I have 'bumped' the other thread to make it easier to find

Had a slow cooker for years. Do not expect stews/casses to be as thick as when cooked in the oven. We make curries etc and use sauces from glass jars. Friend cooks cheap beef on a bed of onions and small amount of water comes out vereeeeeeeeeee rich. There is another thread on here not far back and has recipes/info etc

Mau..Yes I did. Made my soup in it,pea.Stuck it on then went back to bed with a cup of tea.
Then i made chicken chaseur(sp),put the potatoes in too.
I used a jar of sauce and added extra mushrooms and carrots.

Ham was beautifully cooked and OH had seconds :-D but it wasn't up to my usual standard ahem *studies nails* ;-) so are you taking a chance tomorrow lol :-D

Well Mau,I've had mine and like your it was a bit runny.
I looked a bit up re pkt sauce mix,and a few has sais use a bit less water as the condensation from the lid waters it down.
So maybe thats where we went wrong ;-)

I've had to turn mine down to low. Everything is cooked and tastes good,but not thick enough for my liking :-( must have put too much stock in.Usually the split peas thicken it.
Leaving it a bit longer...feel like a novice :-S....like you say have to get used to it

Leave it on low tomorrow Marion it'll be okay..........it says so on the tin lol

Well,I turned mine down to low now as it seemed to be cookng faster than I thought.:-S
I had a quick look at recipes i got with it,washed the dish out and chucked in all my stuff.
Dont know if I am brave enough to put it on tomorrow on a low heat. I will be out and in all day though.
I'd hate it to explode or something lol.When my cats in there.

Like everything else,I'll get used to it.

Hi Marion......I had my 'lift off' this morning too :-D..... after steeping ham shank for a few hours,I now have it plus assorted vegetables and yellow split peas and half full stock,in the slow cooker on high.

Don't know how long it will take to cook,as there was no recipe book inc. ( and I'm used to making it on the hob) but it's starting to smell good soo fingers crossed ;-) :-)

They now do packet mixes specially for slow cookers in T--c-.

Well,we have lift off lol.
I've got a couple of chops,veg and mushrooms in.
Stuck it on high about 1-30 in hope in ready by about 5ish.:-S

It look bigger than I thought but at least it will do when the 'crew' are here.

I use the jars of sauce in mine Marion, they are ideal.

I was asking the same question some time ago and now I would not be without one.I bought mine here in Spain but cannot remember how much it cost. It is very efficient and cooks all the meats very well. Mine has three settings each for a different length of time.yesterday it cooked a cheap piece of Beef and it was cooked to perfection.
Mine came with a book, but all in Spanish! How ever there is a lot of info on here and on other threads and use Google it has quite literally thousands of ideas.
cost wise it is very cheap and easy to clean
