Morning all,

Very foggy cold morning and frosty too ,not going anywhere today I've got lots to do with present wrapping ,the cakes need the marzipan and icing on and I need to make some viennse fingers for son and family as they are their favorite there's a bit of ironing and hoovering to do too so plenty to keep me busy.

Anng I haven't seen any of this years Masterchef we have watched other years but there was obviously something on the other channel we must have watched.

Vera that will be nice having a meal on Christmas eve with the family ,your relish sound nice just the thing to have in a turkey sandwich.

Not watched Mastechef for three years now as oh used to like it.

Lovely to see the daffs flowering Gwyn a good sign Spring is on the way. I should look and see if the snowddrops are up yet. My Tete e tete in the troughs outside are poling through about an inch and a half and when I went up the garden today there's a red rose out on the wall but it looks a bit baggy.

I wonder what G has bought you Annx you'll have to let us know when you open it please. Do the flooded fields freeze over?

Anybody watching Masterchef celebrities? What did you think of the final result?

SuffolkVera Report 19 Dec 2025 21:13

How lovely to see the daffs and narcissus on your walk Gwyn. It cheers you up to see flowers coming already and makes you feel spring isn't too far away. I hope your cold turns out to be short lived. Wrap up warm when you go out as you don't want any chest problems on top of that nasty bout of pneumonia that you had.

That's good that Chelsea has found a job Mandy. I hope she enjoys working at the shop.

I wonder what your OH got you Annx. A book or a jigsaw would both be good but maybe it's something entirely different.

It's been a bright day but with a cold wind and it feels as though it's getting colder by the minute. I spent nearly an hour on the phone to my daughter this morning sorting out what I need to take to her house on Christmas Eve. She tells me that she has booked a table at a newly opened bistro near her for an evening meal on 24th. Her daughter, our eldest grandchild is flying down from Edinburgh tomorrow and daughter will pick her up at Stansted. I wrapped some bits and pieces that I have bought for everyone as table gifts "from Santa". I told OH to get something cheap and cheerful for me and have given him the wrapping paper and a label with my name on so that all the gifts look the same. I expect daughter will do table or tree gifts as well. Some of the gifts are quite silly. Two of daughter's friends are having Christmas dinner with us and I have got them a silly little game each so I hope they have a sense of humour.

I've also made some Spiced Cranberry and Orange Relish. It's probably meant to go with meat but when I made it once before I found it went well with cheese and crackers and it froze well. I've filled 3 small plastic freezer pots with it so I'll take one down to daughter for her to try.

Time to make myself some overnight oats for breakfast and get OH to do my last lot of drops for the day. Can you believe a week has gone by since the bus got lost? Where does the time go? Tomorrow I can reduce the number of drops I have to have by one. I hope they are doing some good as I can't feel any difference.

Evening all,

We went a bit earlier this morning to do a shop I got my veg from aldi and it all looked nice and fresh ,it's all gone down the shed in the cool in a box ,I did take it all out of the plastic bags so it doesn't sweat ,I'll keep a check on it and if it looks like it's going off I'll make soup and have to get some more but it did all look OK, I did climb up on the pallet and got mine from the back , I couldn't get cream as the dates weren't very long , I was hoping we wouldn't have to go out again as the traffic was quite bad today and the car park very busy ,I'm sure son and dil will always get a few bits if not .
The good news is Chelsea got a job today in a little One stop shop , not sure if it's something to do with Tesco's ,she has to go in on Monday and should start near Christmas so that was good news
Jake called in at lunch time as I noticed the butchers had their lovely big pork pies in and they soon sell out so I messaged him to ask if he'd save me one and he bought one down but he wouldn't let me pay him for it , I've put it in the freezer as I wanted it for boxing day .

Gwyn how lovely to see the narcissus and daffodils in a garden , they must be in a sheltered spot ,I suppose the milder weather has helped them poke their buds through the ground .
I hope your not in for a nasty cold or the flu over Christmas ,having your walk in the fresh air might have cleared your lungs .

Ann your OH might have bought you some art stuff as your now painting again .

Annx Report 19 Dec 2025 18:22

Afternoon All,

Very cold wind here today but sunny and dry although the fields and those beyond them along the main road were covered in flood water right up to the railway line. OH is keeping off the fields for his walks while they are so squelchy and headed to the garden centre with The Works in it half a mile away instead this morning. He said he'd got something for me for Christmas in there. I think it might be a book or a jigsaw, but he's not saying! We kicked ourselves this morning as we forgot to take 2 bin bags of paper shreddings when we went to the tip yesterday and the place we usually take them doesn't have their sign out requesting them at the moment. He popped in the Pharmacy for some of his prescription while we were out this morning and I told him to get some glycerine, lemon and honey, medecine, which he asked for, but the girl gave him Benilyn honey and lemon flavour which has other ingredients that we can't have with our meds, so that is going back.

I was looking for a draft button on GR too AnnG and the only one I could think of was on my email that saves things automatically. One would certainly be handy on GR!. I hope your leg is a bit better now and that you slept well. I thought the same about the Co-op's sprouts this morning so left them. The ones they had in a fortnight ago were lovely and looked freshly picked.

It's a shame Stu felt a bit shaky which isn't pleasant Mel, but at least he knew the likely reason. Your mention of Chilli reminded me that I had to sleep part sitting up the other night as I had indigestion after I picked out just the chicken bits and ate them from the mild chilli ready meal I had the other day. I thought I would be ok leaving the sauce and pasta with most in but no!

I want to get some of the cheap veg next week and make some soup/stews for the freezer. It's a good opportunity to save a few bob.

Oh Gwyn how amazing on your walk to see Daffodils and Narcissus in flower before Christmas! I hope your cold gets no worse and you shake it off quickly.

It's been a lovely bright, dry and mild day here, so I took myself off to hand deliver some cards in local roads. The fresh air was lovely and it was good to breathe it in and help the effects of a cold, I seem to be developing.
I feel OK though.
The garden with the yellow narcissus in bloom have quite a large show of them now.
I could hardly believe the height of some of them. One stem must be about 2 feet tall and has partly grown under a bush, then poked out the top.

It was a surprise to see 4 lovely daffodils fully out growing in another garden.

Spring is just around the corner. :-)

Yes I know where drafts are on the pc but it would be good if GR had it too.

Made a huge pot of soup this morning after I went up the shop to put the bluetac infront of the flowers on the windowsill and two big bowls full for a late lunch now its nearly time to think aboput getting some dinner I don't really want anything so can't get motivated.

Shot a rabbit too today and a nice surprise in the nest box this morning a nice egg.

I wonder if it was not genes I did it in but email when you do get a draft option. That is more likely I think.

Good afternoon all.. sunny here but a bitterly ice cold wind. We just did a quick visit to Morrisons to get stuff not on the expected Tesco delivery. They did have the reduced veg for sale and the carrots and parsnips looked ok but the sprouts were starting to show age so in my opinion not good enough to keep for Christmas..

Good question Mel and as it was only last week I did it I can’t remember. I think I looked at drafters elsewhere on the computer.

Back from Stu's and tonight we had chilli. He was'nt too good tonight very shakey but I asked if he had taken his pills and he told me he took them late so thats why he was a bit odd.

Glad you had a safe journey Anng and hope the legs better tomorrow. I sometimes get the fidgets in my legs in the car if I am a passenger and there's sometimes things on the floor of the foot pan in BIL's car.

Vera that was great you did'nt have to pay anything for the check on the car today and a nice comfy chair and a nice warming coffee too. Makes a change to get something for nothing nowadays.

Annx I have a lot of the Devon Mottoware in the kitchen on the plate rack. I even have the little teapot mum bought me when I was a little girl, it has For a good girl writen on the back. I also had a small cup and saucer but my aunt broke that. Somewhere I have nan's old vase with a windmill on it. She always put daffs in that.

So Anng where would we find the draft button on GR then?

Going to watch a bit of telly now and relax before bed.

Hope you all sleep well tonight night night.

Ann you were lucky to get to the tip before the rain came and how good was that getting the parcel before time .

Hope your leg pain eases for you Anng thats a long while to sit in the car if you can't stretch your legs out a bit ,even with a stop or two you then have to ho back to the same position again which doesnt help.

Well Vera that was a nice surprise getting a free check on the car ,it's good to know OH can drive it and not worry ,perhaps they oiled a bit and it's eased or freed something.

Gwyn I see the veg prices have gone down to 5p in Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons now and 15p in Tesco's, Sainsbury and Asda the veg war has started ,I can't think they'll go down much more .

Annx Report 18 Dec 2025 18:38

Well with OH's interruptions I ended up posting after Vera and AnnG had popped in! I must check before posting in future as OH often interrupts and wants something!

That was good to know the car is ok Vera and even better there was no charge!

I hope your leg soon recovers from the journey AnnG, but you seemed to make good time and avoided the rain. I sometimes set two alarm clocks these days as I don't trust myself to do it right. :-S
