Cat, there were a few bits i would have liked to see done more as they were in the book, but given the length can't have everything lol.

Well they did split the book into two films in order to get as much as possible in lol In every film something that was in the book was missed out due to time constraints, if they put everything in they'd end up with films about 5 hours long minimum.

I remembered another bit when I woke up this morning. Harry, Ron and Hermione were fleeing the fiendfyre in the room of requirement and Harry said they had to go back for Malfoy and his friend. Ron shouted to Harry "Harry, if we die I'm gonna kill you" ....classic :-D

Edit: Just reread your post and you said "more as they were done in the book" not that they were missed out...oops. Yes, I have to admit I would have liked to have seen Neville pull the sword out of the hat and chop Nagini's head off right there and then but at least he got to do it lol. I think on the whole they've remained pretty much faithful to the books as much as they could while trying to cover as much as they could. It's been a while since I've read the books, will have to reread them again soon, but as far as I remember these last two films have been close.

the first film is on Tv tonight seen it a million times but will be snuggled on the sofa with me lilman watchign it again :-P

I bought my wife the boxed set 1-6 for christmas and we had a Harry Potter day which I quite enjoyed.

Our girls, who are now grown up and mothers themselves, became interested when the first book came out and carried on from there along with my wife. I do think that was a good thing as we had always read with them as children and this encouraged that habit along as the books rolled out.

Actually reading books is so much better since your imagination takes off to match that of the authors as they describe the story lines with the bonus of increased literacy thrown in.
I must admit that the film makers do have a difficult job deciding how much of the story line to leave out.

The problem these days is that children are sitting permanently plugged into computers, I-Pods, phones, while making little effort to set aside some quiet time just to sit and read.
Not that there's anything wrong with computers but it can be too easy to slip from using it to glean some information on the web to switching over to some games or facebook etc....

You only had to watch the recent "fly on the wall" TV program about the children in their primary school class to see how quickly they can drop out of the scheduled lessons in just one morning.

The final Harry Potter film............ we'll wait for the DVD as we're probably a bit too old for the back seats. ;-) ;-) :-D :-D

I went last night and saw it in 3D - wonderful!!

My Grandson 'grew up' with Harry Potter and was besotted with the books & films.....ah the times we spent waiting in the queue with him at midnight for the book releases.
Was great fun being with all the fans dressed up in H.Potter gear!....not me though ;-)

Grandson's 21 in October ....where have the years gone? :-0

just came back from seieng it in 3D i thought it was fantastic, muh better than part 1, and loved how it explained a lot of things, i wont spoil it for others, but i was furious when the screen went white!!! lololol, :-D

and managed to stay awake all the way through
so must of been ok

Glad you enjoyed it Stray, I imagine it was excellent in 3D , I saw in 2D because wearing glasses already the 3D ones are uncomfortable...esp' for a long film lol.

yes i have to wear the 3D glasses over my everyday glasses, irritates my nose :-( but worth it, lilan thought it was brill, mam bought him the harry potter round 3d glasses he refused to take them of lol

i bet the news of the world had her phone well hacked lol

I haven't seen it but was surprised to see that in one area both screens showing the 2D version were sold out, the only seats were remaining were for the 3D version, when asked why teenagers said they wanted to see it not be in it.

the queues for the next showing were massive old and young
so Harry Potter is still the in film to see

i was so glad i seen the half blood prince last week though
as i wouldnt of know what was going on half the time

Well I read the books but it was ages ago so can't really remember a thing about it all.I actually have a copy of The Deathly Hallows on my bookshelf, I suppose I could always do a quick resume!!!!

littleman likes the 3d version, me, well i dont notice its 3d after a few minutes lol, unless somthing comes right out at me,

i think part 2 was the best of the harry films, :-D

I saw the 2D version. I refused to pay an extra £3+ for a pair of glasses :-P

I haven't read the books in ages but plan to read them again soon. I noticed a box set of Harry Potter for the first 7 films in Morrisons last week. We already have all the films though.

Mau, I loved hearing about the fancy dress!

Our youngest grew up with Harry Potter. When the first film came out we hired the deluxe screen at the local cinema and invited all our friends to buy tickets and come with us. It was a great day. The kids dressed up as characters from the books and my godson was (and still is ) a dead ringer for Harry Potter. The local newspapers came and they were all on the front page.

The upside was, every time someone got up to go to the loo or whatever, we knew them.

The downside was, walking through Ashford Cineworld at 5.pm wearing full evening dress!!!!!! We did get some looks from the "normal" people......

But it was worth it. xx

I don't like 3D. We have lots of glasses bought previously, thought they cost 89p! Not planning to pay any more.

Tbh I've no idea just exactly how much the glasses themselves cost. The £3+ was the difference in price between the 2D and the 3D film.
