Jake and his Dad have been and fixed the electrics to the water feature so I can reach the on/off switch without having to crawl over and behind pota. They also gave the shrubs that needed it a good trim and dug out the dying rosemsry tree so the garden is looking tidy again now. They only charged me for the shrub strimming etc not the electrics which they have now put on a breaker.

I have done a bit more weeding where the Rosemary bush was, and also cut back a rampant clematis that was strangling a rose. and then found a piece of trellis that I needed to tie back that had obviously gor blown out of line by the wind.

good morning all. 12 degrees already. I didn't finally wake until 0815, late for me and Jake is coming today, although I don't have any idea what time. I got dressed quickly, 'just in case' Of course he will be later today but I couldn't risk it. Still I am up now

Been painting mini wooden buckets with rope handles. 18 degrees here now and there is still blue sky but it all a bit covered in white whispy cloud that you can see through.

AnninGlos Report 26 Apr 2026 14:20

I have sort of tied in the clematis but it is all tangled up so I am going to leave it now to see if it can sort itself out a bit. I think that is me done out there as Tesco is due 3-4 although checking it looks as though they are running a bit late.

Nice to get a bit of rhubarb Anng bit of custard and a lovely sweet.

Suns still out here and its 15 degrees and pc still telling me rain to stop soon.

I am now going in the garden after taking my pill.

17 now and hazy sun, very light cloud over it.

Just done an hour in the garden, it is beginning to loo as though it has had attention now. I have staked the peonie. Do it every year. five stakes and linking clips to go between them to try and contain it inside from flopping. It will be fine until rain undoes all the goos.
I have also cut off a lot of big Helebore leaves and pulled out loads moe sticky willy and other weeds. also three nasty brambles. the result of the big blackberry I cut down in 2022. Brown bin is a third full now. Should have a go out the front but I think the next job is to tie in a clematis which is out of control.

I have also picked some rhubarb. I don't get a lot but it is enough for me.

7 degrees here , there's a bit of thin cloud but the suns peeping through ,no frost this morning .
I've just put a towel wash in so will hang them out later but I think we both need a quieter day so nothing much planned for the rest of the day ,just sitting with our first cup of tea watching the London marathon.

20 degrees was a bit hot for gardening but I did manage a bit. When Jake comes. On Monday he is going to cut down a Rosemary that is dying. I spent a while cutting some is the branches out to give him easier access to it. I also piled some ‘sticky Willy’ out. I checked the rhubarb and there is enough to pick tomorrow. I watered all the pots at 6 pm that took a while. As I was going round the garden I was noting jobs for tomorrow.

Annx Report 25 Apr 2026 18:47

Afternoon All,

Phew the PC says it's still 20 degrees here now and it's hot outside. I went to the shop early this morning and a different idiot had parked at the end of our close again so I had to wait on the right hand side to exit the close where I was hidden by the tall hedge. If anyone whizzes into the close from the right hand side as you drive to the end there will be a head on crash.

Just after the senior school up the road finished for the day yesterday, OH noticed a couple of young girls that weren't together when he went on his walk. They were a good distance from each other and him and it looked like they had gone along the old Fosse Way just down from the school and then turned right to go across the field where OH goes which then leads to the new estate. It would be a short cut if they lived there. How stupid walking along the old Fosse though as you can't be seen at all due to it being a thicket each side that forms a tunnel overhead with neither the motorway nor field visible each side of it. It is very little used and I certainly have never been down it on my own. The Black Pad footpath and Green Lane footpath where Colin Pitchfork murdered those two girls is only a quarter of a mile away. No-one would hear them scream and I'm worried that they do it when it's dark earlier as well. I might email the school so they are aware and could warn the pupils.

I only spent about quarter of an hour in the garden and cleared the tangled weeds from half the bean tub and picked up the fallen Camellia flowers. I've had two more spam calls and a chap at the door collecting for Battersea Dogs Home. I told him nicely that I don't donate at the door, but do give to animal charities anyway.

I didn't know the Swallows were back Mel and that they built a second nest because of the Wrens last year, Hopefully they won't take a liking to the newer Swallows nest.

Glad you slept well last night AnnG. I did too. It's a shame about your geraniums but they might pick up. I lost all of mine I left in the greenhouse last winter so will need to start afresh this year.

Mandy I hope you enjoy The Chapel prog and am sure you will. Keith and Marj are good together aren't they. I've watched all the new ones up to now and enjoyed them. Somehow all they do ends up looking right, when you think it wouldn't. That's good Jake has saved up and got himself another car. He looked quite tall from the photo you last sent so it will probably be a bit more roomy for him. Yes we are off to Timsons on Monday hopefully. I don't like the booths either.

Better finish off the food order for tomorrow now.

Thanks for letting us know so we don't worry about you Vera.

Anng gerainiums are really quite hardy and they should pick up ok.

I have sowed more seed in the shed this morning then had lunch after racing to the shop and made it in time to get the paper and some ham and I treated myself to a Strawberry cheesecake. Bet I don't like it but hope its ok. Its a frozen one and I like the Asda slices you can get which are really nice.

I too have felt lethargic this afternoon and not done much after lunch and a look at the telly. Its so hot out and I am not used to it. Its still 18 degrees here now.

Good afternoon all

Yesterday was hectic and I wasn’t free to post until 10 pm when I was too tired. At the moment I am very busy so don’t have time for a longer post today and will be busy for the next couple of days as well. If you don’t hear from me for a day or two I am OK, just busy. Will be back with a long post soon. In the meantime enjoy the good weather and don’t overdo the gardening in the heat.

It is 17 degrees here now, feels warmer because we are not used to it. I am sure there is plenty I could be doing out in the garden but I am too lethargic to do it. I slept well last night so not tired just can't be bothered. :-D

12 degrees here now and clear sky and sunny. I have stripped the bed and washed the bedding. will re=make the bed later. I have also emptied the dishwasher and washed up some bits not in the washer. and I have washed the tiles on the window shelf in the conservatory where I overwinter plants. I have put the geraniums out as, stupidly I forgot on Thursday. these plants have flowered beautifullt all winter but the last lot of flowers may have been their 'swan song'. It was hot Thursday afternoon and I couldn't leave the conservatory door open as that was the day the inner door wouldn't lock. the geraniums all looked very poorly. I am not sure they will ever recover now. I am leaving them outside

Iv'e not seen the new Chapel programs either I keep forgetting about them. In fact I hav'nt seen the last ones of the Pottery progams.

I have just watered the patio plants and do you remember I told you that in the iron trough a whole bunch of seeds came up that I did'nt recognise? Well today I have and they are a whole forest of Box seedlings. Now am I going to find enough pots to pot them all or do I transfer them to a seed tray??? I'll take a pic and send it to you.
