Good morning all. bright and dry here.
Echoing what Mandy said Mel. It would be foolish to drive it havine failed its MOT and being rusty it is possible dangerous. And do you really want it sitting a heap of rust on your land? Just ask Stu to empty the boot and bring the stuff to you, don't risk your or his lives.

Morning girls,

Brightish morning here but cloudy and its 16 degrees and pc still says 6 rainy ahead starting today.

Still feels strange without my car here. If I could have found someone at Stu's yesterday when we went round there I would have asked if I could take it home. I stillhave two sacks of potting compost and a bag of potting grit in the boot plus other things inside the car like a big umbrella and a small wicker raised bed etc.
If its home I can at least drive it up the top to put the recyclinng bin out as I don't have to drive on the raod for that and put the dustbin out.

Good morning all, bright and sunny no rain and 14 degrees. Slept well but leg is still painful and hurts most when weight bearing. I am wondering if I twisted awkwardly getting out of friends car on Wednesday as it was only stiff before, not so painful. I will continue with the ibrofen gell.

Just had a group of photos on my memories on facebook of 5 years ago. All photos at daughters celebrating my 80th and our 65th. Bitter sweet. T was obviously not as well as he had been but was fit enough to walk at St Bees. And it eas a glorious sunny day there too.

Just had a walk up the garden to give Beccy three courgetes a cue and some runners and picked some cooking apples and gave some to Janine and Beccy. Walked back down the road and Janine had given me back my little trug so I stopped at the Damson trees and picked a trug full of those. Walking back and having a look at myd disgusting border and who should be in front of me on slug patrol but a lovely big hedgehog.

It rained hard all morning but then stopped and the sun has been out for the last hour or more. Daughter arrived soon after 11.30 and stayed until 4.30. She had to leave then as she needed to be back to close the local park gates at 6 pm and it can take a while to get through Friday traffic. We had a nice lunch and a lovely afternoon just chatting about everything under the sun. It was so nice to have her to ourselves for once. She came with a lovely bag of veg for me. She grows some herself but also has a weekly veg box delivered. Now there is just her at home she often has more than she needs so Mum gets the surplus. In exchange we sent her home with a nice grass dug up from our garden and a large box of niger seeds which our birds don't eat.

I know I should be getting on with the ironing that's still hanging around but I am not in the mood to start jobs now. I really must get my act together tomorrow and get it done with a bit of h/w as well.

It must have been a trick thin with Amazon as I don't buy a lot on there now and if there is something I want I look on Ebay too.

BIL is mowing. He brought me a super duper new pair of chinese secatares like he had bought himself. They are really good and quite expensive. He also brought me two chicken and veg soups from the co-op and I had one for lunch and gosh they are very filling. There would be enough for two people really but once I had cooked it in the micro I had to at eat. Full to the gunnels now and I had a nice new rolls with it.

Must remember to get him to take a look at Amazon and get this sub off as 8.99 a month is too much for me for something I hardly use now.

Hope the weathers nice tomorrow Vera so you can get the rest of the fence painted then you'll be all set for next year.

Annxhave you tried boiling a kettle and pouring it on your nasty weeds? I have to do that around the fish pond as I can't spray anything new the ponds and I get ferns growoing between the wood and even have orchid between the patio wall and the decking round the big pond with that awful walt plant growing in there too and that spreads like anything with white underground root runners.

Afternoon All,

After a dark and cloudy start with a few minutes of that fine drizzle it's been sunny since. I went to the garden centre first thing and had poached eggs and a coffee then bought some cards and a ball of wool. One card is for a 100 year old. He's a Naval veteran from WW2 with no family left and the Royal Naval Association Club have asked people if they would send him a birthday card, so that's for him. I had to get home fairly swiftly as I was expecting a delivery and OH was out at a meeting, so didn't look around much.

AnnG it's hand to know the original photo remains and I will try it myself to see if mine is the same.

It's a good idea to take a photo or do a grid with the colour sequence of the squares Mandy. I think we are due more rain here tomorrow. I hope you manage to get a crab tomorrow. I always think of Frank when you mention crab and wonder how he is doing now.

Vera, the knee recovered quicker than I expected considering how much it hurt when I did it. I'm being careful with it though. Your fences that are done must be looking good now, but it's a shame the rain has come before they are finished.

Mel what lovely wildlife you wake up to see! I always find when you want to stop an action online or change your mind about something it isn't easy to find the way to do it! I hate Amazon and PRIME for that. They almost trick you into signing up if you aren't careful as well.

We haven't had lunch yet so I'd better start it.

Just about half an inch of water in the bucket I left out so that will be from the shower we had before I got up, otherwise we have had no rain. I am envious of your rain Vera.

No sign of BIL yet hope he's ok.

Morning girls,

Woke at 6.15 for the loo and went back to bed and dropped off again till 9.30am so you could say I had a good sleep.

Its 15 degrees and to expect 6 rainy days later. The sun is out at the mo and the skies are blue with big white clouds.

When I came out to the kitchen this morning to turn the kettle on there was a siskin otside the back door eyeing up the box of mealworms and then as I came and sat down at the pc there is a lovely stag lying in the sun up at the top wall. Yesterday morning I saw a doe and her fawn outside the bedroom window going along the edge by the chickens run. I did'nt take a pic of those just watched and enjoyed them.

BIL should come today and fit the new UV tubes in the big pond filter system he did say about getting osme new seals too so I hope he's not forgotten.

Morning all,

16 degrees and its just started raining ,we were going to walk up and get our tablets and a crab as its market day but rains stopped play and we should have rain all day getting heavier later ,tomorrow should be a drier day so we'll just swap days .

This morning I want to lay all my squares out on the bed as they are all done and see what goes where ,I think I'll take a photo so I can look back ,i might draw a grid with the colour of the square in ,it will help with the making up of it .
Yesterday i bought three of the colours ready for Laceys blanket ,just need to find another shade of pink .

Good morning all

No fence painting today; it’s been rained off. I’m pleased to see the rain as the garden needs it but I wish it could have waited another day or two till my fence is finished.

Have a good day whatever the weather where you are.

ann whether I remember this the next time I do it. when I resized mine, the original stayed in my pictures and the changed one was saved elsewhere (and it told me where it was saved. But that may be to do with my Libra instead of microsoft.

It doesn't seem to be cooling down much at all tonight and it's very muggy. We've only had a couple of very light showers today but there is more rain promised for tomorrow. I think our fence painter was hoping to finish tomorrow but I don't think that's going to happen. He's done the fence all up one side of the house and has also done all along the back of the garden but still has to come all the way down the other, longer side.

You're right about prices shooting up again Mandy. I did a bit of shopping in Sainsbury today and I couldn't believe some of the prices. A small, crusty wholemeal loaf that not long ago was 80p and then went up to £1 was £1.30 today. If prices rise much more we'll all be reduced to eating gruel.

Trying to retract your bid on Ebay sounds a bit of a performance Mel. Everything seems to get some complicated now. OH has spent half the day on the phone to BT trying to sort out why our answering machine isn't working properly. It seems to have been something they have done that caused the BT answering system to override our own one. We have ours back now but the only way they could reinstate it was to set it to ring 10 times before the answerphone clicks in. If it rings that many times callers will assume we don't have an answer machine and will ring off before leaving a message. None of this makes sense to me asnd seems unnecessarily complicated. Goodness only knows what will happen when they eveentually put us on the digital system.

Annx, I hope your knee isn't giving you too much trouble after twisting it getting in your shower. What a lot of old crocks we are. My back is much better, just a bit achy, but I haven't tried doing any gardening yet. I've got a good excuse at the moment as I don't want to get in the painter's way ;-) I don't think I can cope with driverless cars - I'll be a nervous wreck. I'll be shouting to the non-existent driver to slow down and watch that bike! I wonder how a driverless car would react to a situation I was in today. Our little cul-de-sac turns out of a very narrow road that leads to the community centre. I turned into this narrow road and there was an ambulance parked near the end of our cul-de-sac but I could get round it to turn in, except as I went to turn I could then see the postman had backed in to our cul-de-sac, blocking the entrance,, and gone off on foot to deliver his letters. I couldn't go anywhere so had to sit there to wait for him to come back, hoping the ambulance wouldn't need to move. Then a car came down the narrow road to get to the community centre. The road isn't wide enough for him to pass so I had to drive down to the community centre, go round the car park there and back up the road. By this time the postman was back and driving away so I could get up to our house. How would the AI in a driverless car be programmed to know what to do in that situation? It makes you think, doesn't it?

Daughter texted a short while ago to say she'll drive up to see us tomorrow if we are going to be in. It will be nice to see her, she's usually good company. I must go and check out the freezer and see what I can give her for lunch. I've got plenty of salad stuff and I think I've got a couple of veggie quiches and some sausage rolls in the freezer still but need to make sure that we haven't already eaten the quiches.

The weather seems to be getting heavier and heavier and I see we now have a yellow warning of rain. It would be good if we had plenty of rain overnight to give the garden a good soaking and then it dries up so the painter can get on and finish.

Mandy, I'm getting muddled with which of the children asked first for the blankets made of the squares. Yes Chelsea might want one when she sees the other two. I can't believe she is nearly 18. Does she have any idea what kind of work she fancies? I had no real idea at her age except jobs my parents shook their heads at.

I just looked and this is what Gov.UK says.

Self-driving vehicles set to be on roads by 2026 as Automated Vehicles Act becomes law.

People will be wary of getting them to start with and goodness knows what they will cost at first. Will the car earn the no claims bonus? Imagine the traffic on the roads if everyone who can't drive could have one as well. China already has battery hubs where electric cars are remotely reversed and lifted while a robot swaps a battery that needs charging for one that's fully charged and you drive away after 5 minutes. The world is changing in ways we never imagined years ago.

Oh yes you certainly have sussed it AnnG so thank you for saying. I've now found that resize option as you describe on mine too and hadn't noticed before. I just need to remember to do a copy of a photo to resize so I still have the original. Your photos are lovely and isn't the meadow colourful and pretty.

Mel I have spent an afternoon sorting something out too, To do with maturing savings I wanted save part to another place. They cocked it up by doing things in the wrong order so it was rejected and will lose me a bit of interest. I've had to write a long letter, fill forms in and put a message on a website so they know what to do now. It took me ages to explain to a helpful young man on the phone, but he finally got it and has had to do some adjustments to allow it to work if I do it again now. It all takes time out of the day though.

I'm late for bed now and need to be up early tomorrow to go to the garden centre for another ball of wool and I might have poached eggs on toast while I'm there. OH has a meeting at the coffee place on the land that was the Hospital's near that old Chapel and my hairdresser.

It has taken me hours to get this bid Iput up retracted. In the end I spoke to a lady and she guided me through it. I was just going around in circles on the Ebay site . Ebay told me to get in touch with the seller but she just did'nt want to know. I told her I had'nt seen that the item was Buyer collects and with no car now I wanted to retract the bid and she told me I had to do it my end. She also said the listing was just the same and if I win to get a courier to collect the parcel.

I have done the bed washing plus a lot more pillowcases and turned a drawer out and chucked a lot of old pillow cases I shall give them toBIL for rags. Managed to change the bed. It seems to get harder each time I do it and I think Em may be away as I hav'nt heard the boys and their football out in the garden. Em will always come and give me a hand with the quilt cover and dit takes no time at all with twoo of you.

I think I have sussed it Ann I will try sending a couple later. It is within the editing programme I (and I think you) already use. along the top left where it says edit there are 5 small icons then three dots. Click on the dots and it gives a re-size option.
