Linda, sorry if I upset you but you did ask " It just seems so 'undignified' does no one have pride in themselves anymore???" Well I guess that's at least two of us who do!

I do wonder if everyone is aware that their page is open to all and also think the default option should be private with the choice to go public where we wish.

You can always send a private message asking if the offending person is aware that anyone can read their page.

Used to wonder what people saw in FB, but now I love it.

Have private settings and only 'friend' those I know. Why on earth do people 'friend' strangers that is asking for trouble?

And I never wash my dirty laundry on there

:-)

FaceBook is my way of keeping up with my family in the UK. It was also a way to communicate with my son when he was on a tour of duty in East Timor.

FB is the only place i no where people believe that by adding people they don't no and have never met makes them a "friend"

FB just highlights how many dysfunctional families their are and lets face it
without FB Jeremy kyle would be on the dole

dysfunctional not to be confused with disfunctional

I don't think it's just on FB - seems to be everywhere - people talking on their mobiles in public about all and sundry, shows like Jeremy Kyle etc. I would rather die than air my dirty laundry in such a way. Perhaps dignity and self-respect aren't 'cool' any more :-D.

I certainly don't judge them all....I am just saying that SOME of them put up what MOST people would consider private....and YES I do have pride in myself

just a point, you can add posts on your wall but hide those posts from certain people.I often do that when posting a really rude joke, I hide it so my 13 year old daughter dont see it. :-)

Given that I do agree that some things are maybe best not said on your FB profile, even to just friends.

Trouble is, when someone is upset & angry its a way of letting it all out & getting support which is not always there at home.

I also think there should be no option to have your whole profile public by default. But there should be options to change your posts, photos etc to public if you want.

Do you have pride in yourself?

Sorry Det, that was for Linda.

Sure a lot of people don't set their security to private but I wouldn't judge all FB users by a few 'gobby' ones.

Absolutely!

It all very well sounding off to your friends, but many users have failed to implement their tightest security settings.

FB is allegedly a site which prospective employers look at when selecting a short list. And the photos that some (younger) people put up? (Shudder)

I am amazed by the very personal stuff put on FB.

One particular set of posts I have read are. Married with 2 kids. Husband went off with another woman, went down the pub and threw drinks over them. That went on and on and on. Then they got back together, having another baby now it's started again. Both the older children are on FB so they can see all this. What they say about each other is really dreadful.

This is just one thing I seem to see. It just seems so 'undignified' does no one have pride in themselves anymore???

Does anyone else agree.

Linda
