Allan that sort of passed my by, whenever I see "Browning" I think of Robert and Elizabeth (Barrett) Browning...because my former boss was descended from the Barretts.. and so I go off on a tangent, mixing poetry and Elizabeth's dog Flush :-D ( now you see the way my mind works it's no wonder maths is not my strong point lol)

Hi RR

I think that Sue was having a gentle swipe at me over my fatuous comment about the Browning family :-(

Just saying...... :-D

Sue I am genuinely trying to work out the gist of it, I can see , or at least I think I can, that Paul is seeing a pattern...I just can't quite see it myself.

I'm not mocking Paul for his explanation, rather myself for not being able to understand it when I think I should be able to..

Allan

Allan Report 24 Apr 2012 23:43

Sorry Sue, but if Paul only wishes to post once a year, and even then not really respond to the various posts...well

All he has to do is the same as others have done, just explain that he has a problem with expressing himself

I don't think there is a simple answer to this.....well i suppose there is really...........leave it to Paul :-)

Allan Report 24 Apr 2012 23:39

lol RR

the maths appears to be based on 9 month pregnancies to work out who is descended from whom

But this presupposes that you have the correct family in the first place.

I must be honest and say that with the help of another member of GR I've done something a little bit similar in my search for my granddad

From his marriage cert we know that he was 44 (if he didn't lie about his Age)

That is the first record we can find of him which may mean that he was adopted or changed his name.

We worked back to 1860 as his possible birth year and then going back another couple of years, we searched for all births registered with the same forename.

Then with the mothers name, I am searching to see if any of them married the person shown on the marriage certificate as his father.

Tedious and no result yet! :-(

Not nice to mock someone when they may have trouble putting their thoughts into words :-(

well I am trying to understand, but it's hard when your brain hurts lol.

If anyone could explain it to me simply I would be ever so grateful :-D

Allan Report 24 Apr 2012 23:24

The only Browning Familt that I know came from a place called Gravy, and that makes about as much sense as this thread :-)

I am descended from Thomas/samuel wiggins born c.1789 to sarah wiggins boddicott.
The story really starts with his sarah lockley baptised 28? august 1793,her reputed father was martin lucas baptised 3 december 1766,her mother ann lockley supoosedly 3 ,december 1771,3 december comes 9 months before 28? august.
thomas/samuel wiggins was baptised supposedly 3 july 1789? but mother was baptised 26 november 1764? chipping norton to ed and bridg wiggins.
I surmise that perhaps like his wife, the date of baptism might be significance and wondered if 26 november or wher abouts the father was born.

Because I couldn't trace marriage,i ordered a birth certificate of one george swallow wiggins which revealed mother maiden name(sarah lockley).
Looking at new igi i found richard swallow 26 november 1776? headington oxon.
Interesting richard grandmother appears to be a browning, only sarah lockley is supposed to be descending from a browning family,if i rember correctly.
same family have martins which made me wonder if lucas family are related to them as well

LOL Jax, so Paul appears only on the same day each year :-D

I expect the other 364 days are spent in deep concentration on old records and mathematical equations?

Janet Report 18 Apr 2012 12:44

If only I too could understand. The nearest I got to finding out my gt grandfather's father was that given he was born in early February in Blackburn in 1846, what was going on around May the 1st the year before. Must have been more than dancing round the Maypole.-jl
