The system over there must be very different to over here- Well done to the Dutch health service for amputating a leg, get it healed and a prosthesis fitted in 3 weeks AND learn to walk on it.

feel for the family right now, although once she is healed, up and walking there is no reason why she shouldn't go back to being the mummy she was, people ( and children) are quick to adapt

Such an awful thing to happen to anyone, especially with a young family.

Hoping all went well with today's op. and Ilonka will recover well and soon be back with her family.

Morning Joyce, I missed you as was watching tv for a bit.

I have been thinking about Ilonka so much, bless her, and hope the op goes ok, how far will the leg be taken to? She will need all her strength to cope with this awful accident but she sounds a determined lady and has a lot of family members to support her.

I wonder if later on she could get inspiration from Ash with his go karting and all the things he has done since July, maybe Izzy could send her a message from Ash or he could email her.

Will try and talk with you soon, maybe this afternoon, will text you if I get a chance.

take care of yourself
love

Hi Joyce, it's awful that Ilonka has to lose her leg as well, poor woman, she must be devastated and in shock. I hope she will be ok eventually and can adjust to the loss mentally. Hopefully the thought of her little ones will help her be strong and the same for Peter.
Will try and talk with you soon, o.h. is off work at the mo, back on Weds pm and Thursday am, maybe Friday am. You can guess who is having to do all the shopping and organising, and the rest of the chores.... he is poorly, has cold now and don't we know it?

Take care, all positive thoughts to Ilonka and her family.

I had a quick word with our Caz last evening, caught her at mealtime so only spoke for a few minutes, she said Ilonka and her husband have a working boat and that's where the accident happened. I expect the accident and disability will impact on their work/lifestyle too which is very hard for them.
I hope the family got through safely and Ilonka is holding up, she will need her loved ones around her and her children will be so frightened, with Daddy in the middle wanting to care for them but be with his wife. What a cruel world. I hope things go ok for them and Ilonka will get lots of support to eventually be mobile and well again.

I hope that she will have the strength to deal with the loss of her foot and the shock from the accident. I am sure, once they are over the shock the family will rally and she will be able to recover I hope and lead a normal life.
