Its possible that a lot of it is caused by "Jobsworths" trying to justify their employment and strictly enforcing unwanted and unnecessary EU.Directives, unlike other Countries who just utilise what suits them.**M**.

I feel sorry for the muslim children being withdrawn from the carol service. Music of any kind seems to be thin on the ground in their culture. Parents who haven't integrated do not do their children any favours.I have worked with muslims who have embraced our way of life, including bringing food to the Christmas party!. We have shared conversations about when they are fasting, without feeling that we are treading on anyones toes because of their culture. I wonder if different parts of the country integrate better/worse?-jl

George of W - have you thought of asking the council when the Main Road signs are going to be replaced by Merry Christmas, especially if the other signs are on Council or Utility owned poles etc. ?

If the Muslim Community have put them up on Private property, then lets hope they take them down after the event.

As long as your grandchildren have the option of opting out, then its perfectly fair, isn't it?

If they dont have that option, then yes, its descrimination.

wend,
has ive said in my post,i grew up with all colours,in liverpool in the late 60s i had lots of friends, but only one white friend and she was welsh,i loved all my friends, and i brought up my children the same, but as the yrs have passed,i see almost daily the rasicm towards white people,of course its only a small minority of different groups, but in this country now,we the english are the minority, how did we let this happen..and before anyone says im racist,im far from it.x :-(

Ask any young child about this and they wouldn't know what you were talking about. When my children were young, they had friends with different skin colour, different religion, handicapped, etc., but they didn't notice - to them ALL their friends were the same and they liked them, purely and simply, because they enjoyed their company and got on with them.

How sad it is that so many of our children these days grow up and become affected (or should I say infected) by adults' bigotry.

I'm proud to say my children didn't!

I am not a politically correct person by any means, If something offends me and it involves religion or race I will say what I think.

I could care less what race someone belongs to so long as they don't offend me, same again with religion, so long as nobody tries to spout religion at me I don't care.

We have all got to get by here and should live and let live, but if one group offend then don't be scared to vent your anger at it.

George_of_Westbury Report 8 Dec 2011 19:16

I think the biggest cause of non integration in the city where i live is our Labour controlled council.

Close to where i live is an area dominated by the Muslim community, over the past few weeks the main roads in this area have been decked out on every lampost etc with signs wishing everyone a happy "Eid Mubarak" and "Happy Diwali". whatever they mean, there is not one sign wishing its citizens a "Merry Christmas"
As far as i can see there are no Merry Christmas signs in The City as a whole, surely this is racism/segregation etc promoted by the council

Have our council forgotten that its not just Muslims that live in our City or are they so PC they do not wish to upset the Muslim community by saying Merry Christmas, well i am upset seeing all these signs written in some language which i have no intention of learning, this is England not Pakistan, Bangladesh
or some other place. If i was going to live in some other place i would learn the language

We also have a very large Italian community in this same area, i never see anything written in Italian

In the past, when our council send out information , they ask on the info.if i would like a copy in some other language, i have requested a copy in Welsh, surprise, surprise i have never received an acknowledgment never mind a copy

Segregation/Separatism/ appartheid all means the same,Look what happened in S/Africa, it did,nt work there, and we don,t want it here, the sooner its stopped the better, after all we are all humans no matter what colour or creed,so why don,t the cretins who try to make it different just shut up and let things evolve.**M**.

It's not only the children who enjoy christmas Dizzy, when we lived next door to muslims she loved to join in with us, she used to buy us presents and we bought her children presents. as soon as we got our tree up she had to come round to see it and have a cuppa. It was the same with their celebrations, she brought us some of their food round, the curries were to die for. When she came home from hospital with her first baby the old grandad came for me to see it as soon as they got home, I thought that was lovely. I hope todays children stay friendly when they grow up.

I think we've all had a potful of the PC brigade and the 'elf & safety mob too - makes me wonder how I've lived so long

as for religions, I love learning about other religions - other than Christianity that is - find it very interesting

that case Bob was referring to was an absolute disgrace - another judge who doesn't live in the real world

I personally think there is to much PC which causes more unrest than there actually is, and normally its by those supposedly outraged and not being to wish someone a merry christmas or wave their english flag, its does make me giggle, now at this time of year those of us who have FB accounts will see friends status unindated with comments, todays is going on about "Happy holidays" now as I understand it this is an american traditonal phase I will stand corrected if it isnt so.

I have grown up in a multi cultured society and work in one, never once have I heard or known of people from other cultures complain about christmas decorations or being sent a christmas card... it does make me chuckle, the only mention of it I hear of it when it appears in the media ( so it must be true eh! ;-) ) and of course you get everyone jumping on the bandwagon...I just shake my head think what fools.
