AnninGlos Report 28 Oct 2025 07:44

Good morning all, a nice bright morning 9 degrees at 7.30am. I have been up since 0615. The antibs have to be taken at roughly 6-8 hour intervals over 24. So daughter and I worked out something like 0615am, 1200, 5.30. 1045 So that allows for a reasonable night's sleep. yes empty stomach to allow for absorbtion and taken with a full glass of water to protect the oesophogus.

Have lady coming this morning to see if she can scan the little stray cat inhabiting my garden most of the day, Also the plumber might come and replce the kitchen tap, so that will entail emptying that cupboard under the sink again. and being picked up around 1.45 to got out to a garden centre with my friend.

Annx Report 27 Oct 2025 19:51

The windowcleaner never turned up and we decided to try the new carvery at a garden centre taken over by the one we visit at Rutland at Christmas. We thought it would be quiet on a Monday with children back as school. Not So! The carpark and overflow carpark were almost full so we drove in and out as we didn't fancy queuing. We went to Morrisons instead and had their nice poached eggs on toast with a COT. We did a shop then and got some things Asda didn't bring and some quick meals for this week. We then called in the bathroom shop and I couldn't believe I spotted tiles I was pleased with almost straightawayr and then a toilet OH liked with a flat lid.. So it's been a successful day shoppingwise. I've also sorted a date with Dan for the gutters to be cleaned.

OH had an appointment with his GP this afternoon and he had the MRI scan results........a whole pageful. No wonder he gets pain poor chap, but those results will be discussed with the rheumatologist if he ever gets an appointment. The doc isn't concerned about the occasional dizziness, doesn't need to change his meds and thinks it could still be due to the aftermath of all that happened to him.

A parcel was supposed to be delivered before 5.00pm, then I got an email saying it would be by 7.35pm, but still no sign of it. I hope it doesn't arrive after I've gone to bed. :-S

I hope the antibiotics foon clear up the infection AnnG. I expect the unusual routine for them is to be sure that anything eaten isn't going to interfere with them being absorbed fully. I shouldn't drink coffee within a hour of taking my morning Thyroid tablets and shouldn't have calcium rich foods for 4 hours after and there are other foods that I have to allow time for like iron. Even fibre rich foods shouldn't be eaten for at least half an hour. Another good reason why I skip breakfast most of the time! Bananas shouldn't be eaten within 2 hours of having my beta blocker either due to the potassium in them.

That was a good trip for your car Mel and chance to get more used to it and filling it up. I wonder what library books you got out? I am just starting to read 'Entitled' about Prince Andrew which OH got when it came out. He's told me I will be amazed.

I see you didn't didn't get the garden jobs done either Mandy. I need to get more washing done too. I thought there wouldn't be much once I retired as well.

No Vera again. I hope she's just busy and is ok.

Sounds as if the change of doctor worked better for you Anng and I hope the antibiotics do the trick, she might get your appointment changed so you see someone a bit earlier .
Those antibiotics are a job to remember and when I had mine I would right on the box so I knew what time I had had them as its so easy to think did I take it .

Ann i haven't been good doing the weeding as I never got out there today by the time I got some other jobs done I didn't feel like going out and it had clouded up and looked more like rain ,oh well there's always tomorrow.

Do hope Vera's OK and hasn't got one of her bad migraines.

Just back from Holsworthy took my library books back and got some diesel.

these new antibiotics are strange with the way you have to take them Anng. Hope you get on ok with them and they do the trick.

AnninGlos Report 27 Oct 2025 14:42

Cynth was off to friends for a couple of nights after we got back from the Drs. My other friend, Pouise over the road took me to the chemist for the antibiotics which have to be taken 4 times a day either an hour before food or 2 hours after. That is going to take a bit of remembering

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Oct 2025 14:32

That worked pout well for you Anng and you were a bit worried about seeing that doc but it turned out good for you in the end. I hope she can manage to get your appointment earlier than the one you have.

Its clouded over here now and its rained a bit so no going in the garden for me today.

Morning All,

ISunny here too but it felt chilly outside. I was up early and showered and off to the Range for just after they opened as the traffic was quite bad with everyone back to work after half term now. Goodness me, as I walked in Christmas music started playing! (too early for me I'm afraid) and I noticed the staff have started wearing masks again. I couldn't see any pencil top curtains and none took my fancy anyway, but after fighting so many of them on and off the tall shelves, there were quite a few 4.5 tog double duvets mixed up with the others and so I got one with a cotton cover and 5 year guarantee. There were a few just 1 tog, but although there don't seem to be 3.5 tog ones like I am using stocked anywhere, I decided 1 tog was too cold for winter even for me! I also found some nice thick pale blue hand towels for the en suite and then noticed a craft and stationery area, Quite a good selection of wool, cottons, embroidery threads and loads of different notepads, pens etc. I got a 300 page reporters pad as I'm running out and the whole lot cost just over £26.

That turned out well then seeing such a nice doctor AnnG. She sounded really interested to get you sorted out. I wonder whether she will try and get your appointment brought forward as well.

It's likely to be the breathing in the live virus in the air as you say Mandy. I suppose the virus would be on the dog's nose and could transfer if someone touched it and then rubbed their own nose or mouth breathing in the virus that way. You are good catching up with the weeding. We are off to the bathroom shop again soon so I may not get in the garden today.

Gwyn I set two alarms in the bedroom if we have an appointment now as one failed to go off once. I set one a few minutes after the other so I don't jump out of my skin with twice the noise. I forgot to change the car clock while I was out earlier and thought I was late getting home till I realised!|

What a great result AnnG
I'm so pleased that you saw someone so helpful :-D
It makes such a difference, when somebody actually listens.

Well how refreshing to find a young enthusiastic, knowledgeable and empathetic female doctor. And so pretty too (although I know I shouldn't say that. She was interested in what has gone before, puzzled as to why the hospital appointment was so far in the future and worried that the one giving me trouble was a bit infected. she took my BP, temp and pulse and asked if I felt well. (obviously alert to possibility of sepsis.) Took more photos and borrowed the special instrument the other lady doctor who is so popular you can't get appointments with her, uses, to show her later. She will then text me with any comments. and she has sent a prescription through to the pharmacy for antibiotics. I must have been in ther 20 minutes. I am so pleased the other doctor was away for three weeks.

Morning all,

Lovely bright blustery morning here, blue sky and a few whispy white clouds but that could all change in an instant as pc is saying partly sunny and 12 degrees.

Hope the appointment went ok and you were not disappointed seeing another doc.

Not sure what I am doing today will just take the day as it comes I think.

MillymollyAmanda Report 27 Oct 2025 08:58

Morning all,

A bit of a dreary start then it started to brighten up but now it's very dull again ,I was hoping to hang washing out as there's a nice blow out but will see how it goes .

Anng hope your doctors appointment goes OK that's was an early appointment.

Ann , I took it that it was because the dogs sneezing puts it in the air but I might be wrong ,your right the kennels won't take a dog in if it hasn't had ths kennel cough.

We hope to get in the front garden and have a tidy up and there's weeds that need pulling up, I want to get to Roys sometime and get a few daff bulbs for the front ,there's a few that come up every year but they never flower so they've had there day I think .

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 27 Oct 2025 08:02

I hope your appointment goes well AnnG and you get some answers.

Daughter sets her phone alarm, but I think I have only set the alarm about a handful of times in my adult life and that would be for an unusually 'early hours' start in order to catch a plane or something. My body clock seems to wake me up at the same time each day, within about a 10 minute range.
I would hate to be woken by an alarm each morning.
Like you though, if I know I have to be up early on a normal day, I sometimes wake early in anticipation and then, because it's on my mind, I won't let myself go back to sleep for an extra hour or so, so might even put a wash load on or do something else until required 'morning' time comes round.

A sunny dry start to the day here. We are forecast a 'breezy and bright' day with no mention of rain, so we'll see what happens.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Oct 2025 06:35

good morning all. up at stupid o'clock this morning as I need to be out of the door at 0825 and I have to 'come round' and have breakfast first. At least, although still dark, it looks dry out there and is 8 degrees so warmer than yesterday morning. Slept from before 11pm until 4am then couldn't get back to sleep, no doubt as thinking that the alarm would not go off. (It did of course).

Grandson not son Ann. Son will be December. Not that I have bought theirs yet.
Yes hope Vera is Ok.

I have to be up early too as have. Drs appointment at 08&5. Not sure how that is going to go as I really wanted to chat to the Adriatic who referred me for the BCC treatment and he is on holiday for three weeks. This doctor only qualified the end of 2024 so not sure how much she knows about BCCs :-(

Annx

Annx Report 26 Oct 2025 20:04

That's interesting Mandy, so it's because it gets sneezed into the air by the dog.. I was thinking as well that if someone couldn't have their dog vaccinated kennels wouldn't accept it if they went on holiday without the dog.

Mel how are your new neighbours who went away while the work on their house was being done getting on with it now? I need to get cracking and make more decisions on the bathroom, but the amount of choice soon brings me to a standstill.
Yes I've gone off the dark nights already too! At first round here they switched off some of the lights, but if I get up in the night and look through the window it is pitch dark, so I suspect they are almost all switched off, even on the main road. I'd need a torch to walk up the close.

AnnG you are doing well getting well organised as usual, but you need to have those presents ready ahead for when your son calls as you say.

No Vera, so I hope she hasn't got the bad throat her OH had.

I'm off to bed now. I need to be up early tomorrow to get showered before the window cleaner comes and walks past the open bathroom window. :-0 :-0

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 26 Oct 2025 18:59

Yes Ann we were asked last time we went to the vets if there was anyone with a low immunity and that was the first time they had asked , it was the kennel cough as that's sprayed into the nose and the dog always sneezes after the spray so it goes into the air for you to breath it in .

Mel I don't like the darker nights either but at least we can look out onto street lights but you just have complete darkness ,lovely for you to see all the stars though on a clear night .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Oct 2025 16:54

Annx Report 26 Oct 2025 15:49

Afternoon All,

It was sunny this morning but of course now it is getting dark sooner it is very dull. Things like the cooker with a clock are turned off at the wall now to save electric, but it rights itself when you stwitch it back on. Most of ours adjust themselves, except the one in the lounge and a little travel alarm I use as a backup for the main one. OH also has a little travel alarm to do that he keeps where he works as he can't see the big clock from there. The one I always forget is the one in the car and sometimes drive round for a few days before I remember.

The food order should arrive soon but the salads we usually have for tomorrow are out of stock again and all six of the subs can go back this time. When you order something low fat you hardly want a sub described as 'creamy'. I think we'll have to make a trip to Sainsbury's down the road in the morning.

We didn't get a frost like you Mandy but I must sort my Geraniums too now. There are six I think and I will try them in the garage this year. When OH got home last night he was told something I thought I'd pass on to you. One of the ladies who has a dog had taken him to the vet for a Kennel Cough vaccination. The vet asked if anyone in the house was immuno compromised and she said her husband was as he has rheumatoid arthritis. The vet said he would not be able to give the dog the vaccination in that case. I've looked it up and any risk is small but because that vaccine is a live vaccine it is possible it can infect anyone living with the dog. I'd never heard of it before.

COT next and finish the sock drawer before the food arrives.

Gone cloudy here too and we've had a short shower. Dos'nt the day seem long to you? It does to me.

BIL did'nt stay long he said he was going home to boil his eggs for the week!!!!!! He must take them to work for his lunches.

I remember going fishing when young and we'd go with Uncle Les and his family and Aunty Jean always took boiled eggs in their shells and jars of sliced onion in vinigar oxo cubes to make a hot drink and lots of other stuff. Aunty Jean had four children and we would take a tent and put that up somewhere near where they were fishing and we would have our eats in there. We'd find shrews in the grass or conkers in the season. Catch tiddlers and sticklebacks and put them in jam jars with a string handle. Those were very happy days........
