I volunteered to look after my sisters dog a few years ago, she howled all day while I was at work, took her to work the next day she howled all that day too after that I took her to my sisters house and dumped her with the bloke next door.

:-| :-| :-| YG, that is a bloomin cheek, I would have said definitely not,put her in kennels. I am getting hard in my old age as I am fed up with some folk taking the p**s. If you do consider the spray make sure you do noy pay for it as it is not your responsibility

I'll try it the next time I have her for a couple of days to see if it makes any difference.

I am really cross with M for volunteering my services for two weeks. She won't have her, but even suggested that I might take some leave to look after her! I'm certainly not going to book any as I have a week off at the end of March so don't want to waste two weeks in April when I won't even be able to leave her unless the calming spray works. V suggested that I take her to M to look after for a couple of hours while I go out :-0 :-0 :-0

I knew that I was going to be asked on a regular basis the first time I helped out with her :-| :-|

It is not cheap YG but it has worked on 2 of our cats. The change in this latest one is amazing in just 2 days. :-D.

LG, I have been researching your recommendation. The treatment for dogs is called Adaptil, but it is hellish expensive. The reviews vary, but quite a few say it hasn't worked for them. There is another natural remedy that can be used on various animals at around £20 with reasonable reviews and it consists of a plug in, plus spray and wipes.

V is going to bring the cage when I have her again and she is used to being left in that, although she normally has the company of the other dog. As long as she stops barking a few minutes after I go out of the door, hopefully she will be ok to leave for an hour or two. At the moment, I can't even go outside to feed the birds without a howling/barking session.

Evening all, YG you could try Feliway Spray to ease the anxiety. I bought some for the cat as she would not come out of hiding. The last 2 days she has ventured out into the room and is enjoying a good fuss and stroke thou not by OH. We think she may have been cruelly treated by a man as she scuttles away if she sees him.
