Hi Liz
Thanks
Had a word with the ward sister this morning,
They were hoping to operate today, but due to the infection in the same leg, they will not operate, incase infection spreads,
as soon as infection markers in blood are down, she will have the operation, sounds like it will be hip replacement, but will know more later.

She will be in for at least 2 weeks after operation, Could mean she could be i for a good 3 weeks plus from today.

She normally copes pretty well at home, although there are stairs - but she hopefully will be able to sleep down stairs, esp as bathroom facilities are also downstairs.

Hi Liz

so sorry your poor Mum had a fall, not the best way to relieve boredom but hope all will be well soon and she can get home, even if in plaster. Will she be able to manage at home or does she live in a care home already?

Take care, I know you will want to be with her often but don't put your own health at risk.

Hi Elizabeth, I dont think we have spoken before, so I'll say hello, sorry to hear about your mum, but you and your brother must not feel guilty has you both sound lovely "children" who do a lot for their mum and she knows that you cant be with her all the time. The poor nurse must feel aweful not being able to get to your mum in time.

I hope your mum makes a good recovery and please look after yourself.

Mum has been in hospital since 8 June - with cellulitus, the 2nd bout in less than 6 months.

I went in to visit here today, to find out that she had tried to get to the toilet, when stumbled by her bed and fell to the floor, The nurses saw her start to fall - could not get to her.

xray was taken, early this evening, and we found out just gone
8;30pm that she hasbroken her femur, (I was on the way home)
She will now be refered to the surgical team, to decide course of action.

She had been getting better, with the cellulitus - was complaining of being bored - she is registered blind as well due to macular degeneration, so is very bored as she cant read etc.

I feel guilty too - about not being there - but being diabetic myself, needed to get home, to eat, as had not eaten since breakfast -
Brother also visited - but had to go too and he feels guilty too.

She does understand we cant be there all visiting hours - we are still going to work, and when she is out will take holidays

Sorry for the rant, but feeling upset at moment.

Liz
