Neubie, a virtual barbecue would at least be non-fattening? :-D :-D

Neubie

Neubie Report 6 Aug 2012 21:06

facebook to me is like a very public CV..
Some people collect 'friends' like stamps. some actually argue with their closest family on this darned site.
I joined and never use it but I was once invited to a BBQ
Was a bit confused as the person inviting me lived well over 200 miles away until I was told it was a 'virtual' BBQ?
WTF is a virtual BBQ ?
:-S

I don't often look in on facebook as all I ever seem to see is either people posting sickening smarmy lovey dovey tripe, where repliers are saying how lovely the poster is......or bloody stupid games which makes the mind boggle.
things like "I have a pretty peach tree for your garden, or a cabbage for your farm", whats that all about :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D.
I always thought it was meant to be a place where people chat, I expect I'm wrong :-) :-) still it makes them happy, or does it.? ;-) ;-)

George :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

I was very suspicious of FB but am now a devotee and am to be found there daily.

I use a pseudonym as I don't wish to be contacted by all and sundry.

My privacy settings are secure.

I have a small select group of friends - mainly from on here and family.

It's great fun if used properly.

My dirty laundry is washed in my washing machine.

I didn't see it Rose, but saw references to it - and misread it as 'talbothound' :-D (which I think is a now extinct breed of hunting dog!)

Rambling

Rambling Report 6 Aug 2012 17:03

And how many middleaged women portraying themselves as young blond bombshells?

Anyone see 'talhotblond' on tv a few weeks back? :-0

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 6 Aug 2012 16:47

Or vice versa - to portray themselves as someone they aren't.

How many middle aged 20 stone men in string vests and jogging bottoms covered in fag ash are there who are portraying themselves as 18 year old fitness gods?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the internet is the natural habitat of every schizoid personality ever invented. The hard part is sorting out the wheat from the chaff.

I imagine it can sometimes be very liberating to air ones life in public...especially if it shows someone else up for what they are really like as opposed to the face they present to the world :-D

I don't use FB much, mainly to see how my niece and nephew and a couple of cousins are doing. :-D

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 6 Aug 2012 16:34

AH, but some people just love being drama queens and live their lives according to the bible of Coronation Road or whatever its called.

A daily dose of contrived drama aired in public is probably the only piece of fulfillment they have in their otherwise drab, meaningless and uninteresting lives.

But, hey, go for it. That's what facetube is all about. 'Had toast for breakfast - yummy' is rivetting stuff.
