I'm grateful for Island's post because I too was a little bewildered, being over 35 ;-)

Fingers crossed for your hubby, Ann.

I did wonder that and suggested it to OH but we have no receipts for it, He bought it on line and doesn't seem to have kept the receipt. I suppose he could ask.

also, I think they usually want proof of a police crime number or something. Being lost on private property he has not contacted the police as he would expect a fellow player to hand it in at the club house. I think inertia has set in now!!!!

Ann,

Might your Household Insurance cover it?

Well it had not been handed in by 5pm so, unless somebody finds it in the grass it looks like it has gone. I tink he is annoyed with himself more than anything.

It is about the size of an Iphone and quite chunky. Not sure if it has metal on it Jude.

You're not wrong Jude! I thought it was the person who pushed the trolley with the clubs LOL
Another word 'nicked' by technology to confuse us - ahem- over 35s.

I've a feeling it's still lying on the grass Ann, it's amazing how far things can bounce when dropped.
I do hope it turns up soon. :-D

Sue, he is just trying to find that out. He thinks there is a GPS reference. It could still be on the course but with rain forecast that would seem to be a no win situation. He had two searches and couldn't find it, unfortunately on that hole he was on the edge of the rough.

Chris, thanks, he's had it 18 months so had good use out of it but still wouldn't like to think of somebody getting hold of it for nothing.

This may be a stupid question but if it works via GPS and is programmed to T's account can the manufacturer locate it's position?

AnninGlos Report 24 Oct 2011 16:29

Err no Jude, it is an electronic device called a sky caddy one to two hundred pounds worth. It calculates the distance to the hole when a course is programmed in. costs £30 a year to run it and yes it is legal before anyone asks. But it expires at the end of the year and we don't think anyone except the registered person can get it up dated. I suppose it is a bit like a sat nav for golf. We will be watching ebay. Of course it may be lying somewhere in the grass if nobody has picked it up.

Ann....when you say 'golf caddy' you mean the thing that carries the golf clubs??

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 24 Oct 2011 15:11

He knows he dropped it, knew roughly where. The two groups behind him were friends and they didn't see it, but easily missed if they are concentrating on their golf and don't happen to walk the same side of the hole as he did. Others behind them were possibly visitors. Nobody has phoned yet and he finished at 12. Don't hold out much hope. Quite a lot of money to buy a new one.
