We seldom get them on the patio, tho the main flowered area is on the same level , 3 steps down to the veg garden ,lawn and shrub area and there's no end of the the bleeding slimy things. |

Darn things go walk about on patio every night. cant put slug pellets down as we have Harold the tortoise wandering about. so its nuking with the salt drum every night and sometimes during the day when yet another downpour brings em out. |

Apparently, they suffer a painful, lingering death if you put salt on them. I just cut them in half with a pair of scissors (a recommended quick death way to deal with them by my tutor at horticultural college.) |

AnnC, I think feeding the birds is their reason to be, nothing else just food chain. They make me gag but I wouldn't put salt on them (double gag, did it just once) in case it poisoned any birds. |

We are inundated with the little blighters.I hate them,Snails as well.I have tried all the well known death penalties and am finding a coffee jar buried in the soil with cheap lager in is drowning quite a lot . ;-) ;-) |

stacks in my garden - wonder if they are good for anything other than feeding birds - what purpose do they have in nature? |

Wet weather brings them out so it's hardly suprising there seems to be a lot. I suppose they skulk about in the undergrowth when it's not raining? |
