I think i have worked out the father of an illegimate child even though no records exist of whom that person is.
One thomas wiggins of boddicote born 1789?
father believed to be a child of joshua and elizabeth swallow of headington/oxford area.

mods/admins please delete/move if you think something is wrong with post

Say you had an illegimate ancestor, you were able to surmise who it was, even though no records existed of who it is(in two cases i think i have)
One interesting thing i have noticed is that in some cases there is a 9 month gap between illegimate child's mother baptism anniversity and child's baptism(sarah lockley was baptised August 24? 1793,but parents ann lockley/martin lucas were baptised 3 december 1771/1776 supposedly)
in three cases of no marriages existing, i have traced the spouse(I went back 56 years from baptism last of child to calcalute spouses rough year of eg last child baptised 1772 ,spouse born 1716 or later,
which happened in case of John/rachael piper,i worked out rachael is properbly rachael luffman baptised 1719 kings somborne, same with john/grace hankin, grace is properbly grace copperthwaite(mother a hankin?,interestingly)
