Good afternoon all. Sun is just about breaking through, was a bit chilly earlier.

Just been food shopping with Son Best way to do it he buys, pays, packs carries and unpacks and puts it all away. And he buys me coffee and a lemon muffin in Costa inside Tescos.

I have to have certain presents ready as we will visit Hampshire inn October at the end of our New Forest week. So need to take presents then. It is two families of corse so quite a few.

Mandy what a shame that you missed that lady. Keep trying.

All the time I am at home I never watch any sport. Unfortunately DiL and granddaughter are not bothered about TV so the only thing ever on is sport. Non stop football occasional F1, cricket if it is on. I just read but it is going to take ages to catch up with the soaps and Masterchef.

Thank you for your good wishes!

Oh Vera we are all thinking about your toe now! lol :-D Did you stub it somehow? Good news about your eyes though and I hope your back soon improves and that you manage to get a good night's sleep.

Yes AnnG I remember from holidays finding plants were tricky to transport unless they were small like house leeks! You are doing well with your start on buying some Christmas presents.

Mandy fancy you missing the lady in the wheelchair twice! lol. perhaps she was coming by to see if you had put anything else out!! Gosh you are speeding along making the gnomes and now you are making a reindeer. I must check our tip and see if we have to book again.

Happy Anniversary to you both Ann enjoy your chocolates.
Two Gnomes done and I'm now on a reindeer one, I looked on the camera the other day and blow me the woman who took the things went through twice and I missed her both times ,thought I might catch her going back but she went down the churchyard and not through past ours .

Chelsea's birthday today she was pleased with the bits we bought and the money .

Oh Vera what have you done to your toe ,I cut the front grass after lunch and I usually put the plug through the bathroom window and plug in the hall ,well I put the plug through the open window but I didn't push it in far enough as it dropped out and caught the back of my hand as it fell talk about a pinch and it bled ,think I'll have a bruise there tomorrow.

Happy anniversary to you both Annx
No plants bought, a bit too much bother to transport them, although son has said I can if I want to.

It is quiet here now, DiL has taken grandson to the train he is off back to Leeds, granddaughter has just gone to work and son is just on a business call.

Vera I have a metal clip on plate at the top front, my last new one was just pre Covid, it cost me around £500. Our surgery is mostly private but the prices still seem reasonable.
What have you done to your toe, go on you know you want to talk about it.

SuffolkVera Report 18 Sep 2024 16:24

It’s a beautiful day here; 22 degrees and sunny though it’s got quite breezy in the last hour or so. I ought to be gardening but my back doesn’t seem to want to improve this time and I don’t want to make it worse. I feel as though I’m living on pain killers as it is. I feel a bit guilty to be moaning as so many people are worse off than me.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ANNX AND MR ANNX. I hope you are enjoying your day.

Yes, the metal plate feels much lighter than a plastic one but you cannot get them on the NHS. In the 1960s to mid 1980s I had a partial NHS plate and they were constantly snapping in half. When we moved to Suffolk we went to a very good NHS dentist and I was talking to him about how many plates I had that had broken. He said he could get me a metal one made and I would never go back to a plastic one but it could only be done privately. He told me the cost and I nearly fainted but OH said to go for it. The dentist was right - I’ll never have an NHS plate again. I forget I’m wearing it as it is so light and comfortable and never moves so you can bite and chew just like having your own teeth. The biggest downside is the cost. I dread to think what my small plate with 4 teeth would cost now but I’d guess over £1000. Luckily mine just needs a repair but even that is costing me £260.

I think that’s more than enough about my teeth. AnnG, you are getting well ahead with your Christmas bits and pieces. I wish I was as well organised. We tend not to start thinking about Xmas till the beginning of December. The grandchildren tend to get money these days. I wouldn’t try to buy the girls clothes as they all have their likes and dislikes. One is saving for a car and one is saving for a piano so money is usually welcome.

I’ve had a Sainsbury delivery this afternoon. No subs and nothing missing so that was good. The delivery man noticed just a couple of drips of milk at the bottom of his crate and decided one of my 6 pint bottles must have a leak so he refunded me the cost but left the milk with me so my week of good deals is continuing.

Another good thing today was that the postman brought a letter from the eye hospital about my last tests and examination. It said “no new vessels on iris, disc or elsewhere, no macular oedema” which is better than I expected so I am very pleased. Macular oedema is swelling on the macular caused by the vein problem and, although it had stabilised, this is the first time in 2 years the doctor has said there is no swelling anymore.

I’ve bored you with my back, my teeth and my eyes - what else can I tell you about my physical condition? Shall I tell you about my bruised toenail? No? I’ll sign off then. Enjoy the rest of your day and sleep well tonight.

Annx Report 18 Sep 2024 15:00

Afternoon All,

Sunny here and 19 degrees so a nice day. Neither of us slept very well last night, OH with his head pain and I was feeling a bit ropey and had a strange dream that woke me. I dreamt I was at a meeting with strangers and we were all waiting in a dimly lit room. It had old fashioned decor and furniture and was gloomy and I decided I must be in the wrong place, but couldn't find the way out. Everywhere was dimly lit and wherever I found a door at the end of corridors it was locked. I went back to the room with people waiting and decided to ask someone about the meeting and found I had completely forgotten every word of the english language! I was desperately trying to remember some of my schoolgirl french when I woke up.

It is our wedding anniversary today so we had a lie in with a COT while we opened our cards. Then we showered and went to refuel my car and call at the shop. We came back with a nice double layer Cadbury's Milk Tray box to share and ordered lunch at home as OH had a last minute zoom meeting organised for just after lunch time. He's out again tonight as it is a busy time with schools just now.

Thanks for reminding me Mel, I must do some bed changing too and might also do a bit in the garden. Have you decided what are you going to cook this time? It's good to prepare what you can in advance, less to do later then.

You certainly got yourself some bargains yesterday Vera. We have an Iceland in the next village and I keep forgetting to pop in there. It used to be an Waitrose before that. I also want to go and look at the Aldi that's open again after having 'improvements'. OH had a metal plate and said it was less bulky in the mouth too. I'm glad the impressions weren't as bad this time especially with having three of them. I hope you won't have long to wait for the new one.

I see you have visited a garden centre and had a nice lunch out AnnG and have bought a few things. Did you get any plants?

AnninGlos Report 18 Sep 2024 14:03

Hello all. This morning we went to a large independent garden centre. One that I used to like when we lived near enough to visit. Bought several Christmas presents ready to wrap and take to Hampshire in October. That was with son.
We then met up with daughter in law for lunch where I had a lovely omelette with cheese, ham, mushrooms and peppers. Just got back now. It is 20;degrees here sunny with a light breeze.

Good that your car passed its MOT Ann and great that it was only £2 dearer than last year.

Glad the impression was not as bad as anticipated Vera. Even with my plate in I can’t bite on an apple.

Mel those chickens keep you busy don’t they, still at least they repay you with eggs.

Morning all,

Another nice bright sunny morning here and its 14 degrees and pc just says sunny.

Going to do some cooking today as Stuart is coming here tomorrow for dinner so I want to get things ready for a quick cook if that makes sense. Apart from that I may chnage the bed and wash that and wash my hair.

SuffolkVera Report 17 Sep 2024 21:08

It's been a lovely warm sunny day. It was a bit nippy first thing and it's cooling down quickly now but it was really lovely in the middle of the day. It would have been a good gardening day but I am still having to be very careful with my back and, anyway, we have been busy with other things.

We have a Farm Foods shop near us and once a month they put a leaflet with all the offers through the door. If it's something I would normally buy I go and stock up while things are on offer. Today I got 3 of the 2.1Kg bags of oven chips, 8 individual meat pies and 2 giant size (and I mean giant!!) containers of Comfort fabric conditioner. As I only use it occasionally that's going to last me a few years I reckon. I also wanted 2 giant bottles of Persil liquid detergent but they had already sold out of that. I spent £31. I've just costed the same products at Sainsbury's and they would have cost £44.30 so it was a decent saving.

Then I went to Iceland for some cakes and some Del Monte frozen fruits. I get 10% off on Tuesdays there, and I finished up in the Co-op as that's the only place I can get the middle size jar of Branston's Pickle. I bought their entire stock of 3 jars.

After that it was a quick lunch and off to the dentist. The impressions weren't nearly as bad as the last time I had them. The dentist did bottom teeth, top teeth without plate and top teeth with plate. Mel, the metal plates last practically forever and although I do still have a very old one I can't use it. It's very uncomfortable and won't stay in position properly. Over the years gums have receded, teeth have been filled and sometimes rebuilt and where metal hooks go round my own teeth they just don't fit anymore. I also always have a mask in my bag and some in the car "just in case" but I'm not too self conscious so I haven't bothered to wear them. I can't take a bite out of a crunchy apple but otherwise I can eat fairly normally so don't have to worry about soft food. Tonight I had smoked cod loin, baby potatoes and a mound of crunchy stir-fried vegetables.

In between all this I seem to have had loads of phone calls, including as full hours chat with my daughter which was good.

It sounds as though you've been having a good clear out in your shed Mandy. I keep making noises about our garage/shed needing a good sort out but so far it's falling on deaf ears.

I expect you're pleased that your car is through the MOT and service with no major problems Annx; and at a good price too.

I hope you've had an enjoyable day AnnG. Has the baby got a name yet?

I'm now going to get myself ready for bed and then sit up with pillows and a wheat bag propped behind me and watch something on the iPlayer. Sleep well everyone.

Not done a lot today. Did do my pond filter and put the shopping away and varnished one little pot so I can paint it. Cleaned the chickens water bowl out and refreshed it with Poultry Drink. washed out the bird bath and thats about it I think. I need to have a clear out in my shed and a hoover up of dead flies which seem to have gone in there and died when I hav'nt had it open cos of the rain. I shall take the little hoover in there and get rid of them all. Jenny Wren ususally goes in there and eats them but I think there's just too many for her. A bird did fly out as I went to the door but I did'nt see if it was her or Robbie.

I hav'nt had a teacake for years and I just fancy one now. Perhaps Asda do them I shall have to look. Think its something we used to have in the winter.

Annx Report 17 Sep 2024 18:55

Afternoon All

Another lovely sunny day and 18 degrees now, but it was chilly and misty first thing. We took my car to the garage in the village for 8.30am and caught all the senior school traffic queuing. I asked if they could not pull the handbrake on so hard this time and was told the likely culprit had left now so there shouldn't be problem. The car passed and was ready by 3.00pm and the service plus MOT cost £245.70 which was just £2 more than last time so that was good. On the way home I noticed the carwash was working so they haven't closed down and so I might call in tomorrow.

The baby was a good size AnnG and I see your connection now! You've made me think that I should see if I can bring my maternal grandmother's side more up to date to see how many great or possibly even great great grandchildren she had before she died.

I'm the same as you about letting people out Mandy! It's good to do some shed sorting for the tip while it isn't so cold yet. OH sorted some things from the garage to top up the rubbish bin yesterday. Any more gnomes and have you spotted the lady go by who didn't pay for the things she took yet?

Oh Vera I hated impressions being done at the dentist! They seem to put so much of that gluey stuff in the tray and then when they take it out it feels as if your remaining teeth will get sucked out with it! The pandemic was good with the masks as we can still wear one to cover some of our face if we need to when we go out without it seeming strange anymore.

Good morning all, nice bright and sunny morning and warm in the sun. Son just took me to Dobbies, he had a full breakfast and I had a toasted tea cake. I think when DiL gets back from visiting her mum we are going out to lunch. Just bought a couple of bits for the Christmas present drawer.

Mandy probably is snuggling into his blanket to get it infused with his smell again.

Vera ooh I hate it when I have to be without my plate, mine has four teeth on too. Yes impressions are not nice, all that gloop. Hope that went OK

Morning all,

Very overcast here but should be another nice day we want to get out and I'm going to sort more stuff in the shed and Colins going to chop some logs, we had some logs given to us last year and they are now seasoned enough to burn but some are so big they need chopping into four pieces, we've had them stored behind the fence covered and yesterday I stacked a lot of the smaller logs in the woodshed .

Ann we have trouble getting out of our road sometimes but there's usually someone who will let you out , I let people out if they are sitting there but if they are trying to push in I make them wait .

Oh no Vera more expense as our Frank use to say and soft food too for a few days .

Right better get Max's bedding on the line ,he's not keen when I do that and hang it out he keeps looking at it wondering why it's hanging there ,he loves it when it's clean he really snuggles in to it .

SuffolkVera Report 17 Sep 2024 08:22

Good morning all

It looks as though it might be a nice day.

I have an upper metal plate with 4 teeth and before we went away I badly chipped 2 of them and the back of one is worn where it rubs on my lower teeth. So it’s off to the dentist this afternoon. I don’t need a new plate, this one will be repaired but I have to have full top and bottom impressions to make sure it still fits right. I am not looking forward to that. I’m also going to be without my plate until Friday which will seem odd as I’ve had a plate since my 20s.

We had a lady magistrate come to talk at the Club last night. She is chief of the Essex bench which now has 220 magistrates.. It was a very good talk and she was very entertaining and informative.

I’ve been up over an hour so I’d better have #ome breakfast, shower and get to the shops. I won’t want to go out all gappy so need to do everything before I go to the dentists.
