good morning all. I hope that you all remembered to put your clocks forward. I just have the kitchen wall clock to do, couldn't be bothered to do that one last night. I seem to be getting enough sleep although it is in one to two hour stretches. I might try leaving the third pillow off tonight as it is my neck that wakes me up aching at having to be in an awkward position.
ann, yes I open my lounge door to let the heat in too when the sun makes the conservatory hot. I have some bedding geraniums in pots and troughs from last year in the conservatory and they are flowering beautifully in there, they love the heat. they will probably die when I eventually put them back out side.
I am going to have to work out how I can wash my hair today without getting my temple wound too wet. Should be fun.

Evening All,
As Mandy said it has been a bitter wind here although bright and sunny. OH rang the garage and they said they'd check the tyre anyway and the new one was in case it was needed. Well it was needed as there was a rusty nail in it where it couldn't be repaired so MORE EXPENSE and a cost of £190. I expect it was picked up on the big industrial estate where we went to look at the carpets and beds. I took OH to go and collect the car (walking pole was still there which pleased me) and had to tell him to stop talking on the way so I could concentrate on which way I needed to go as I hadn't driven that way since before the pandemic and there were changes and it's busier. Remember he can talk and ask questions all the way to Cornwall from home! I can understand you finding a lot of chat tiring Mandy, especially as you aren't 100% yet, but it was good the hairdresser swept up when she'd finished. Yes OH did wrap up well and just made it to a local match after getting his car.
That's good you managed to succeed with the tablet Mel. It sounds like BIL found his second wind after another sleep, but it's a shame he needs another part before the mower can be mended. Either mending them or mowing seems to take a lot of his time. My BIL used to mow for the council using those gang mowers that were towed along.
Our conservatory was warm so I opened the door to the lounge AnnG to help warm it up. I hope you are feeling a bit better with the dressings gone and will be more comfy in bed tonight. It is another day less to having the stitches out now and I've found that that makes a big difference.
Mind you don't overdo it Vera, you've done a lot and don't want to set yourself back. I still need to finish the bathroom tomorrow as hanging around for news of the car made it not worth changing into clothes for cleaning in. I wish we'd had your tyre bill instead of ours! There was more bad news as the garage told him that another two of his tyres need replacing soon, so he needs to get that done before his MOT in June! I was told the same about mine at my last MOT but that they would last to the next one in the autumn so it's a year of replacing tyres for us!
Gwyn, similar to your daughter we had to use annual leave by the end of the tax year. I think we could carry over 10 days, but no more. Also we had to book any full week's leave we wanted in the year in January, which could be hard to decide. All the people who had children would want Christmas weeks through to New Year, but some of us had to come into work to provide cover and answer phones for the public. I never minded working over Christmas with just Christmas Day and Boxing Day off. Staff who came into work would bring in all kinds of food and the public didn't expect us to be working so the phones were quieter and so I could catch up with all my work and tidy my stationery and desk.
I should have posted this ages ago and just got up to check something and remembered.

Gosh Vera you go from one extreme to the other. Hope all that activity helps you sleep tonight.
Actually it is all a bit confusing. I was told if there are sterri strips, leave then they will fall off on their own. Well that is the only dressing on the head (temple) wound, right arm I removed the dressing but there are Sterri strips underneath. Right arm clear under dressing so once removed Vaseline was applied. I checked most of this out on the NHS site on google and that said apply a light breathable dressing if you want to so that is what I have done but I fail to see how I can put Vaseline on when there are sterri strips.

NO BIL arrived said he had a very bad night with only a little sleep so he dropped off the petrol and went home I got my parcel off ok as the tablet worked ok and I have to look at them all on the pc so they are then on the tablet when I get to the shop.
Came home and unloaded and got the cakes for my neighbours and put them in a box got the bunch of daffs and my bucket that Simon was goiung to drill a hole in to fit a drinking thing on it and off I went to the top. went in and had a cuppa with Janine and Simon had one of his cakes but Janine saved hers for later. We had a good natter and when I came home who was parked infront of the bungalow but BIL with the mower out on the front. I said to him I thought you were tired he said he'd had a sleep and come back. Anyway it was'nt what he thought and he has to order another bit and he said he will have to take the hweel off to see if he can fit it that way as its very awkward. When he's gone I did some painting.

Evening folks
I am OK (ish), thank you. I'm still not sleeping much and my funny head comes and goes, depending on how much work I've been doing but it's not in my genes to sit around when I know there are jobs to be done.
I have been busy again. Yesterday I started with a towel wash and while that was washing and drying I gave the upstairs of the house a good clean - not before time. I seemed to be hoovering, dusting, wiping down etc. for most of the morning. Then it was some admin. and checking on the plants overwintering in the conservatory before it was time to prepare and cook our dinner. I had intended to post after we'd eaten but I was so tired I didn't want to do anything.
Today I've made a pot of soup. We are going to have soup followed by a tuna and egg salad tonight and there's enough for 2 lots for 2 people to go in the freezer. Then I potted on some cuttings that were in the conservatory. They are now in a larger trough but still inside as the nights are pretty cold still. It's also been one of those days when every few minutes OH has wanted me. All I keep hearing is "I can't find..." or "I've forgotten the password to..." or "Can you just come and look at this on the computer". Over the course of the day I reckon I've wasted a couple of hours sorting OH out.
It's been an odd day; one minute it's bright sunshine, then grey and cloudy, then rain, then back to sun again. The wind had dropped this morning but by lunchtime it had got back up again and it was quite cold in the gusts.
Did bil manage to sort out the mower Mel and did you get your parcels packed without getting in a muddle?
Mandy, that's kind of you to make the rabbit eggs and hang them out for the children to take. I'm sure they will love them.
AnnG, I hope you are more comfortable now the dressings are off and you can have vaseline on your scar areas. Perhaps you will be able to sleep more comfortably now.
Did OH get his car back with a new tyre Annx? I hope it was all done to his satisfaction. I'm still not sure what the tyre chap did on our car but he took the wheel right off and, according to the invoice, it appears to be something to do with the "osf rim seal". I assume osf is offside front.
That was a bargain heated throw Gwyn. It will keep you cosy when it's cold. Thanks for the mention of the cheaper vegetables. I'm hoping to sort out a delivery from either Tesco or Sainsbury's for Wednesday so I'll have a look at their veg before I decide which one to book.

Afternoon all,
It's been a nice sunny day so far ,the sun is really warm through the window but my goodness if you go outside that cold wind cuts you in half . Hair dresser has been so we're all fine for another six weeks but my goodness I'd had enough by the time she finished ,it just seems to drain me ,even just talking in company .she was so good though she hoovered up all the hair for us bless her .
Gwyn thank you for the reminder about the veg ,I usually stock up and store it in the cool shed where it keeps for a few weeks .
Anng hope your scars are OK once the dressings come off , perhaps they might ease a bit without the pressure from dressings .
Mel hope bil can mend the mower ,I wondered if it was still under guarantee as it doesn't seem that long ago he bought it .
Ann hope OH get the car back OK and the tyre was repaired ,is he off to footie today ,he will need his thermals on today .
Hope Vera's OK and just busy as I don't think she posted yesterday .
I'm now going to have a lazy afternoon doing a little crochet ,I saw some little crochet rabbit eggs so thought I'd see if I can make some , I've done one, now on the second I thought I'd hang them on the fence so children can help themselves as they go past over easter.

Trouble is Gwyn, even if you add the veg to your on line order at the beginning of the week for the weekend, if it gets all bought up bu vising customers none will be reserved for orders. As it is only me for Easter it doesn't really ffect me but thanks for the heads up.
Godd morning all, 7 degrees and sunny so not too warm and another day of doing little. Although I have put a wash on. Fortunately that is not very energetic as long as I don't bend own too much. Dressings come off later today and vaseline goes on with a light dressing maybe to protest clothes.

Bright and sunny here too, but it feels chilly in the strong breeze. Lots of blue sky.
Hope you get the post sorted, Mel and that B in L is able to fix the mower.
Many of the supermarkets will have cut price offers this coming week on some of the usual vegetables, as they do at Christmas. I think offers start on Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the store.
Best check online for your favoured supermarket, if you are interested.

Morning all,
Nice and bright here today but its cold at the moment at 6 degrees.
BIL is coming today to see if he can do the mower himself. He can actually do it its just he like to have it done for him most of the time.
I have to sort out three orders and am sure to get in a muddle, two are combined postage but I just hope I send the right things to the right people and the tablet dos'nt play up showing the labels.

That was a good idea AnnG and would be a welcome distraction and nice to have a chat with the others too to take your mind off the discomfort. I hope you have a better night tonight.
Mel the tall hedge has a field behind it and isn't trimmed very often so he could have squeezed himself almost out of sight inbetween the branches, but he stood a good foot away from it in the road. It was like watching a hosepipe and I had to swerve to go round him! It's a narrow road and where you turn in it has a tall solid fence the opposite side of the road that has back gardens behind it and so no bungalows overlook the top end of the close as it bends before the bungalows come into view.
Yes I expect there must be too many kinds of tyres for them to stock them all and now EVs have different ones as well, as the garage asked him if it was an EV. Yes keep reminding Stu about a spare as it saved me all this hassle when I had a puncture. They just turned up and changed the wheel on the drive and I drove the car to the garage after and they mended the puncture for me and swapped the wheel back so I could keep the worn one as the spare. The car has gone on a trailer to a garage about 5 miles away now and should be ready to pick up by lunchtime tomorrow. I have a feeling OH has forgotten to tell them to only fit a new tyre if it can't be repaired. I thought he may have given the impression the squirty repair stuff had ruined it so he's ringing them in the morning. I keep a collapsible lightweight nordic pole at the side of the passenger seat in case I need it. It's one of a pair and both of us forgot it was there when OH emptied the car, so I hope it doesn't go missing. Hopefully they won't need to get in the passenger side, so it may not be noticed.
Gwyn what a bargain with the throw and very handy to have too to keep you cosy. I bet those will be sold quickly so you were lucky to get one.

Do you mean to say the postman was standing in the road doing what he had to do Annx. He could have stood against the hedge or was that to someones garden? Gone are the days when a garage kept nearly every size of tyre. There are so many different cars now and types of tyre. I asked Stu yesterday to look out for a spare for me again. I think he forgets but that could be the parkinsons.
Gwyn they are certainly keeping an eye on you after the pneumonia episode but it must make you feel a lot safer.
Anng could you not put a bit of vasaline on your stitches etc that may stop they pulling so much.
Yes it was nice to be asked to Easter Sunday dinner he said he's doing roast beef so I am looking forward to that.
Mandy I think Fridays come around quickly too I can't understand how it a Monday and then suddenly its Friday and the weekend and I am not getting enough done during the week.
Posted a parcel today and had another look in the Cake Safe but they was'nt the cake in there I had the other day and I did'nt fancy any of the other kinds so I came home and made 18 cup cakes in a coffee flavour and when they have cooled down I am going to put some buttercream on them, coffee flavoured and a walnut on top of that.
Enjoy your evening all and I hope you all sleep well tonight.

Yes Mandy I did wash them well. I could understand that it was urgent, but it was the way he didn't bother to wait till I'd driven by and stood in the road rather than step forward and let the bushy hedge hide his particulars. I hope your get up and go has found it's way home, or at least some of it has.
Well OH rang the breakdown people, who are coming in the next hour or so. They asked that we check the tyre place we usually use have the right tyre, so OH rang them and they didn't! So he had to ring elsewhere to another place they suggested and they are getting a tyre in the morning. So it looks like the breakdown people will take the car there, probably with me going there to bring OH back.....not sure till they arrive. What a faff everything is nowadays.
Gwyn that's a lot of heart checks, but they are being thorough and hopefully you will get the all clear soon.

That sounds a tasty meal you cooked for Stu. No wonder he enjoyed it. Now you have a lovely Easter meal to look forward to, as well., Mel.
Your face sounds painful AnnG and I know any pressure does result in bruises, but I'm sure they will soon fade. Not much spare skin to pull on, over the face, so that doesn't help the comfort levels either. At least with poor weather, you won't feel that you are missing out on valuable gardening time. I hope you manage to have a restful day. I can manage to doze in an armchair, if needed, but I know that doesn't suit everyone.
I hope Vera and Mandy manage to pace themselves today too.Retirement seems such a busy time :-S Vera, I know what you mean, when you mentioned striped shirts.I hope you find a suitable colour and style sometime. Our school blouses were bold blue and white equally spaced stripes and Mum often mentioned that the stripes seemed to 'move', when they were being ironed and indeed must have been quite daunting, if anyone suffered from migraine.
Daughter is off work for a couple of days using up some of her annual leave, before losing it, when the new financial year starts. We had a bit of a shopping spree yesterday with some good bargains in Dunelm, where they were selling off many winter stock items. One thing I bought was a heated throw. Elder daughter has one and finds it cosy, as you can warm the person, rather than the room, if necessary. My new one was £10 now, down from £40. I might be needing it if the weather doesn't improve ;-)
Wednesday's doctor was true to her word and I got a phone call this morning to arrange an echocardiogram on Monday. I had an CT on Wednesday, so they should then have a clearer picture of whether or not last year's issues post-pneumonia have fully cleared. i think that will be echo. number 4 or 5 :-0
Annx I hope your OH's appointment comes soon.

Morning All,
I got up just once in the night but was awake from 6.00am and it was light already. OH's tyre got him home but was really flat as a pancake this morning. He'd forgotten he had no spare wheel, but shouldn't attempt lifting one anyway and we didn't want to use the stuff you squirt into the tyre which ruins it unless we have to. He needed to get to a 10.00am meeting so he's taken my car and will ring the breakdown people when he gets home.
Vera I see the garage soon sorted your car tyre out and much cheaper than needing a new tyre which is good. It might have been the valve leaking. I used to pop in B&M when we went to see OH's parents as some of their things we good. Not sure about the giant pink gnome in the garden. lol :-D It might scare off the Pigeons we get though. Yes since Christmas OH has started to be more like his old self and coming out with quick quips and I had to chuckle myself. I washed my hands after I opened the post.
We had a sharp shower here after OH had gone so no filling of the garden bin today now everything has had a soaking. I cleaned some of the bathroom, mainly the tiles around the bath that go up to the ceiling, have started the dishwasher and done some admin and stopped for a COT
The meal sounded very nice Mel and it's good that Stu enjoyed it. Nice to get an invite for Easter Sunday lunch too. I think I will buy loin instead of chops next time I go to the farm shop. It has less fat and it took me ages to cut the fatty rind off the pork chops I bought last time. I think my knives need sharpening too so that's another job to go on the list.
That's a nuisance the swelling is being a problem with your sight too AnnG. If any dressing isn't in the way maybe holding a dry flannel with ice cubes in a polythene bag or a freezer cooling bag pack rolled in it might help a bit with the swelling. It will be good when the next couple of days are over and it all hopefully is well on the way to healing well. Perhaps catch up on a bit of sleep today as you can't do your hobbies with your sight affected.

Mel the meal sounded good and christmas pud to finish sounded good too ,that's nice to be Invited out for an Easter lunch saves you cooking .
Ann that a nuisance about the bed base so your now back to finding another one. Hope OH got home OK with the puncture, more expense as dear Frank would say .
Vera thats good OH got his tyre sorted ,did they put a tube in ? I don't know if they still use tubes these days . Nice to have a sit down with friends for a coffee and chat after a busy week .
