OH bought some raffle tickets yesterday.

He won a prize!! A leg of lamb & 8 chump chops.

Guess who had roast lamb for dinner tonight..... with roast potatoes, sweet potatoes, cauliflower/brocolli with cheese sauce, peas & gravy.

Yum!!

No space left for the strawberries I got this morning..... might keep them for breakfast.

lolol Julia

Our local golf club has raffles every Friday, and OH usually buys tickets ~ and often wins!

A couple of weeks ago he brought home a "lump" of meat. No kidding, it looked like roadkill. Then we found a tiny label... it was a 2Kg piece of Angus beef!

Gloating again.......... it was absolutely beautiful!! Melt in the mouth.

Laughing here, because I just posted on the thread about vegetarians.

That reminds me of the rhyme
Mary had a little lamb, french fries and a coke.!

Guess what? I'm having a lamb chump chop tonight, courtesy of my friendly neighbour.

I haven't had one for ages, so this is a real treat for me. AUS lamb is now selling at $18 to $24 per kilo (different cuts) in our local butcher.

In the late 60s and early 70s I always bought NZ lamb because of the price. Post Common Market we really lost a lot of Commonwealth imports and suddenly realised we were at the mercy of the UK supermarkets and their price fixing.

We raised lambs and thought nothing of cooking a large leg mid week! After we sold the farm we looked at prices on the supermarket shelves and choked :-0 :-0

Now I bulk buy meat when it's on offer. Lamb is a luxury now.

We used to have rabbit, duck and pigeon brought to us for free once we had to buy it we thought twice.

As for the meat sold by the 'cheap outlets' it has been washed in a bleach solution and injection with gawd knows what to increase the weight. I wouldn't touch it with a 30 foot pole :-P

We are having chicken today but I could murder a leg of lamb..lolol
