Great to hear you won't take chances again Stray, hope you never have to put the belt to the test tho.

An idiot came out of a side road when I was driving my son to a special school do, and hit our car, luckily he wasn't going too fast altho it killed the door it didn't hurt my lad as he was in his child seat in the back, but it was a nasty shock for him and had there been a passenger in the front they would have felt a nasty bang as the door caved in. It was only a local area bump but apparently statistics show that many accidents happen close to home, hence the need to use the belt all the time even if nipping to a local shop or something.

Stay safe folks,

Both other half and myself always wear seatbelts.

Annx Report 27 Oct 2010 21:21

I always wear mine, but, for heaven's sake I wish they would adjust more so they didn't cut into my neck.........and don't start me on the chest area for us ladies.

Jane, I think you need a Mr Naughty one for your friend!! lol

Sharron Report 27 Oct 2010 20:30

I have had to do a driver awareness day for speeding so I always wear mine because I think I would get a lot of points if I was caught.
When I was a wild young van driver many moons ago I never wore one because I didn't have to,Now I am more of an old pootler I always do.

My car beeps if seatbelts aren't plugged in.My dog sits on the passenger seat in the front and it even beeps when he is sat on the seat and not belted lol
I have a friend who will often not put his on.If I am in his car and he pulls away without it I just give him a look (no words),and he does the right thing.
I have a furry cover to hold the belt off my neck when driving. It is bright pink and says Little Miss Naughty lol

All our family wear their seat belts without fail. Full Stop, Period or whatever you want to call it. No arguments.

We also advocate the "Rubber Stamp" policy, although some would go further and advocate it should be a permanent tattoo....!

Anyone caught being an idiot driver or passenger, gets their forehead stamped with the word "Idiot" We also have a lot of other terms which might be considered a bit rude on here, but I think you get the gist.....!

Lol Elisabeth, We often strap things in when we put them on the back seats so they don't become missiles but not done it with the front seat as I am usually on it!!!

Thank you Stray. We will all be happy knowing you are being careful.

It was funny, I was thinking about this thread this afternoon when I delivered Mum-in-law's shopping. I had put a couple of quite heavy bags on the passenger seat and the car was furiously beeping telling me to put the seatbelt on! I had to put the shopping on the floor!!

Thank you stray, that is what we want to hear. We only have your safety at heart. And thank you for being honest, you could easily have said you did always wear it. I appreciate that.

Always wear my seat belt and if anyone os in my car so must they or thy have to get out and use their own transprt.
My grandchildren always wear their seat belts and I have heard one of them tell an adult to do the same!
Driving is a dangerousoccupation and we should do everything we can to protect ourselves.

Maybe those who do not wear the seat belt for one reason or another should spend a week or so in any A&E department and visit people who have survived after terrible car accidents,,,it could be a lesson well learnt(or go to a morque and see some of the less fortunate who did not survive. )

Kitty, bless you . I am pleased you have found happiness again, and your granddaughter is doing well at uni.
I always wear a seat belt, feels strange to me if I dont put it on as soon as I get into the car. I have a friend who often goes in the back of our car and she hates the seat belt but I tell her she has to put it on. Dont want her taking us with her as she would do if we had accident .

I bought a couple of padded thingies to put on the belts to save rubbing at the collarbone area, o.h. doesn't like them so turns the driver one round every time he uses the car then I have to turn it back when I drive, can't understand why he doesn't just slide it down to his middle or somewhere, silly idiot.

Kitty, I can understand how your granddaughter was the reason to go on, it must have been devastating for you to lose your loved ones and so hard for her not to have her family around her as she grew up but sounds as if you have done a good job helping her and hope she does well at uni.
Great that you have found someone to spend the rest of your life with, you obviously still had a lot to give and someone saw that - continued happiness to you.

Yes. If it had not been for wearing the seat belt and the presence of the air bag, I feel certain I would have been killed in a head-on car crash.

I always try and avoid the seats at the front of the bus that have just a rail across, I feel very vulnerable without a belt. Wonder if our Stray had returned to this thread???
