You know I went and spent some time with my Nan last week who was 92 in a care home.......

The people there are so inspirational, they have been through so much through their lives from the War to their personal tragedies and illnesses and not once do you hear them complain.....Life was hard and they love talking about it but when they all chat to you and you tell them how sad or awful things sounded then their words are all the same " We just got on with it"!!!

People do not realise how lucky they are, and they should realise that there was and will be always people worse off then yourself....

I had an auntie who was like that - her dyspepsia, his nerves, her brother, his brother, his work, his pay, her neighbour - all negative and draining. BUT - if you could get her away from it, take her for a drive, ply her with a couple of sherrys and a nice meal, she was a different person and was one of the sweetest and most generous people you could meet :-D

I think it's very easy to depress other people, by constantly focusing on what is wrong..I expect we all have someone who after they've phoned you, you feel like running for the bread knife because they have drained every cheerful drop of optimism and joie de vivre you ever had.

I am cheerful today that the sun is shining, the birds were singing beautifully at 5.30 and my Christmas flowering cactus is flowering again :-D

Do you remember reading 'Pollyanna' or watching the film with Hayley Mills? ( it was shown recently again on telly).

She played 'the glad game' The game consists of finding something to be glad about in every situation :-D

It may be a trite philosophy but I thought of it yesterday while I was gardening....I was on my knees and thought 'well I should be glad I can still get down even if I can't get back up' :-D
