Mine were both potty trained by about 2...night time a few months on....

Didn't take more than a week to get them clean as I recall....i did lots of build up to it...like taking them out to chose their own *big girl pants* and bringing the potties out for them to look at and get used to before D Day.....they were both wanting to be clean by then.

I just cna't imagine WANTING to change a 5 yrs olds nappy....surely it has to be easier to potty train.........not to mention the expense !!!!!!!!!!

I went to the dentist yesterday and I joked with him that am due me gold clock as I have been with him for 22 years he has seen my children grow up, when my eldest joined the army and had his checked they even said to him, your mother has clearly looked after your teeth. My children have lovely nashers sadly I dont. But I do look after them.

unless there is an underlying medical problem, its total lazyness on the parents part,

it is not the school responsibility to toilet train our childre its our as parents,

one thing i do see a lot of is children needing dental work, and having teeth out before they fall out naturally,

my littleman has beautiful teeth, he eats sweets, far to many probably if im honest, but he doesnt drink fizzy drinks, and he brushes them regular as well as 6 montly dental checks,

:( poor kids x

I think it's just ignorance and laziness on the part of the parents, it's not impossible to potty train a 2 year old. Both mine were potty trained day and night by 2 1/2 yrs, and never been a problem since. They both had their own children potty trained by around the same age.

Obviously if there are other factors coming into play, like a mental disability or some such, then things are a lot lot different, ie my brother who is now 34 and has Angelmann's Syndrome, similar to cerebral palsy, is still in adult nappies, but that's a different kettle of fish altogether.

I cant imagine any parent willingly wanting to clean up poo when it could have been sorted by then.

I would never have believed this had I not seen that Protecting The Children programme Rose mentioned the other day. Stood doing my ironing yesterday and watched all three in a row on iplayer..........to say I ws shocked is an understatement !!!

Hand on heart....to my knowledge though I've never come across 4/5 yr olds in my daughters school who wore nappies......is it really THAT widespread do you think? x
