Good morning Grey and murky but not as foggy as last week. At the moment it’s 5 degrees but I haven’t put my nose outside yet to see what it really feels like.
Mandy I might have misunderstood which recipe you wanted. I probably said I had been making lemon cheesecake but mentioned that I used to make an apricot one though I haven’t made it for years. I’ll look through all my recipe folders when I get a moment and dig the apricot one out for you.
I have read the posts but won’t be staying on here any longer as I am still not sleeping much and my head and eyes are not good at the moment. We are going to our usual Thursday coffee meet and then daughter and granddaughter are coming at 2 pm for a couple of hours.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning, Very foggy here but no frost don't think it should clear all day so another dull dark day. Not sure what I'm doing today the two bathrooms need a good clean and I might make a cake .
Gwyn no luck with the mincemeat in Aldi ,not one jar left so you got a bargain .

Frosty again but at least its dry and its 3 degrees and pc says mostly cloudy.
Today is the day when they are going to turn the leccy off at some point to do the new poles and lines etc so I hope its not off for long with my two ponds on a very cold day.
I also have my MOT today at the docs so must get on.

Yes its quite rightening really when you know what they were really about.
Stu rang while I was washing my hair over the bath and said to come to his for dinner so off I went. He did a chilli and rice and it was very nice.
Watched the film on Film 4 about the life of the cat artists Louis Wain and it was very good but also very sad.

I went to the U3A main meeting as my friend was going and offered to give me a lift.. The talk was on the real meaning of nursery rhymes. It was interesting and none of them are how they seem.

Done some washing and its been out on the line since this morning but dos'nt seem any drier than when it went out so I shall bring it in and it will have to go on the airers but should smell nice with a bit of cold air through it. Ita still bitterly cold out there even though the suns out but its so low in the sky this time of year.
Dusted the bedroom and cleaned the little loo. Had lunch and I am just going to go and corn the chickens. We've had sun all day blue sky and no clouds but the heavy mist this morning did'nt lift till about 10.05 am when the sun eventually burnt it off.
Can't get in touch with St. Hope he's ok......
Going to wash my hair after corning the chickens as I have my bloods tomorrow morning.

Afternoon all,
Misty here and it doesn't look like it's going to clear over the next few days ,I'm sure at the weekend the weather was sunny for today . I've had a good morning giving the bedrooms a good hoover and dust ,I haven't done it since before Christmas so it badly needed doing, I hoovered the stairs and then Colin hoovered downstairs so we're nice and clean now.
Vera thank you for the recipe ,I could have sworn you said it was Apricot cheesecake ,this one was Lemon but it sounds lovely so I'll be giving that a go when I can get a lemon jelly .

Morning all,
Woke to frost and fog this morning and its still foggy a bit now but the suns coming up. Its 7 degrees at the moment but is very chilly and pc says its rising to 9 degrees by 12 noon.
Had a reminder by phone this morning that the leccy will be going off tomorow for a while as they are working on the lines. They've put a new telegraph pole outside so I suppose its something to do with that and I have a big leccy box on my front on a pole.
Need to ring Stuart to see if he's coming this week and it could be today so I better get on and get dressed as I am not yet.

Good morning all 8 degrees here still a bit dark though.
I had just written a long reply when my computer decided to go down for some reason. Actually when it came back up it was firefox pdating. I did copy what I had written but had not had time to paste it into word so lost it when the pc came back on.
Mandy I wish I still had a 7 in front of my age. I loved my 70s we had lots of good holidays, months in Tenerife and weeks in Spain and Lanzarote plus weeks in the UK. Life seemed to be one long holiday then.
I didn't have a washing machine until I had been married over ten years, I just had a baby burco and a spin drier. I have to add that for the first 8 years of marriage all bed linen and T's white RN shirts and collars went to the laundry (collected and delivered). and for a couple of years if the weather was bad, all the rest went to the local laundrette.
I didn't cook before I was married. My first cookery book was a small A5 Mcdougalls book which I still have stuck together with cellotape.I also had an exercise book with lots of recipes collected from Mum and added to through the years by friends

I had the Dairy Book of Cookery when I was first married and yes I still have it. I also had the Dairy Book of Home Managment. I was really into cooking with a young baby and at home all the time. No pc or mobile phone to take my mind off things but just get on with it. I cooked a cake for Sunday every week and most meals were cooked from scratch with just a few frozen fish cakes or rissoles. I loved making pies fruit and meat ones and always a Sunday roast. I had a bit of trouble at first with the roast and always worried about getting everything done at the same time. After the Sunday roast it was always cold meat and chips on a Monday same as mum used to od. Washing day was Monday which was done in a twin tub washing machine and spinner. Had those big wooden tongs to get it from one tub to the next with a hooked pipe that went into the sink. In fact I did'nt have a washing machine until the mid 70's and I can remember watching it go the full round the first time I used it. It seemed so easy to just let the machine do it for me and I could get on with other things.

Just watching the next pottery programme.
Ann that good if OH's eyes are less pink already ,sounds as if he caught them before it was really bad , oh that good you don't have to dothe drops through the night I had visions of alarms going off every hour :-0
I've got a Mrs Beeton cook book too ,I just learnt as I went along ,it was gravy that puzzled me I use to ask mum well how do I make the gravy ,she use to say well you need a bit of this and I put that in and her gravy was lovely I could never make gravy like her .
I like Jamie Oliver he's been making his £1 wonder meals some of them look really tasty ,he made some nice looking rustic pies with pork mince and he added piccalilli to the pork they did look nice with a bit of grated cheese on top .
Son and dil always cook they don't have takeaways very often ,son say we make ur own fake aways, they make curries, sweet and sour chicken ,egg fried rice , pizzas ,lots of things , some times they treat themselves to steak if it's on offer at the butchers and Jake gets his discount

I’m feeling a bit better now thank you. I’ll type a bit then come off screen till tomorrow.
Annx, I think iritis is rare. I’ve never come across anyone else who has had it but I’ve always said our OHs could be twins. Yes, I read about all that food being thrown away because the younger generation won’t take it. I never did any domestic science at school but mum and grandmother both cooked and I think I just absorbed a lot without knowing it. I also bought a cookbook when we first married. It was Molly Weir’s cookbook and cost 5/-. I’ve still got it, held together with parcel tape.
I am sure your hair looks good now AnnG and I’m glad your legs stopped aching. We’re probably all a bit out of practice even with gentle walking as we haven’t been moving around as much in the horrid weather.
Mandy, I wish I still had a 7 in front of my age. You know what they say : you’re as old as you feel.
Mel, sunset here today was 4.15 pm and sunrise tomorrow will be 7.58 am.
My head.and eyes are telling me that’s enough. Sleep well everyone.

They made some lovely things in the first week of the pottery prog didn't they Mandy. I remember when I was 70 I told OH I was going to go backwards in future and be 69 next! I don't think we need to do the drops through the night. I can't remember doing it last time so it will just be last thing at night and first thing in the morning and an hour between each drop during the day. I think his eye already looks less pink.
I read today that food banks are having to throw the fresh veg away. Apparently the young don't want it as they don't know how to cook it! They aren't in desperate need are they if they can't look up what to do on their phones. It sounds like they are too lazy and just want to microwave or heat up things that are already cooked. I couldonly cook simple things with any confidence when I got married and didn't do domestic science after the first year at senior school. We we sewed our aprons and headbands and made a skirt in that year so didn't do very much cooking. I got Mrs Beeton's Cook Book with my pink stamps and learned from that. Now it's even easier with the internet and the videos ahowing things step by step.

Evening all,
It's been quire a dreary day here no sun today to cheer us up.
Vera sorry to read you have another migraine they must make you feel miserable I hope it soon eases for you and you feel better.
Ann that wasn't to bad for OH at the hospital they soon saw him and it sounds as though they are really doing the proper checks this time and I hope the drops give him some relief ,poor chaps really going through with one thing and another ,its going to fun and games having to do the drops every hour through the night .
I recorded the pottery throw for down this Sunday but we have seen the first one ,not sure if Mels seen it so won't say to much but I loved the first makes ,that chap can't remember his name did some lovely art work on his things .
Anng I was going to ask you the other day how your legs are but I see they didn't like your walk very much ,at least the aching eased when you got home . You had a milder day to for getting your hair cut ,I always feel chilly round the neck k after a cut. I think I've made a mistake on our next hair appointment, I usually count six or seven weeks between but when I looked on the calendar it's down for a date in February way over the seven weeks, but there if we'd had an appointment I would have had to cancel it anyway with Colin not well and then me .
Mel what a difference in the sunset times as here when I looked it up it was 11 minutes past four ,much later down your way .
We went shopping today and we used Colins card in the atm to get some money and it worked fine so I definitely need a new card ,I will get son to order me a new one , I also need him to do my driving licence as I have to have a photo licence in February when I'm 70 ,70!!!!!!! I want to go the other way I don't want a seven in the front of my age number :-(

OH was home within 3 hours which was good. He said the doctor even had print outs of 2 of his previous visits with the same condition in front of him so that was efficient. He has 2 lots of drops and one is hourly for 2 days, then gradually less. He has to go back in a fortnight. We then called at our surgery on the way home and he's rebooked his physio visit, then we collected the rest of my scripts and called at the shop. He's not going to his meeting tonight but will write up someone else's notes for them instead.
Vera it's interesting to hear your OH had it too as it's considered rare! OH first had it in the 80s before I met him. I think the tests are to look for infection and inflammation elsewhere in the body, but brucellosis is an interesting one. As for the blood tests he did say they seemed to want an armful! I'm sorry you've had another migraine and hope your eyes soon clear properly.
I agree AnnG and hope we get some answers too. I think it delays diagnosis at times with GPs only dealing with 1 problem in an appointment. Sometimes another problem and symptoms can also cause the one you are seeing the doctor about! I think Covid was blamed for everything to do with poor service and that standard has become the norm now.
I don't mind the small Warburton's Wholememal loaf Mel. I have to break any bread for the birds quite small otherwise the Magpies and Pigeons carry it all off in no time.
Did you and Mandy see the last pottery throwdown? I won't say anything in case you've recorded it, but I thought James should have won this time! They are making some interesting things in this series.
I'm finding it hard to get into dancing on ice this time. Maybe it will get better.

Poor you Vera another migraine to spoil your day. I hope you feel more like yourself soon. Sending love and wishes. <3 <3
I have made chocolate brownies this morning and cleaned all the cooker top and it did'nt half need doing. Its in the dark corner of the kitchen and its one of those things I forget to do. It was so bad I could'nt see the white ring where the element is but I can see it now!!!! The big double ring is the next to be done but I have arm ache now so will leave that till another day.
Its 10 degrees here too now and nice and sunny blue sky but lots of thin clouds. sunset is 4.37pm I'm going to see what it is tomorrow as its certainly lighter for long down here.
