The last few years we have had some hot and quite humid summers and all our insects (especially the spiders imho) have loved it and this had created a glut of smaller insects for the 'big hairy' spiders to feed on and thus they have grown expotentially. (posh words too!)

I hate spiders and OH knows this, but has he dealt with the one behind the loo? No! And I sit there hoping it does not decide to crawl onto me. I do not spend long in there.

Boris The Spider from 'A Quick One While He's Away' the 2nd Who album and I think written by John 'the Ox' Entwistle. Not much of a Who fan me!

Saw a Huuuge one in the kitchen, then he was half way up the stairs (on the wall). No idea where he is now.
Much as I like spiders, I object to them lurking on the ceiling above my bed :-0

Sister & I went to Ikea today. I bought a wicker chair. It's still got the protecting cardboard bits on. I wondered why Betty (cat) was showing such interest in these bits of card - just looked - there's a HUGE spider there - not a black one, a multi-coloured one.
