I have just seen "Clayhanger" available on DVD on Amazon!

"The Sweeney" was so good before the age of political corrrectness.

"Just Good Friends" got over 20 million viewers for the final episode when they got married.

Now the TV bosses are delighted if they can get 8 or so million.

Penny and Vince in 'Just Good Friends' - they really don't make them like that any more !

Thinking of Perry Mason the same actor (Raymonf Burr?) was Ironside wasn't he? That was another one we always watched - and Kojak of course. Thinking of the American ones there was also Starsky and Hutch and Cagney and Lacey - as someone said, there was lots of crime!

On to comedies - I loved the Liver Birds, Dad's Army and Some Mothers Do Ave them (can't stand that now!). i can't say there are any comedies I really look forward to these days

Some good recollections of great TV viewing.

Here's a few more:

"Dempsey and Makepeace" starring Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber, shown in 1985-1986.

"Boys from the Bush". Tim Healy decided to emigrate to Australia to become a detective.

In 1992. Adam Faith and Zoe Wanamaker appeared together in "Love Hurts! Very classy romantic-comedy. It ran for 3 series.

Oh yes...'let's get them before they get us', I loved Hill St Blues.

I also loved 'A Family at War' and watched it every week without fail. My parents enjoyed that too, having lived through WWII themselves, they thought it was very true to real life.

Anyone remember the comedy series Taxi, with Danni De Vito?

Many MANY years ago I vaguely remember a series called Manhunt, which didn't run for very long (late 60's/early 70's?). It was about the French Resistance in WWII and a British pilot who had crashed in France. Nobody I know remembers it....!!

Bergerac was a firm favourite in our house, as was Perry Mason, The Fugitive, Peyton Place, Z Cars, Emergency Ward 10 and Dixon of Dock Green....to name but a few!!!

Hi nigglynellie - 'No Hiding Place' - Ah yes! That was Raymond Francis as DCS Lockhart. He had played this character in previous series, beginning with 'Murder Bag' - way back in 1957!. Johnny Briggs was DS Russell.

The spin off with Barlow from Z cars was Softly Softly - one of my dad's favourites. Dixon was always a must in our house on a Saturday evening! Bergerac was another favourite too.

Does any one remember 'No HIding Place'? A very young Johnny Briggs played the junior detective, can't remember who the main role was played by, so long ago!!! Certainly remember Dixon 'Evening All!' I, too remember the names of 'Inspector Rose' and 'The men in Room? but can't remember anything about them!!! There always seemed to be a decent film or series on the go years ago Anyone remember 'Who Pays the Ferryman' with gorgeous Jack Hedley?

The Sweeney & The Professionals were both being repeated recently on one of the ITV digi channels. - I think The Sweeney may still be on?

Does anyone else remember 'Inspector Rose' or 'The Men in Room 17?' -That was a particular favourite of mine (About the Secret Service).- with the late Denholm Elliot, one of my favourite actors.

Yes, we all loved Dixon. - Unfortunately The BBC used to wipe their tapes in the early days, so most of them were lost - along with many 'Dad's Army' episodes & other classic shows. I wonder what will be the much-missed shows from this decade, when folks look back? - It goes without saying that Anything with wonderful John Thaw will always be timeless.

Our household was talking about Sergeant Cork made in the early 1960's with William Gaunt, where he played a police officer in Victorian times.
Its out on DVD. Yipee!

What about Z Cars? Or is that too early for folks? Lol. I think there was a spin off series later based in, perhaps, Bristol with Barlow or his side kick Watts

My line manager (only a few years ago) used to quote
*"Lets be careful out there" and " lets get them before they get us"
I told her she was showing her age...which rebounded on me lol

Dadadadada dididide. tune came straight to mind when I saw Vander valk. It was called Eye Level. Yes there are loads of things from the past we could watch, so why do we get the same old re runs all the time.Elaine.

Hope you are keeping well.

I think it was called "Eye Level" and was a number one hit in UK in 1973.

Now, I seem to watch more classic TV series from boxsets.

I agree there is a lot of rubbish on the TV and it is hard to find a decent programme as they are usually tucked away.
