It really isn’t my day. I had a text from Tesco saying they had technical issues at the store and were running late. The driver hopes to be here by 8.45 That was a while ago. Just had another to say still running late :-(. At this rate I’ll be putting the shopping away at midnight.

Ann, that's great that Cynth will be able to help you with lifts on Monday.- one less thing to worry about. I hope all goes well on the day.
Goodness Vera. That's enough to try anyone's patience !
Our doctor writes a prescription for 2 months supply of tablets at a time, but I often wonder why he thinks that 56 tablets are sufficient for 2 months, if I am to take one a day of one particular medication. The crazy thing is that the tablets are manufactured in boxes of 60 per box, so the pharmacist scribbles through the number and dispenses the prescribed number and cuts off the foil blister pack to adjust the correct number. Once in a while, I sometimes get a box of all the oddments to complete at least part of my request.
It's about 23 degrees here too according to my laptop, but I think it might be actually hotter than that. We've certainly seen - and felt- plenty of summer sun in this area lately.
A shame you missed the library, Mel. I hope you can get new books soon.
If your new bag of sunflowers is too heavy, do you have a spare sack you could put in your wheelbarrow and wheel it to the car and bale out some of the seeds into this 2nd sack? When you felt there is sufficient in the sack, just wheel the barrow to your storage area collecting the original bought bag later, once it is lighter to lift.
I noticed lots of blackberries on the side of the path, when I walked home earlier. I do like blackberry and apple crumble, but with all this hot weather, we are not putting the oven on much and certainly don't need hot desserts, so I may just pick some blackberries and either just wash and freeze them or wash, cook and freeze them for when we do want them. The other day, when the oven was on to cook a stuffed marrow, we cooked a tray of roasted vegetables at the same time, so they were ready for the following day. I think it will be some sort of salad for our meal today, as neither of us need hot meals, when we are already feeling too warm.
Daughters have done a boot fair today and then took some of the unsold items to a charity shop. They like that boot fair, as the hours are more practical. Sellers are allowed to set up after 10 a.m. and sell until 1p.m. Not that long, but eager buyers were queued waiting to buy goods before they had unpacked the car :-0 I went up on the bus to see how they were getting on, but the buses to and from that village are only one an hour, so I didn't stay too long. It's what I call a 'proper' boot fair though. I don't think they have any traders there. As it's a village sportsfield, drinks, refreshments and toilet facilities are all on site, so no catering vans etc are permitted.

Not bored vera, just pleased that you have it all sorted. And mosy unusual for a pharmacist to change the number of pills in a box. At the very least your attention should have been physically drawn to it.
Yes I am deliberately keeping busy to keep my mind off Monday :-D it works for a while then I suddenly remember and my tummy somersaults and I have to find something else to do. Lots of jobs getting done anyway so that can't be bad. I am so used to having these BCCs removed and don't normally take much notice or worry too much. But this time it is not the actual cutting and stitching that bothers me, It is where and how it is going to be done. I have sorted out a pair of glasses that are a lot narrower lens than mycurrany ones as I thin the stitches will be up to where my currant glasses rest. Luckily my sight has not changed a lot in the three years since I had them and I think they will be ok for getting me home.
I have just had a Tesco delivery, one sub (notified to me on my invoice, no large avocados, so a pack of two medium (half the price) And I always state 'no less than 3 days BB and this week I have ordered ready meals in case I don't feel like cooking. 5 ready meals all very well in date except one (notified) that was for Monday. As that didn't fit into my menu plan I said I would not accept it. I had a very nice young lady today who said 'I will refund the money but if you want to, you can keep it'. Which I did and put it in the freezer. She also picked on raspberries with a short date and asked me if that was OK. I couldn't be greedy, raspberries actually won't go off in the time I eat them.

Iv'e still got to find a place for this sack of sunflower seeds I bought. Its 12.5 kilos and I don't think my hands will pick it up. The lady in the shop put it in the car for me. May have to ask a neighbour.
I was'nt up that early this morning but I feel tired already. Its so miserable out perhaps I will feed the chickens and go and have another look at the Blackberries perhaps that will get me going.

It’s a scorcher again, 23 or 24 degrees but it feels hotter to me as the sun is blazing down and there’s hardly any breeze. The long range forecast is showing much the same for the next 10 days as well.
Mel, you’ll have to remember library first, then shops. Have you tried using the Libby app? It works like the library but you don’t go to a physical building, you just read or listen on your phone, tablet or computer. Check it out.
You’re keeping very busy AnnG. It’s good that Cynth can be your driver on Monday. We’ll all be thinking of you.
I’m glad you managed to get your art magazines sorted out Annx. Isn’t everything so difficult now? I remember many years ago someone saying when everything is done by computer what will we do with our time. I can now tell him. We’ll spend it sorting out all the problems caused by programming errors or data not being input correctly.
This morning I went back to the pharmacy to find my 3 missing boxes of tablets. I explained the situation to an assistant who checked on the computer and told me I had collected them on Wednesday. I pointed out that I had just explained that I was there on Wednesday but hadn’t been given my full quota. She called someone else over and eventually there were 4 of them clustered round the computer with the queue behind me getting longer and me getting more wound up. Eventually one of them took my one box to the pharmacist, came back and informed me there were 56 tablets in the box and the label on the front said so. The label was the one printed at the chemist and in very faint ink and fairly small print said 56 Tablets. Firstly, after taking these pills for 22 years I don’t read the label on the front anymore and secondly, the box itself says 28 Tablets in thick black print on each side. How on earth was I supposed to know that the chemist had stuffed 2 extra strips into the box? The assistant thought she had finished with me till I told her I still only had enough for 4 weeks and I was supposed to be getting them for 8 weeks. Back she went to talk to the pharmacist again and eventually I got my pills. I felt worn out and I think they were glad to see the back of me. I did wonder how someone less willing or able to stand their ground would have got on. What a saga, I should think you’re bored rigid by now.
I came home and did a load of ironing and after lunch I spent an hour in the garden but it was very hot and I’ve given myself backache and a bit of a headache but at least I’ve done something today. Tesco are coming later so I’ll have all that to unpack and put away as well. I am pleased as it’s a big order but there is nothing missing and no subs.
I think I’ll make a cuppa now and have a look at the crossword. OH is having a look at the back of his eyelids, as Mandy would say.

Went to Holsworthy again this morning to take my library books back and get some new ones but went in the factory shop firstfor a sack of sunflower hearts. Big mistake by the time I got to the library it was closed!!!! so I put my books in the returned bin and treated myself to a sandwich and a small bopx of chocolate ginger as compensation.
I did pop in the jewelers on the way back to the car and he reshaped my engagement ring and checked the stones claws were ok and did'nt even charge me. You don't get a service like that anymore. He's a nice chap and said he could probably do something with the ring I lost the stone out of years ago and oh found the stone years later. He said he could either put claws on it and something on the back so the stone is safe. He also buys gold jewelry so I can take in anything I don't want anymore.

Good morning all. 8 degrees, a bit misty but the sun is coming up so it looks nice. Having been awake early two days running my body clock decided I needed to get up early this morning too. I have for a long time, been waking early but usually doze for a while but brain was too active this morning. so my bed has been stripped and bedding is in the wash.
Continuing the list of post holiday jobs today but the list is getting shorter.
Yes Ann, I should be home the same day Monday. (although once about 20 years ago I was kept in over night for observation. No idea why and had to beg for a slice of toast in the evening (I had not eaten since the day before) and no breakfast as the day centre is not catered. That was under a general though, Monday is a local. Cynth is taking me and will come and get me when I let her know I am ready.

Evening All,
Well it hasn't felt as cool as it says here today, but it was freezing in the surgery this morning. I was in knee length jeans so I didn't need to undress and take more time but I had to wait over 40 minutes before I was seen and their seats are not comfy for that length of time.
It does sound funny to turn the fridge dial up to turn the temperature down Mandy. Just keep an eye on things to see they don't freeze! I nudge the dial up a bit at a time and turn it back when it gets cooler. I found it handy during the pandemic and started keeping the fridge just above freezing and lots of the food like salad and the veg kept a lot longer too.
What a shame the delivery driver hit the car. It must have been quite a bump, but at least he tried to find the owner. It's good your son and Jake will renew the shed roof. Jake will be learning too. The parking is only free here in the small villages and the retail park. In the bigger villages they sneaked charges in by starting with 10p, but we knew they would soon go up. Now with all the EV charging stations being put in, even the carparks have less spaces. You may have caught yours from BIL Mel, but I hope it clears up quickly. Cases of covid are rising here too and OH had people unable to come to meetings because they had covid before the schools broke up.
Oh Vera, I hope things will be right with your scripts now and that you can convince the pharmacy to give you the packs. I had a saga to sort myself today. I had 2 different art magazines from the same company for a while and because they were so similar I cancelled one. Instead of refunding me they added the rest of the year's cancelled magazines cost to my annual sub so it extended the renewal date. Unfortunately, they didn't change the existing renewal date, so I started receiving two of the same magazine for the past few months as my account still had two subscriptions. They suggested doing the same as before and extending the subscription with an extra number of magazines, but I decided on a refund instead and starting from scratch again!
After whirring into action, I then booked my RSV vaccination and a blood test, booked my car in for it's service and MOT, rang Boots and my stockings are ready, sorted the window man to come Sunday morning and paid some bills. OH kept busy out side and weeded a lot more of the garden and cut off some of the brambles coming over the fence from the field and has filled the garden bin now.
Not long to wait now AnnG. I expect you will be home the same day, so is anyone able to give you a lift?
I'm off to bed now and OH is watching some sport !

Oh dear Mandy. I feel sorry for both the delivery driver and the owner of the car he hit. It sounds as though your car parks are like ours. At the moment we get 3 hours free and the long stay car park is £2.50 for the day. The local council have been trying to bring in charges for years and years but there is always an outcry and it gets dropped but it now seems to definitely be happening. Free parking is about the only thing that attracts people from the outlying villages to our town. If they have to pay to park they might as well go to one of the bigger towns with more shops. Do you know what temperatures are indicated by the numbers on your fridge dial? I set the actual temperature on mine. I’ve got it at 5 degrees which works for us but I think we are usually told it should be below 5.
Your plums and blackberries look good Mel. Mmm, plum jam - love it. It brings back memories of childhood teatimes. I hope you haven’t caught a cold.
Gwyn, you are quite right; when others were moaning about the problems getting their scripts I was bragging about our wonderful system. The NHS are trying to save money by preventing people from ordering and stockpiling drugs they no longer need or often don’t take anyway. That’s fair enough I think but our docs have taken it to heart and instituted a difficult system that just doesn’t work efficiently. I have spoken to the surgery pharmacist this morning and she explained that it will all come right when I have reached 6 scripts so it has to be reissued. Then everything will be on one script. In the meantime I’ve got to go back to the pharmacy where I collect meds and persuade them that they have to give me another 3 packs of one of my meds. Doesn’t it make you want to scream :-P
On a happier note, thank you all for your congrats for granddaughter. It will be Nottingham and I am delighted for her and very proud. It’s one of the Russell Group of unis and very involved with research. The MRI scanner was invented and developed there in the department that E will be joining. I think it will suit her down to the ground and she has done well to be offered a place there.
It was a horrid sticky night again but seemed a bit cooler this morning. That didn’t last long . It’s now 24 degrees but feels hotter and “heavy”.
I took some chicken pieces out of the freezer this morning and need to decide what to do with them. Some sort of tray bake perhaps? Right now I think a nectarine and a drink would go down well.

I am still jam making. \It won't set but I forgot to bring it to a rolling boil before putting in the sugar and the lemon juice and should have brought it up to a boil then before timing it.

We had a delivery this morning of sheets for the shed roof the sheets on there have done well as Colin put those on when he built it over 35 years ago , son and Jake are going to put the new ones on . They said delivery would be next week so we were surprised when he turned up this morning, but the poor driver hit a parked car on the estate as he was trying to turn round ,we've no idea who's car it is as people park and walk through to the town so someone will have a nasty surprise when they come back as it pushed all the front wing Into the wheel arch so I don't think it can be driven as the metal will catch the tyre The driver went round a lot of the houses asking if it was there car so he did try to find the driver ,his manager came from the builders merchants and took some photos and also left a note on the screen , there's always people parking out the front as we're so handy for the town its only two or three minutes walk through the churchyard to the town and its going to get worse as the big car park is now going over to parking meters so people will now have to pay ,up until now all the car parks have been free to park ,some have a three hour parking limit.

I have had two cues and I have one tomato ripening on the plant I bought at the shop. I have some coming on the sungold and the BIG tom plants from seed from a neighbout who gave me one of her BIG toms and I saved the seed. Which reminds me its feeding Friday so must do them today.
