Have to agree with SueMaid. Blame it on the sun :-D.

I love a good BBQ. Always have one after 6pm, enjoyed with a good glass of wine or two. If the weather is fine then it is fair game for a BBQ. My washing, plus the neighbours, is well off the line by 6pm.

Homemade chicken and veg kebabs, , bangers, pasta salad, new spuds with loads of butter (b*gger the health kick), followed by baked bananas with smarties (b*gger it again) ;-)

We also use a gas BBQ, so no smoke to annoy the neighbours.

If I can smell someone elses BBQ and I hadn't planned on having one, the first thing I think of is ....... that I am hungry and what have I got in the fridge/freezer that I can chuck on the BBQ

Love barbequed food. We have a gas one and the only smell is food. Strangely we often barbeque and eat it indoors. Good because OH does the cooking, the only cooking he does.

Sue Hi~~

Same when my sis was in SA, it is a way of life, BIL did the cooking too, I think they had a Weber, He did his Christmas Turkey on it one yr.
I think the charcoal coals give chicken a lovely flavour, tho my other BIL ( in the UK ) has a gas one his chicken was delicious .
Don't know how hubby lights the BBQ but there's never any smell other than the food.

BBQing is a way of life here in Oz. We love it but I wonder what is being used as fuel to cause smelly smoke. We have a gas bbq and so do our family and friends - never a problem with anything but nice smells tempting the neighbours to call round.

I don't mind BBQs, I don't have one myself but on the odd occasion I go to one I do enjoy them.

Completely off topic but Lolly, your dog is absolutely gorgeous :-)

Ah. They've spent too much time watching Delia and Heston etc and adverts for Waitrose and M&S (ads which I love by the way)

I'm a Hairy Bikers kind of cook - and proud of it ;-)

What amazes me is the way my neighbours seem to think their garden is soundproof, a little alcohol (in them) and the amount of BS has me falling off my chair.

The Organic food...!!

The nice little Delicatessen around the corner....!!

The special wine....!!

He shops in Poundland and Iceland ...Just like me

:-D :-D :-D

With you on the sun there Lolly.

I can cope with bbqs but when it comes to the smell of pork - I'm the neighbour vomitting out of sight.

I'm happy not to be invited when the neighbours have them.

The last one I went to was okay. It was with night-school classmate and her husband. Because I'm a vegetarian, I took some of my own vegeburgers wrapped up in tinfoil so that he could keep them separate. I handed them over and asked for him to cook them like that. I had thought he was unwrapping them to place them on the tinfoil to cook. I was just not quick enough to stop him as he took them out of the tinfoil and chucked them in with the rest of the stuff.

I knew that they both liked alcohol but I hadn't realised how much until I said that we recycled jam jars and bottles too. I'd spotted all the bottles in a dustbin. It was nearly full up. Talk about opening your gob. They were a bit short with me after that. Well it wasn't their recycle bin after all. It was their actual dustbin with nothing but bottles in it.

:-D

Sorry folks,

I love my own BBQ, BIL's ain't bad either ( he's got a gas one :-P)

I love it.... cos hubby does the cooking, he is not inconsiderate to neighbours doesn't have smoke going everywhere , and we only do chicken breasts ,which I marinade first ( in wine and a seasoning I bought in Minorca ).... I guess from the smell they'd like to come an join us.
It's usually just the 4 of us,unless my BIL and Partner comes down...and we are not rowdy, even after a few glasses of vino.

I don't use any and BBQ flavouring, I hate the smoky smell and taste. Dau likes BBQ sauce, I can't even sit at the table when she puts it on food
