Julia - my accent is weird. I was born in Scotland, came to Oz when I was 12, but I spent 3 years living in the US and about 7 years in different European countries, also a few months living in Asia. Learning (definitely not fluent!) other languages has given me a strange "accent", I often get asked where I'm from.

Morning All, Having been bought up in Scotland, I have no problem with understanding the language, though the OH who has worked there occassionally over the years, does have problems.
When we came back to England young brother was only 5. Nobody could undestand him, as his accent was broad Glaswegian.
I can also understand Irish, both north and south.
When talking with brother now in his sixties, and having lived in South Africa for many years, the other week, not for the first time did I answer him, in his now accent. I was saying Ya,ya, instead of Yes,yes.
Perhaps I am not bad at picking up accents.

They're all good, especially No 1 (the last one).... but I liked the peely wally pair on the beach lololol (I've been in Oz since I was 12, but I can still talk Scottish :-D)

Have you seen the Scottish StarTrek on You-Tube? Had me falling about, OH had NO idea what they were saying.
