Apart from when a hereditary disease is passed down throgh either the male or female line, then you take what you get. Men often want sons, but when they get a daughter are putty in their hands!

Yes i agree JUDE ,
sometimes its done for medical reasons, genetic testing where a certain sex would carry a faulty gene .and i know that in China they had an one child policy and abortions were carried out when the sex of the child was female.
but what i can make out is this is healthy children being aborted because their parents want a certain sex,and doctors are being paid to do it illegally. :-(

It has happened in some cultures for years where boys are more valued than girls. I think some people will follow their culture wherever they live in the world and whatever the law is. I don't know, but suspect some would go back to countries where it isn't illegal for it to be done then come back here.

As for those who want to 'balance' the sexes of their children, whatever happened to the idea of a child being a wonderful gift to be cherished and be grateful for.

There can be medical reasons for some I'm sure and no-one would disagree with those, otherwise it sounds like sex discrimination before you are even born to me.

If its purely done to ensure a male heir then its disgusting.

I would say more but I would be banned.

Reading in the paper today, that abortions based on the sex of the child are being carried out in this country, this practice has been banned in this country for 45yrs, i was suprised that it had ever been legal in the first place.
what are your views? :-(
