going to the shop!

May text OH and ask him to get one on his way home from the cinema.
Or is it too much to ask?

He was up at 4.30am to take 2 daughters to Glasgow Airport. ( NFL UK at Wembley this weekend... don't ask!)
He was back by 7.30am and took 3rd daughter on a 2hr driving lesson at 8am.
Home again by 10.10am and both of them left for the cinema at 10.45am
He will be up again at 4.30am tomorrow as he catches his own flight to London
( to join older daughters for NFL UK at Wembley)

Do you think I should ask him to stop at the shop and get me a turnip?

Enjoy Anne, it was Merlin who knows I don't like haggis
and his favourite tipple is a Malt.

On rig changing days here it is a steady stream which we
are accustomed to plus domestic and holiday flights.

EH?
Oh I know why....
Someone mentioned Haggis and Malt further up the thread and I just remembered that I have both.
Tonight should be a good one now!

I live right next to a hospital with a helipad.
About once a week, ( and ALWAYS in the middle of the night) they circle low above my house as they are landing. The noise is deafening.

'Emma' Report 27 Oct 2012 12:06

LOL, Anne, how can you come from a 4x4, to a
helicopter(not a good thing to own at the moment) :-D
to a veggie haggis?

Speaking of helicopters, had to laugh at our local news
stating that they were not safe to fly over water, yet we
are in the flight path and they fly over our house!! :-S

Yes LOL!
Winter before last, sick of skidding around on snow and ice, I was getting a new car. Putting my environmental issues on hold, I decided that I was getting a 4x4.
I needed something that would drive in these conditions.
I had my brand new AWD just one full day when the whole country came to snowdriven standstill..... including me!
Oh my brand new car handled brilliantly... but by now I now realised that it could not fly over all the other stranded and abandoned vehicles that were blocking the road and the exit FROM my street.
Next year, I will be trading it in for a helicopter!

That reminds me.... I have a haggis ( vegetarian variety) in my fridge that I bought over a week ago!

Anne think you are right, looks as if we will all
have a bad winter this year. :-(

There was little flurry in EK ( just south of Glasgow) last night too, but nothing major.
The snow is on it's way for us all me thinks.

Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Oct 2012 11:05

That would be about April I would have thought.

'Emma' Report 27 Oct 2012 11:02

Sharron you are a tonic :-D

Home made tattie soup ready for when
Fred arrives. ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Oct 2012 10:49

I'll go and put his muffler on.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 27 Oct 2012 10:27

Morning all, how are you coping in your neck
of the woods?

Our snow has turned to ice and dangerous under
foot, and...... not a gritter in sight!!

Suppose only the main routes as usual are being
seen too.

Take care all and stay warm :-D

Emma

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 26 Oct 2012 14:42

Not a lot is the answer to that Merlin, mostly we are OAP's
who wouldn't see them in their way, they eventually
clear it when everywhere else is done and by then it's
solid at top of cul-de-sac, our paths, runways and pavements
in front of our gates are cleared by our men and salted everyday.

Sharron it's on again so you better fire up Fred's wheels, fill a flask,
hot water bottle etc. :-D

Emma

Merlin

Merlin Report 26 Oct 2012 14:31

Send them a Bill and see what happens,if there are disabled people in your Cul-de-Sac they should clear it asap. nag them and see what occurs. :-D

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 26 Oct 2012 14:25

You don't know our council Merlin, they don't come into
the cul-de-sac to help us even when its' really bad, they
go along main road and block us in, so our men clear it
themselves, no chance of getting paid from them :-D :-D

When he had his stroke,Fred lost his speech and still gets his mucking firds wuddled. I spend ages trying to work out what he is telling me about everyday things.

I really have the time to decipher what he trying to tell me about his adventure to Aberdeen, which I might add,I would have to organize in minute detail before he went!
