A tale from the Forest of Ardent.......

Deep in the forest someone stirred
at the twitter of a little bird
disturbed above her leafy bower.
" Oh Cometh the man and Cometh the hour !"
Thus ran the maiden's happy thought,
she looked upon the gifts she'd brought.
Fresh laundered hose , and food and wine
"Now very soon he will be mine!".

Indeed, as branches seemed to part
there stood the outlaw of her heart.
Arrayed in costume made to blend
with all the colours trees attend.
She waited for his words of love
(the bird still watching up above).
And falling to her knees, in joy,
did peep up with a look most coy.

" My lord and master, you're in luck
I've brought some liquor and a duck
it's plucked and cooked and we shall eat
and then my bottom you can beat"
(Oooh no!, that isn't what she said
how ever came that in my head?!
That latter speech I will amend
but p'raps not till the story's end.)

They feasted long, and did consume
their wine. Then kissing, did resume,
where they left off the previous day
when passion's potent needs did play
upon their hearts and on their loins.
And for neither love, nor any coins,
could anyone disrupt this scene
no husband, wife, could come between.

to be cont'd.
