That sounds fun Mandy and as you say ideal for using up small amounts of leftover wool.

Goodness Ann, I hope your carrots do well at that price :-0
It must be a job to know what to pack with the weather being so changeable.

I hope Vera... and everyone has a more restful night.
Wouldn't it be lovely to go to bed at a reasonable time and have restful sleep until morning... like many of us used to.

Mel
I hope you can get OH's machine working sometime. You are facing alot of diruption with yours lately. Maybe someone could set that up for you rather than spend money on yours.
Maybe like me you don't like change, but sometimes we just have to take the plunge and go with it to prevent further angst.

Annx
I hope OH was not too disappointed about the local match. Probably a good idea to come home though, that wind was bitterly cold, although the sun was seeming to give false reassurance.

Not long back from a local walk
Each week brings more changes, at this time of year. Several hawthorn trees have lots of blossom out now and the gardens are full of spring flowers- mostly bluebells, tulips, wallflowers and forget-me-nots. Very pretty.
I walked near a lake and a stream, but didn't see one duck or moorhen today :-(

I won't have access to the internet for a few days. I'll 'see' you all again when everything is sorted.

Ann this new book is Pixies , Fairies,a Toadstool house and Bluebell Cottage , I thought
it will use up a lot of my little balls of wool ,the houses are about twelce inches high and Pixies and fairies about seven and a half inches high .

Just had some hail here too Mel it was knocking on the front window .

My goodness Anng those carrot seeds were a price :-D

That is me packed now, Had a trip out with my friend over the road, she needed to return something to The Range and then she wanted to go and look at the local caravan sales where they had an open day (she does have a van), after that it was lunch time so we called into the local garden centre and I had a toastie )cheese and onion jam).

I only had a few bits of clothes to pack when I got back and that is all done now..

It is certainly April showers today so the garden is starting to freshen up. I did but a packet of carrot seeds in the carden centre (£319 now phew).I have planted a few, will do a few more when I come back. At least they have been watered in.

The neighbour who died is not having a funeral. His wife is starting Chemo on tomorrow or Tuesday, not sure which so they decided on no funeral.

Good nearly afternoon girls,

Sunny morn iing here but pc says rain on the way this afternoon and it 10 degrees.

I have over slept again so I think I must be stealing Mandy and Anng's sleep. When I got up for my second bathroom visit I looked at my hone and it was 11.39am !! so I have lost most of the day already.

Today I hve a elbow ache from being on the keyboard too much so I am giving the bookmarks a miss for the rest of the day.

As I have said before this pc is'nt worth someone coming to sort it out as its too old and won't update to windows 11. I need some one to come and fit me up with oh's pc which he only used for 8 month before he died. That one has windows 11. He asked me then if I wanted windows 11 and I told him I had only just got used to windows 10. Wish I had now. BIL is not as good with pc's as oh was and anything for a quick job which is why he reinstalled Firefox instead of looking to see what was wrong and now its given me sso much more work to do when I could be doing other things.

Annx Report 12 Apr 2026 11:59

Morning All,

It's trying to be sunny here, but the sky looks quite grey. OH has just found a footie match up the road on the school ground for this morning so did a few minutes weeding round the back of the greenhouse and has walked up to watch it. He went to watch it recently but it was cancelled. He's going to a match further afield on Tuesday night with his pal who starts a new job soon at an undertakers! Not everyone's cup of tea but he has worked at an undertakers in the past so knows what to expect

Yes we have been busy in the back garden in short stints with breaks and are pleased with progress. Much more to do though to get it back in some sort of order before we decide what to change and to get someone to remove the old shed and arbour that's rotten and do other things including levelling and taking away the soil and rubble that's underneath it where the high raised beds were. I was surprised OH said maybe we should keep the greenhouse, as he's been keen to get rid of it before, even if it was to get a smaller one instead. We don't need to decide yet though.....one step at a time!

Your windowsill looked so cheerful and uplifting Mel and the flowers looked lovely. I like Hares and there used to be lots of them on at least one of the 11 farms at the other end of the village where they are now rapidly building the 4,500 houses.

I think you need someone to assess whether your PC is worth trying to mend if it's going to carry on being troublesome Mel. They have become cheaper in the last few years and I need to swap mine as the second keyboard I have can be a bit of a nuisance and I still have to do some things on the old keyboard. It's deciding what to have though, as the man at Curry's said my current laptop is far better than I need. Then again he doesn't know how many photos and FH stuff I save. :-S

I was also still awake with pain at 2.00am. We could have had a chat! I slept well once I went to sleep though and lay in for a while this morning.

I hope the new knitting book is better Mandy. Is it some more lovely dressed animals similar to what you have been making?

I hope you are feeling better today Vera and it's good your OH is back walking again.

It's good your scars are healing well AnnG. It must be more comfortable now and easier to wash your hair.

OH is back early and says it's too windy for the game so I'd better get a COT now.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 12 Apr 2026 10:18

You and me both Mandy, I think I was awake around 2 as well. Still we will work through it I am sure. Hope it doesn't rain on your washing.

My scars are healing well, sterri strips had to be taken off in the end when the stitches were taken out, but no problems so far and they are only sore if I knock them.

Vera, hope you had a better night, sounds as if your OH is full of beans if he was out for a walk.

Mel you really could do with having your PC looked at as you have so many problems.

MillymollyAmanda Report 12 Apr 2026 09:36

Morning all,

Bright and breezy here this morning ,I have Max's bedding in the wash so it should soon dry on the line with the wind .

Vera hope your feeling a little better after feeling so tired .

Anng hope your scars are healing nicely now and are less sore , have the steri strips come off yet.

I expect Ann was busy yesterday especially if OH had gone to a football match :-)

Mel hope you've got all your bookmarks sorted now , any sign of Robin babies.

Gwyn hope you've managed to ticked a few things off your to do list ,trouble is as fast as you tick them off there's more to add on the bottom .

I had a terrible night ,I was still awake at 2 o'clock, I had the fidgets in my knees and lost count how many times I got out to walk round , I think I finally dropped off about half two , so now I feel washed out .

AnninGlos Report 12 Apr 2026 08:26

Good morning all 8 degrees and sunny here. The wind yesterday was horrific and it was still blowing a gale when I went to bed. However, I could no longer hear it when I had removed my hearing aids.
Packing today so had better get dressed and get organised. Just realised I am feeling cold.

There are four hares on the windowsill three are on there all year until Christmas when I dress it for then.

We have had hares over the back field in years gone by but Iv'e not seen them now for about 5 years. I once took pics of them with their kits out in the back field but they are terrible time wasters.

Still trying to get all my bookmarks back in the pc now, its taking me ages but think I have done the main ones like online shopping, bank and ebay.

Better get on now I have a couple of things to relist on Ebay and I need to get more stuff on there too.

AnninGlos Report 11 Apr 2026 15:45

I am ok had a spasmodic sleep, in the I did wake up several times for loo or leg but still managed quite a bit of leep until 0815. since then been chasing my tail sorting stuff out for packing. so many bits and peces and the older I get it seems the worse it is. Son's house is not as convenient dor me as daughters as my room is small (mostly taken up by the double bed), and there is no en suite. However, with grandson being away I will have the main bathroom to myself because Granddaughter's room and the main bedroom are both ensuite.

I did forget to say how springlike your windowsill is Mel and I too like the hare. I had not realised that hares were not indiginous to UK but brought here during the iron age. However, in my book they makes them pretty permanent. They are of course naturalised. I love them years since I have seen one though.

SuffolkVera Report 11 Apr 2026 15:29

Thank you AnnG for sending Mel’s pictures on to us. Mel, your window sill looks great for spring. I particularly like the hare and the flowers are lovely.

Oh dear Mel, you do seem to have a lot of problems with your computer. It must be very frustrating. Would it be worth you paying out and getting a computer person to come in and check out that everything is correctly set up? It could just be some minor adjustment needed.

I hope everyone is OK today. I’m not feeling so good, probably just overtired, so I am not staying online but hope to be back tomorrow.

HERE i AM AT LAST. tHANKS FOR SENDING MY PICTURES ON.

Good morning girls,

Iv'e had a hell of a morning could'nt get on anything and the pc was saying do this do that and nothing was working. Could'nt send emails or read any and then these boxes kept coming up I did'nt understand. So I rang BIL and desturbed him trying take pics of the woodpecker and my call frightened it away so he was'nt happy with me.

He got on here and started to do something and then he got me back on Firefox so that was good but the bad thing is I now have to put ALL my bookmarks back in as there was non in there when I looked. Iv'e done this one and my online bankingso now I shall have to spend the rest of the day putting them all back in and I had a lot.

Had cronic indigestion last night again and took this awful gaviscon which dos'nt seem to work on me. I did sleep ok but was up three time in the night for the bathroom as I was so thirsty last night and had'nt had much to eat so tonight I am not going to drink anything after 9pm and see if that works. I shall have to have a proper meal too.

Its nice and sunny now but was'nt earlier and while BIL wa\s here we had a short sharp hailstone bout. Its 9 degrees sunny with a very cold wind.

Had a phone call this morning from one of my neighbours who lives in oh old house out the front and they are having the big ash tree down and some comes over my top field so I said its ok if they come over my side if they to.

I have to get up the shop for the paper and then tackle my bookmarks on the pc so I may not be back later but I shall read your posts. Hope you are all having a better day than I am.

Thanks once again Anng for passing my pics on to everyone. :-D

Good morning all, 7 degrees here now, very windy and there was drizzle ealier, it is sort of grey with patchy sun. The wind has a chill in it. I have been down the garden planting sunflower seeds and I was quite cold.

Vera you asked if I knew Rob well. He and his family were there when we moved in 34 years ago. In all that time I have onle ever got a grudging grunt good morning/hello when face to face with him. He was not at all a friendly person. when we moved here there were three teenagers in the house, very loud and rough, two boys and a girl, all married with families now. Ann, his wife is very very quietly spoken (I have trouble listening to her, she also talks very fast). She is very pleasanr and does chat. She, poor lady has MS and also is lately diagnosed with breast cancer. I would guess he and she are late 70s.It is very sad for her. She does drive or did, not seen her driving since they had a new large car. He was a very keen gardener, grew lots of veg etc, has a greenhouse. Not sure how she will cope with that. Life is very cruel sometimes, she had more than enough to cope with before.

Anyway, I have got to get some stuff sorted for packing. Have done a towel wash as well.

Thank you AnnG for forwarding the photos.

Lovely Easter / Spring display there Mel and your flowers look really pretty and sturdy too.

11 degrees and a bit cloudy, but no rain here yet.

A few jobs to do, but I'm gradually ticking a few more off from my 'To do this weekend' list.

SuffolkVera Report 10 Apr 2026 21:40

It's been sunshine and clouds today but it has stayed dry and, although it has been cooler than yesterday, it's not been really cold.

You're right about all the spring blossom and the trees starting to look green again Gwyn. It does lift the spirits. I feel for your daughter if she was affected by oil seed rape, as my son was too. I used to dread April/May as he was miserable and every other day came home from school with his shirt covered in blood where he'd had a nosebleed. I was told that hay fever is allied to migraine and son was diagnosed with migraine at the age of 5.

It sounds as though you may have overdone it a bit when you put your greenhouse up Mandy so I hope you have been taking it easy today.

AnnG, it might turn out to be handy having some extra meds if there are any shortages. I was pleased when a mistake was made with mine a while ago and I managed to build up a little stash as spares. There's just one tab that I have no spares for now. It's sad that you've had another death in your street. Did you know him well? Oh, you brought back some memories with your mention of lardy cake. I haven't had any since I was a teenager but I used to love it.

You sound as though you have been busy over the last couple of days Annx. I am very familiar with the "I can't find it so you must have moved it" attitude. I came across our moisture meter by chance today. I always put it back in its box to protect the sensitive tip but there was no sign of the box and the meter was laying across some tools hanging on the side of a cupboard in an obscure corner. OH was sure he wouldn't have put it in such a silly place and I'm equally sure I didn't so I guess the naughty elf is to blame again.

I've probably said before that we have 2 en-suites with showers, basins, WCs etc plus a family bathroom and a downstairs loo. Normally I'll clean the downstairs 2 one day and the upstairs 2 another day but this morning I decided to tackle all 4. I did give them a pretty thorough going over but by the time I had cleaned them all I was exhausted. This afternoon OH decided to do a job in the bathroom that I've been asking him to do for weeks. Why couldn't he have mentioned he was planning to do it before I cleaned the bathroom? Now it needs cleaning again! Sometimes I despair of him though really I am grateful that he is still around and able to do these jobs for me. I did manage to do a little bit in the garden this afternoon and don't ache too badly.

I hope your leg doesn't give you any pain tonight AnnG and you can get more rest. Indeed, I wish you all a good night, me included. I'm getting fed up with only sleeping for about 4 hours and that split into 2 sessions. I am functioning still so presumably I am getting enough shut-eye but it would be nice to sleep through the night occasionally.
