Well I'm sick of seeing the tyrant on the news, hes gone finished ,,,lets see the people start to rebuild their beautiful country and have lives that they only could ever dream of during his evil wicked reign.

Soon after the Americans bombed Tripoli, I was talking to a young Lybian man. He was worried that his visa would be revoked and he would be sent home. I asked him about Gadaffi, his answer was, when Gaddafi took over power from a previous Dictator, there was a very high rate of ilterarcy and he was doing some good by building an infrastructure for all. Women were given more powers. It appears Lybia was trying to adopt a more Western way of life. He certainly was on the West's side against Iran at the time of the Ayatullah Khemeni.
The Lybian chap said what we all know is, when someone has complete control for a long period - power corrupts.

i am sorry to see anybody die even gadaffi
though i dont think he deserved to live
been reponsible for thousands and thousands of peoples deaths

but i do think one bullet has saves us millions of pounds
having a trial that he could only found guilty at

and i can see nothing gained by showing his death
or his body in the manor it was displayed

In all honestly and some people may not like my comment, he got the death he deserved.

Reportedly, 40,000 fighters died in their efforts to rid the country of him, his sons, vile daughter and their henchmen.

Back track over decades and 100s of thousands have been murdered on his instructions.

I know all about the UK, USA and French supplying arms to dictators, let's remember the Argentines were killing our troops in the Falklands with Exocets supplied by France!

Where there's overseas trade to be had the majority of countries turn a blind eye to any moral issue. Just sometimes it does bite them in the bum.

Middle Eastern news coverage is polar opposite to ours, I can remember pictures coming out of Beirut which reduced me to tears BUT without that media the West wouldn't have known the full truth, the same applies to Gaza.

Instant news today is both a blessing and a curse, we can't put the genie back in the bottle just because it offends sensitivities in our 'civilised' society.

Island, I didnt see any pictures till the early evening news, his mouth is wide open infact his jaw to me look possibably broken he is very bloodied and I think on the back of a pick up truck ( I'd gone in to shock I think by then) ..as with Sadam I dont think I am etiher pleased or not that he is dead, what I did find uncivilised was his hanging Sadams) was posted youtube I was mortified. Same as I am at Gadaffi being paraded round the streets. To me its so uncivilised,

Going off topic abit here, but the only person I was glad had died was Myra Hindley that she had died in prison and never gain the freedom she dreamed of and tried to fight for, I hope her victims familes gained a little peace for that.

Rita, I am aware that many of Gaddafi's actions were evil; I have distant knowledge of him and of the country of Libya, a friend and a relative worked in Tripoli for a while. I stand by what I posted yesterday, including other countries having supplied weapons to Gaddafi, and this morning.

The world is strange at times; ie we supplied Libya with weapons, Libya supplied them to the IRA .... :-0 :-(

As a nation we were all very glad to hear of the death of Hilter and two days prior to this Mussolini and his mistress were killed and their bodies left hanging in an Italian square and shown on news reels in cinemas around the world.

The people of Libya have suffered for over 40 years and several times since this uprising began have ben reports of his capture etc. Their need to know and the only way they will know is to see his corpse.

We have not suffered under his regime, have not lost loved ones. Who are we to judge? There are those in this country who have held talks with this dictator who surely must ask themselves now how did their conduct contribute to this situation and what part their actions have played.

I would have to agree with Joy re the supply of arms and their subsequent training and arming of some members of the IRA who in turn would have trained others.

Just been reading abit in papers......there was alot of cross fire when they put him in a truck...so he could have been killed by his own men!!!!!

I just knew someone would poo-poo my comment a few hours later with the benefit of further information and additional images LOL

At the time of my previous posting, reports were sketchy and I wasn't convinced that the ONE image being circulated at the time was that of a very recently deceased person The mouth appeared tightly closed as did the eyes which is what I meant by a 'neat expression'.
Later animated images told a different story.

Can't say as I feel much in my heart for his sons either tbh..they were every bit as depraved as he was.

However...I do agree with you to a degree...the whole parading the body thing about isn't very dignified...however I guess we shouldn't judge their culture by what's acceptable or in good taste in ours.

Whilst I don't rejoice at his death exactly... I can't say as I'm sorry for it. x

Not a 'neat' facial expression at all in the pictures being shown in the news. In my opinion, it is a wicked way to treat anyone no matter who the person is, dragging his bloodied body through the streets; everyone is someone's son / brother, sometimes a husband / partner; I feel for his wife and children seeing those pictures of their loved one.

He is responsible for many people's deaths and the victims were often killed in cruel ways; but I shall never forget that other countries, such as Britain, supplied weapons to his country and, therefore, are also responsible and also have their blood on their hands.

R.I.P. all victims of tyrants.

Don't know about 'neat' but it had to be relatively untouched so he could be positively identified by the Libyan people when they saw it on TV.

I'm finding it a bit odd that a recently dead person alledgedly being dragged through the streets has such a 'neat' facial expression though?
Not that it makes any difference to the outcome if Gaddaffi is dead...
