It seems incredible that there are probably lots of people now who have met someone who was born two centuries ago.

My Grandmother was born in 1888, so have stories from her of how she lived then. She often spoke of her Grandparents, who were born in the early 1820's, so spoken knowledge of a family member born nearly 200years ago.

I wonder how many years it will be, before people have met people from three centuries ago?

I knew both grandmothers born 1881 and 1871. and met some brothers of theirs too who were born before them.

From the death certs of their parents they would have been around still when I was a toddler but I have no recollections of them

My maternal great grandmother, born 1870, holding me here in 1947. She died in 1955.

I remember her very clearly, especially the smell of moth-balls!

My maternal gran born 1881 died in 1958 two weeks before our daughter was born. She lived with mum & dad and I spent many afternoons with her when I was pregnant, having tea and cakes and a good old chinwag ,wish I could remember now some of the family things she told me. I went into hospital to have our daughter on the day of her funeral.

Paternal gran born 1871 died in 1964

My maternal grandmother 1884-1962 - paternal grandmother 1880-1959
and two of my great aunts 1891-1972 and 1893=1981 never met my grandfathers as both had died many years before I was born.

Like others I can't remember talking to them about their family life - the only information I have came from my late mother.

Maternal Grandmother 1897-1971
Maternal grandfather 1892-1965

Very lucky to have known them, but what a wasted opportunity to have not discovered more about their earlier lives.

Although I do remember some of the stories from my paternal gran that have echoed through my research :-)

3 grandparents - 1877, 1890, 1892,
1 Step-grandparent - 1877
1 Grt Aunt - 1876

All of them died before there was an interest in FH. Such a shame.

In answer to the question in the OP. it's difficult to say. Although as a whole we are living longer, there is a swing for couples to start a family later in life. It sort of rules each other out.

I have a photo of my Aunt, who was my Grandads Aunt. She was born in 1892. In the photo taken in the late 1960s are also her Daughter, my Grandads cousin, and my Sister, my Cousin and I. We must have been aged 4,5 and 6 at the time. I remember her very well and she died when I was in my early 20s

She also told me the story of the design on the willow patern service she had ( it was in ryme) does anyone know this as I have forgotten most of it. :-) <3 her very much
