Good morning all. fairly bright and dry so far 12 degrees. there was a beautiful full moon last night but it was so very high. Really must take a load of books down to Irene, with my foot problems and bad weather it is ages since I walked down and I have 8 books to take back. Book stall this weekend so they will be needed.

That's interesting how the Diamond Painting works, so thanks for the explanations. They would have been a good gift for the girls Mandy.
I suppose with a thatched roof Mel, it would be good then if Bonfire Night started with a good drenching of rain. Nowadays it's gone on for many nights here though starting before Diwali, but this year it's been quieter for more nights, but not just now! Mind you we looked at some fireworks in a cabinet at the garden centre and were surprised at the cost, some over £50 each and one over £100.
I'd better get to bed now, another early start tomorrow as Dan is coming to clean our gutters. I need to move the bins from down the side and put my car on the gravel in the morning so he can put his van there with his ladders etc handy. I'd best set the alarm.

Blimmin Ebay. I have sold 4 items to one person and they won't let me send an invoice because when the items come listed to me theres no buyers protection on the price which the buyer has to pay. They keep changing things....... its so frustrating :-S

Evening all,
Been very mild today we even had the back door open for a while this morning when we came back from shopping.
I bought the girls those diamond painting kits a couple of Christmas's ago ,the picture is sticky with a plastic cover so you pull the plastic back to work on a bit ,you have a small bit of wax that you push the pen into and that picks the diamond up quite easily ,you have to make sure you pick the diamond up on the raised side so the flat bottom sticks to the picture ,it's just like painting by numbers as you do each colour and the diamonds come in individual bags ,there's a tray that has ridges in so the diamonds lay in that and any over you then slide back into the bag.
Haven't heard any fireworks so far ,yes I wouldn't want to be in a thatched place with fireworks whizzing about .

Gosh that was expensive Ann. Egg on toast in future then. At least OH was pleased to have got a bargain with his cap from EW..
The diamond painting has little trays to put beads in while working with them. There is a small pen shaped tool with a special point kit is held agains a special tacky surface thing then you pick up the beads with it and press then into the base. It works well with little effort.

When I lived in suffolk I had a thatched roof and next door always held the village fireworks display but it was quite a long way down from the cottage but always a worry and no mobile phones then only the great big ones you had to carry a BIG battery pack with and the neighbour who hosted the display did have one of those cos when my son worked for him for a while he had to carry it around with him.
Must think about what to et tonight.
O yes bet wishes to Jake for his driving test next week.
Not heard any fireworks tonight I think a lot of people had them at the weekend as tonights a school night.
I can remember going to school the day after bonfire night and seeing how many roacket sticks we could find.
Going back to the diamond painting I think the little pieces have a pip on the back that fits into a hole on the printed board. The wax you pop the pen thing in is just so you can pick up the diamonds this means you have to be able to find the very small hole.

Afternoon All,
I slept quite well and today has been better than expected weatherwise as I'm sure rain was forecast the other day. We went to the garden centre in Rutland that has nice Christmas displays this morning. The drive there was nice with all the autumn leaves, but they have several rows of disabled parking spaces now on their very steep carpark, so it was a climb my knees could have done without and OH said he should have dropped me off outside. Once inside there is a steep slope down to the restaurant and christmas area, but I could at least hang onto the raised plant display trays. There certainly seem to have been cutbacks this year and the restaurant was very dimly lit and no nice fires lit. We chose a plate of individual items each with no bacon or hash browns to avoid some saturated fat and had a vegetarian sausage, mushrooms, beans, tomato, two eggs each and toast and OH had black pudding. I know individual items can be dearer but we couldn't believe that with two teas it cost over £32!! I think we'll just have toast another time. The displays were nice, but less decorated trees this year, but the model village was just as good. There were very few people looking around but I got some christmas cards I liked. OH looked at some caps like one he recently bought from EM and those were twice the price he paid at EM.
I looked at the Diamond Painting online as I'd never heard of it either AnnG. It made me think of cross stitch with the way you fill squares in with colours, but I could imagine me tipping what I was using on the floor and spending ages picking them up. I wonder what holds the bits in place,....glue? It didn't seem an easy craft to try the first time for people. Maybe it would be an idea to take an old apron another time. I mustn't be tempted as I have too much craft stuff already till I've used more beads up and I know my eyesight isn't good with tiny beads. What a game with your prescriptions today. The old systems worked ok and what happens if computers go down with a power outage they tell us there is risk of in future.
What miniatures have you made this time Mel? Is it acrylic paint you use to paint them and then varnish?
Mandy that was so nice your son was going to give the airfryer to the lady if he won it and how lucky she won it herself anyway. She must have been delighted. Yes the farmers round here cut a lot of the hedges lower than they used to now they do them with the tractors and attachments, so they wouldn't stop snow drifts like they used to. I'm sure they don't even try to work around lovely, big trees anymore to leave them. Probably H&S concerns, but these lovely trees take so long to grow and they take so much water up it helps prevent flooding. The big otree on the bank next to the brook where the yarn bomb is held was there and quite big when I was a teenager over 63 years ago. It's a wonder H&S haven't said to chop branches off before now.
Best wishes and crossed fingers xx for Jake's driving test next week!! I hope he does well and passes. :-)
A day of HW and other jobs for you then Vera, which is what I need to start doing next. I hope you have success with your Penstemon cuttings and that they all take well when potted up.
Isuppose it's going to be a noisy evening with fireworks. so not good for an early night. People with thatched roofs must worry a bit.

Well for about 25+ years of having regular medication and having the prescriptions always through the local chemist/pharmacy with virtually no problems. I have even been known to sing their praises when others have had problems. But the system has changed. Last Monday (26th October) I took in my 'pathway' prescription for the next 8 weeks. Asked when it would be ready as aware of a new system. Told 5 working days. As I had the hair appointment today, I left collecting it until then not wanting the walk round twice in a few days. They couldn't find it. Then they checked their PC records and said It is marked as being collected on the 26th. No, that was when I brought it in. BUT I did bring in and collected an antibiotic prescription. silence, Ah We will do it for you now. However as I was going to the hairdresser I said I would pick it up when finished there. Get back to the pharmacy. Oh it isn't done yet, she had a query on it. So they decide it will be done while I wait. And when it comes one item won't be in until tomorrow and that item is a very commonly used statin (Simvasatin). Luckily it has always been out of sync with my others meds as started at a different time so I have plenty of that osne. This 'new' system has been going over a month now when we they get used to it I wonder.

Good afternoon ladies
Short post today as I'm a bit busy and not much time to spare. I had a good night last night. This morning I went to the chiropodist and then came home and finished the ironing and now I must get on with a bit of h/w and I want to pot up the penstemon cuttings that are in water at the moment.
The talk last night was excellent. The speaker went on for an hour without any notes and he was really interesting. Although he was from Colchester Zoo the talk was just a little bit about the history of the zoo. Mostly it was about animals in general; conservation, welfare, international co-operation etc.
I have read all the posts but won't comment now or I will start rambling on and will write half a book again. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Yes probably Mel, but I wouldn't put it down as a craft the people doing it found it quite relaxing. I wouldn't put down painting by numbers ether. However both need good eyesight and a good amount of dexterity.
Edit: Actually mel I wonder if you may have been looking at the child kits. I have just seen a beautiful owl, I am quite tempted as it is reduced. It is so intricate must look great when finished.

Morning girls,
Anng I did look up the diamond painting and saw what it was. It looked a bit like painting by numbers to me but not so messy. Shame there were only 19 of you out of the 24 group members.
It a bit grey here this morning but the sun is trying to break through and its 15 degrees.
Hope you all slept well, I did last night and only got up once for the bathroom.

Good morning all hair cut today and rain forecast. Cynth will run me round in the car as she has nothing planned for today so that saves me walking there
I didn't intend looking to take on a new craft Mel, The Ladybird group just arranges all different things as a means of getting together. Each meeting hosted by a member of the group so far. I thought it was quite disappointing that there were only ten of us there as there are 24 in the group. It was not intended that everyone should take part. It was good for me to see what it entailed as I now have an idea for Christmas presents for Great Granddaughter. If you google 'diamond art' on Amizon Mel you can see what it is.
grandson's birthday today. Just heard from him that he flies to Budapest tomorrow, going to spend a few weeks travelling around europe apparently. :-D

That was lovely the old lady won the air fryer and good of your son to think of giving it to her if he had won it. What a thoughtful chap.
I did loads of ironing this afternoon and still have a bit to do I had sorted the pillowcase draw and gave them all a good wash so I can sort them out into the ones I want to keep and the ones to throw away.
Shame there was nothing inthe way of a craft you fancied doing Anng and I hav'nt heard of the diamond painting.

It was an interesting afternoon. The lady who was running the meeting makes several different things. Some chose to have a go, although I was interested it was not my type of craft. However I learnt a lot by watching others. Some were doing Diamond decorating stuff using kits. Sometimes it is called Diamond painting, I thought it might be fun to have a go at when nit so involved with card making etc. this is tiny coloured beads pressed using a special tool into various shapes. Very pretty I have seen juts in the shops. Other people were using small tiles to decorate place mats. The ones that our demonstrator had done were very effective but the ladies learning seemed to get a bit messy. Not for me I don’t think. Jean demonstrated lots of things she had made herself she is very talented.

Vera that talk about the Zoo sounds like it might be interesting ,especially if they bring any of the smaller things in to the hall with them :-0 snakes ,spiders etc :-0 :-D
Ann your gradually sorting your cupboards I see , I had a pair of sandals that I hadn't worn and they just crumbled in my hand the whole heel came away :-D also my old pair of wheelie boots went all sticky .
Such a shame when they chop down the hedges ,years ago the hedges helped when we had bad snow falls as it stopped the drifting on the back roads but the farmers chopped them about to make some of the fields bigger but then the roads got blocked .They are making some more of thd A47 duel carriageway but they have taken out so many of the lovely trees on the side of the road and across some of the fields it looks so different now ,I haven't seen it but son was saying about it . Next week Jake has his driving test so we're all keeping our fingers crossed .
Still haven't been in the Food warehouse but son said they had their grand opening on Saturday and they were giving away lots of gifts to the first 150 customers, tins of sweets, vouchers, and bread products and spin the wheel to win things ,dil won a drinks bottle and son won a bag ,son and dil were in the queue and he said there was raffle tickets to win an airfryer and a little old lady in front of him said oh I would like to win that I've always wanted one ,son said he thought well if we win it I'll give it to her as they already have one and he knew we had one ,he said when the raffle was drawn blow me if she didn't win it , he said it was nice to see it go to somebody who really wanted one .

Evening All,
What a gloomy start to today. OH had an achey night so we changed our plans and I went to a garden centre on my own while he went for a walk. As they do nice poached eggs on toast I thought I might have some while I was there. No such luck as there was a problem in the kitchen and no hot food, so I just had a coffee and biscuit before having a browse. They had a few nice little narrow plastic baskets that I thought may fit the new cupboards when they are done but daren't risk getting any till I'm sure they would fit, by which time they will likely have gone and been replaced by Christmas goodies. My heart had sunk as I drove down to the garden centre which is almost opposite where I lived when I got married the first time. The garden centre was a pig farm when I lived there and was surrounded by acres of fields. Now they are to cover them with new houses, but why did they need to raze to the ground over a mile, in fact all of the hedges along the roadside? Where are all the little creatures living there supposed to live? They started to do the same when they finished building other houses in a nearby village, but half the length of the hedge has been left and grown tall and is nicer to look out on than the busy road and it deadens the traffic noise too, I think the house owners must have stopped them cutting it once they saw what was happening.
I've sorted one and a half of those bedroom cupboards and thrown a few things out including an unworn pair of sandals that strangely had sticky soles and my fingernail just pressed into the soles like it was jelly! They are in the bin now. I did find slippers I'd forgotten about, zebra striped ones, so that was good. I'll see if I can do more tomorrow.
The craft meeting idea sounded good AnnG, so I wonder what crafts you were doing too. It sounds like an interesting group having different ideas each time.
The fireworks here started before Diwali. Some are far too loud, despite our double glazing, blinds and curtains on the front they still keep me awake. They ignore the law changes about when you can let them off too.
That was a nuisance about your tablets Vera, but you managed your other errands and your hair appointment. I imagine tonight's talk will be interesting about the zoo.
