Had a slow cooker for years. Do not expect stews/casses to be as thick as when cooked in the oven. We make curries etc and use sauces from glass jars. Friend cooks cheap beef on a bed of onions and small amount of water comes out vereeeeeeeeeee rich. There is another thread on here not far back and has recipes/info etc |

I've had to turn mine down to low. Everything is cooked and tastes good, but not thick enough for my liking :-( must have put too much stock in.Usually the split peas thicken it. |

I was asking the same question some time ago and now I would not be without one.I bought mine here in Spain but cannot remember how much it cost. It is very efficient and cooks all the meats very well. Mine has three settings each for a different length of time.yesterday it cooked a cheap piece of Beef and it was cooked to perfection. |

Marion any recipe that you would cook in oven - chuck into the slow cooker and bob's your uncle. (or so I have found) |
