YG Report 15 Dec 2010 19:10

No snow here yet and not forecast at the moment, although biting cold! Been and bought some wellies this lunchtime, just in case. Can't manage with ankle boots if it comes down like last time! Went for a snow shovel but they are still waiting for the delivery, so might try local shop to see whether they have any more now. I am going to prepared this time and as I am off right through Christmas until New Year, I don't care if I have to stay under the duvet to keep warm!!

Just joined FB, not through choice really, I wanted to look at the tributes to Steptoe's son, but I am pleased I did now, as my long lost pal from Canada has got in touch today. Can't wait to catch up with her.

YG

YG Report 15 Dec 2010 21:52

Can't get hobnail boots on my gammy foot LG!! Wellingtons are difficult enough!! Hope to goodness they are slip proof!!

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Dec 2010 22:51

Ah - hobnail boots to stop slipping on ice - now thats a good idea - lol Failing that, Wellies with deep treads are a good bet, with a strong man to cling onto. At least the wellies should keep your feet dry. Remember to wear an extra pair of socks to keep your tootsies warm.

Sorry to hear by implication that something unexpected has happened to your step-son YG.

Have you noticed that when you physically can't do something, you notice things that need doing, or is it just me??

Mazfromnorf Report 16 Dec 2010 06:14

morning its not here yet just cold so we will wait and see its the rain that will be perilous Andrew has not come home so i hope he has had some sleep after cleaning the coach before a school run he will be shattered and moody lol

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 16 Dec 2010 10:07

Morning all - don't like the sound of Andrew not getting enough time off work to sleep, especially if he is coach driving. He needs to check the law, as I think there is a minimum requirement between shifts. Lack of sleep because of work requirements is not a good thing, especially as his and other's lives are at stake.
...........................
http://www.hse.gov.uk/contact/faqs/workingtime.htm
Daily rest

Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, regulation 10, a worker is entitled to a rest period of 11 consecutive hours rest in each 24 hour period during which he works for his employer.

However, there are a number of special circumstances in which the entitlement to rest periods does not apply, for example, where the activities involve a need for continuity of service or production or where there is a foreseeable surge of activity. Also, if a shift worker changes shift, it may not be possible for them to take their full rest entitlement before starting the new pattern of work. In such a case the entitlement to daily and weekly rest does not apply.
...................................

I think he needs to point this out to his employers if he hasn't just bedded down with a mate for say 8 or 9 hours.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 16 Dec 2010 11:26

Yes, he should look into that Maz, it could be dangerous driving if he isn't getting his sleep, especially in this weather.

It's been snowing here since about 7am, not looking good for my day out. Better leave here early and drive slowly.

Take care everyone.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 16 Dec 2010 15:18

hi he was within the law because he does not drive all day he has been home to bed today but back in for a school run they have to stay legal because they lose their license otherwise and its all on the tacos
he will also have been asleep in new castle on the back seat of the bus
