Firefox and Adblock -- don't leave home without them!

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/

If you're not using Firefox you can download and install it quickly and easily and give it a try, and then add Adblock, also quick and easy.

Adblock automatically eliminates advertisements from most of the usual suspects, like doubleclick and wunderloop (the source of a lot here -- I can still see Firefox loading them, I just can't see *them*).

But you can also use Adblock to eliminate any advertisements -- and any graphics and pictures you don't want -- that escape its built-in filters, with two easy clicks.

For instance, I block all the loud ugly buttons with links to FriendReunited etc. at the top of GR pages, the Ancestry ads on FreeBMD, all the graphics at Ancestry, and so on. All of that junk just clutters up my monitor and takes up space and makes me scroll more.

Once you've tried it you'll smack your head and wonder how you ever lived without it. ;)

Hi Hazel, No I don't sign out either and usually up it comes no probs..I was on it then it was gone.........lol

Janey sorry don't have a clue what adblock is???

I can, do my tree, go on ancestry and do shopping, go on FB occasionally and I can now scan photo's and add them but thats about it for my computer literacy...

Julie Report 20 Sep 2010 16:29

I don't log out either

But i have noticed when i come on here through google chrome
Now i really don't know how to explain this lol

When you start up chrome you get pictures of the sites you have been on, so if i have had a problem with one say GR is having maintenance & i go to click on the picture it won't let me in untill i have a clear out

Please if that don't make sense just tell me to be quiet lol

Don't forget to try .com.au and .co.nz (I think that's how they go).

But for maximum benefit, use Firefox with Adblock!!!

No flashing ads here or anywhere (like Ancestry, last time I dared to look w/o Adblock).

I also recommend NoScript, although that takes a bit of tweaking to get it right for each site.

Definitely, definitely Adblock, though.

Also Julie has a point -- try deleting GR cookies.
