Morning all,
It was really frosty here this morning when I got out for the loo in the night I looked at the car and thought we had had snow ,black clouds out there now so I expect a shower is on its way .

Thank you for that list of foods Anng I'll have to try and eat a few more things off the list that I don't normally eat although we always have lots of green veg and other veg ,salads and fruit .

Mel liver is one thing I can't stand ,we do eat a lot of chicken ( sorry Mels girls ) we have mince ,sausages ,gammon and I have tuna so we have what I thought was a good mix of food .
Hope you can get your emails sorted today .

Good morning all only 4 degrees but bright and sunny, seems we can have it cold and bright or warm and wet. I am ever hopeful that soon it will be warm and sunny.

It is photography this afternoon but nothing planned for this morning so probably a few admin jobs. It was a really difficult subject for this month for me and I have had to search the archives for examples ("fun").

Mandy, to 'self help' once your body adjusts again to you eating proper food you can help your iron intake by eating iron rich food. Do you like liver? Dark green vegetables? Interesting that the Red Cross have a list on their web site, for people donating blood, for iron rich food,

Still can't get into my emails. Going to have to go through it all again tomorrow. The funny thing is they asked for oh's details which I gave them.

Another cold, wet day (sigh). Another week and we’ll be into May. I hope it gets a bit warmer then.

You must feel that your painting will never get done AnnG what with the weather and Jake not always turning up when you expect him. I hope his little one makes a good recovery. You wondered why Annx’s nibbler was chewing off the leaves and leaving them. I read that they are trying to get the water inside the stems to drink. I’m not sure how true that is as I would have thought there was plenty of rain water around for them at the moment.

Thanks for the pictures Mel.. They look nice clean birds but they made me smile. With their long necks and heads in the air I thought they looked like rather snooty ladies who will rule the roost :-D

I am glad that the doctor left some notes Mandy but it’s dreadful nobody rang you to tell you. At least you now know that you can leave the iron tabs off. Fingers crossed that will clear the problem and they can find a different way of getting the iron into you. You must be feeling completely drained. It’s good the sample was clear.

Belated happy birthday to the thread. I don’t think I started posting until early 2019 as I seem to remember that I had only been on the thread for 3 or 4 months when we went to Vienna and OH was taken ill. I remember everyone being so supportive and being glad I’d joined the thread.

We went for our usual Thursday coffee meet this morning. There were 10 of us today so nearly a full house. I’m not sure what I’ve done this afternoon except faff about but the time seems to have flown and now I’m going to have a look at the crossword and then perhaps read in bed or watch something on iPlayer. Sleep well everyone.

Oh Mel thats a nuisance I hope you can get it sorted .

Well no call from the doctor so I rang just now and there were notes left on my record from the doctor to say I have to stop the iron tablets and see if the diarrhea stops
I also asked if my sample result was back and that was clear with no more action needed so that was good ,so they know its not a bug so it must be the tablets.
So bland food for me until it stops ,I had two rounds of toast and a banana for my meal tonight,I don't like this diet but I have list five pounds .

Let's keep fingers crossed Monday is a dry day Anng then Jake can get the painting done ,it's a worry when littles are ill .

Ann could you put/tye something over the hosta to cover it for a few days what ever it is might leave it alone if it can't get to it ,i see you have two pots so you might have to cover the other one too .
Yes I did enjoy my marmite on toast but it wasn't long before I was back on the loo , so i had some dioralyte and a couple of imodium these blooming tablets have really upset my system.
No rain here so far but it keeps going over very black.

Looking at the start of this thread and with the knowledge that it was a continuation of a former thread Mel started it must have been 2008. I have been a GR member since 2003. I do remember the thread being formed by Mel. I think it was when a lot of people left to go on facebook after the troubles we had on here. I Might have made an initial posting on the first thread and I know I used to chat to Mel in the 'old days'. But I can't remember when I actually joined this thread.

Annx actually Jake would have had to abandon the painting as it has rained off and on. I just decided to walk to the post box got a third of the way there and it started to rain again so I got a bit wet. never mind I posted two letters so that was good.

Yes I hope his little one is recovering now.

I wonder what the point is of which ever animal it is chewing the hostas. They are obviously not eating the leaves.

Annx

Annx Report 25 Apr 2024 13:57

Afternoon All,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THREAD <3 I can't remember when I joined the thread either, but know it was the first time I'd ever posted on a thread and I wondered if anyone would reply! It amazing it is 16 years now, they have passed so quickly.

Thanks for the photos Mel and your chickens look great and nice and clean as AnnG says. I expected them to be a bit, well, scruffy and pecked like battery chickens, but these look really good.

Our night time nibbler has been back. Whatever it is, it has reached into the middle of the pot and even nibbled through the stalks of the tiniest leaves, but just left them where they have fallen in the pot. I carefully pulled back the leaves all around the pot to see if there was a hole where something had made it's home, but could see nothing. I hope it doesn't chew off all of the leaves and then start on the other pot!

How disappointing Jake has now had to put off the painting till Monday AnnG. It seems like he has a good reason this time though with the baby unwell. Fingers crossed he will be able to do it on Monday and that the weather will be fine.

I hope you hear from your GP today Mandy. The toast and marmite is good to have. Hubby loves marmite and I try some every now and again as it is good for us, but I can't manage more than a small slice! I even put half a tsp in gravy sometimes. lol

wishing the thread a happy birthday <3 <3 <3 Well done Mel for keeping it going for so long. Thanks for the photos, nice clean white chickens!!

Hope you hear from the doc today Mandy

so that is my day mucked up. Once again Jake won't be coming today, he is at the hospital with his little one, the youngest of four. Apparently she was born at 28 weeks and they have quite a few problems with her, apparently she has not been well since her latest jab whichever one that was, she is having trouble with her oxygen levels and her breathing and now has a rash. Jake has to take her while his partner gets the other three to school. He has said he will come Monday now. I won't hold my breath.
