The new format for the GR tree

I am unable to view my tree properly and have sent 2 messages to GR but have had no reply.
I dont know anyone who likes the new tree.
Why change something that was working quite nicely before.

Deffo the more people to complain the more chance we will have of keeping the old tree Perhaps we will have both as we do now and then we will have the choice old/new which would be great ;-) ;-)

I don't like the new tree either-does anyone else find it weird that the navigational tool arrows are back to front?? If you want to move to the right along your line, from say,sibling to sibling,you would expect to click on the right arrow,but no,you click on the left,the opposite to what you normally do,and vice versa.I find that really strange,and I have reported it to the Support Team.

I also clicked on the Feedback sign,to make some constructive comments,and got the "Sorry, this tree is unable to load" message,which was really annoying, and like the person who made the comment about it,I eventually gave up,lost the message,and reposted the message
in the other part of the tree where you locate the FAQ's which never answer your query anyway. I find it hard to find where to contact the
Support Team.It doesn't exactly jump out at you!

Also..I had the same experience with trying to find an ancestor in the Search box-hopeless!!-and gave up in disgust.

But-for those people saying that they have lost their photos from their tree,if you click on a person,and click on the Photo Gallery sign on the side,the photo comes up,so they're not actually lost. :-)

They are trying to sort out the glitches,AnninGlos is right,we have to tell the GR Team about any problems as we find them,so that they're
aware of them.

i HAVE PRACTISED AND AM SUCCESSFUL NOW ON THE NEW TREE
tHE OLD TREE IS STILL THERE IF NEED BE. hAVE FOUND YOUR ADVISE ON OPERATING NEW FORMAT VERY USEFUL THANKYOU

Because of all the teething problems genes have given us the option of using old/new for the time being click on family tree and drag it down and you will see the options Hopefuly when we have no other option but use the new version we should be ok I am still using the old one and dreading the time when I have no option but to use the new one ;-) :-) :-)

This new format is riduculous. I cannot even establish whether i share information with another user because whenever i insert the ancestors name into the allocated box it takes ages and when the named person appears i click on it and it refuses to budge. thirty minutes later and i have given up. The old style worked well without any problems.

The new tree is an ugly abomination which is full of bugs.

I am now waiting for it to be changed and then I will upload a new gedcom file as I can't edit my existing one.

I can't believe they've changed the format.
The whole thing takes twice as long to navigate through and as others have mentioned when you add new ancestors it repeats information that relates to other relatives.....a right mess.
I had no notification that this was happening either, I haven't always got time to read all the boards...we should have had an email and users have the opportunity to ensure special stuff is saved.

Well I see that of all the comments on this subject 2 people like this new tree and the rest think it is pants,. well............... add one more to the pants. I can see that Genes are trying to make improvements however there are too many bugs in the system and basically it does not work so until it does please give us back the old version. :-( :-(

OMG I have just noticed that all the dates of death are missing from my tree. Hundreds which have been provided by family members of which some are now no longer with us. Many of the dates have been provided by fellow Geneologysts so I will have to trawl through all my tree accesses and messages. THANK YOU Genes Reunited for nothing. :-P :-P :-P :-( :-( :-(

Ah just realised that all other trees will have the same problem so unless other members add the dates back they are lost forever!!!!!

Had another go earlier, still hate it. Photo's and info have disappeared. If I click on to a ancestor the whole things just freezes up. Also I clicked on to my tree and someone elses tree opened, and not one of my contact.

Fed up really fed up. As theyr'e not going to let up change back I hope they sort out the problems soon, very soon.

I'm going now, off to see War Horse.

Totally agree that the new format is awful!!Why can't we have an option to keep it (or go back to the old one).The old one was easy to use and see what you had on your tree .New one seems slow .as you have to click and wait for things all the time.No warning was given that it was going to happen and no i don't like it at all!!.regards sue :-(

Totally agree with comments about it being rubbish - can't use it at all and it looks soo ugly. Bring back the old format or at least let us choose.
Have been doing my tree 4 years now and am used to things as they were and it was all laid out nicely.

But Rita it is doing no good putting it on here. You need to use the feedback facility to explain your problems with it. It is no good saying just that you don't like it. If you have a problem tell them.

Can I ask if you have read the instructions on the announcement board? If you have and it is still not working then that is what the feedback button is meant for. It is pointless putting it on the gen board because the team are not looking for feedback on here.

I have looked at it and, although confusing at first, I can see that they have tried to answer some of the complaints made in the past. I have not tried to add anyone but have just looked. My point in putting this up is that they have given the opportunity for genuine feedback, so if there is a problem it makes sense to use it.

Glad to see the feedback button now works. When I opened it up for the first time I really hated it and I still don't like it but once it actually works I'm sure I'll get used to it if they tweeked a few things.
