meanwhile in another glade
her suitor polished up his blade
vowing he would 'run amok'
twixt those who'd stop his run of luck.
"The maids shall pay the final price
for saying things that aren't nice
about good fellows such as I ,
I'll sort them out and that's no lie!"

"Those vixens with their wicked speech
I'll have revenge on all and each.
How dare they say I am a letcher
Frustrated's what they are, I'll betcha!
At least i have my faithful wench
to part with her would be a wrench,
but I would get rid quick, forsooth,
if she ever gives away the truth."

"No" said the Sherriff, red with rage
"Crow is passe, don't you know?
Friar Tuck should have some duck
not some old bird, nasty muck!"

"But Sire", said she of dubious morals
"Friar Tuck is out of luck - My lover's
taken all the duck"

"What shall I do? where shall I go
to get more duck for Friar Tuck?"

"Forsooth kind Sir, pray do not tell
Me 'usband, he'll play merry 'ell!

The duck I plucked was for his dinner,
Sire - I am an awful sinner!

He'll have my hide for this I know
He'll have to make do with some Crow!"

ROFL Jac :))

Jac

Jac Report 27 Jul 2009 15:23

The Sherrif pulled out his nice new spanner
(bought specially to fix his Scaner):

"Too late, young Miss", was his retort
"Your 'usband's not a rotten sort!"

"He should be told, should Friar Tuck,
what happened to his Peking Duck"

Rambling

Rambling Report 27 Jul 2009 15:16

Now where was I...

The Sherrif stood , his gun in hand
it was the best in all the land
And made the maiden quite aghast
though she stuttered out some words at last.
" It isn't weally what you fink
just a respite from the kitchen sink,
my husband you won't surely tell?
He may consign me then to Hell"

" And being as he is a friar
he wouldn' like a little liar"
Her eyelashes she sweetly fluttered
though the truth behind the eyes was shuttered.
Her skirt she smoothed down with a fuss
" Whate'er you saw it wasn't us"
Her protestation, (said with smirk)
"It can't have been 'cos I'm at work"

Jac

Jac Report 27 Jul 2009 14:54

Fair Rose, I fear the time draws near
When I away to friends (quite near)

Upon my return, I await the fate
of Peking Duck, upon the plate!

Tis criminal to leave it there,
whilst wolves and foxes take their share:

Dear reader fair with patience wait
for further news upon the fate
of unplucked duck , there's more to tell
it is not yet this poem's knell.
But even poets must attend
to little duties now and then.
Washing , must be done alack
or 'mother/ poet' gets the sack

Rambling Report 27 Jul 2009 14:46

The wench's words rang loud and clear
but didn't reach her lover's ear,
" Run, my love, God speed your way
Tis all the love we'll make today"
Of further talk there was no need
Already gone,upon his steed
was her lover thus, in mighty haste
no fond goodbye, no time to waste.

What happened to the plucked duck? )))

Rambling

Rambling Report 27 Jul 2009 14:37

Alas, their joy was premature
( it can be treated I am sure)
For down the forest path did come
the Sherrif with a hunters' gun.
(A new invention for the times,
but my poem doth have need of rhymes).
" Gadzooks! " The Sherrif said with glee
"what sport this doth provide for me"

" This lover and his wench thus found,
like foxes , I have run to ground.
Their 'jeux d'amour' in shotgun's sights
Methinks I have them 'bang to rights".
(The Sherrif you will note has lines
that make him quite ahead of times) .
The lovers leapt, in dissaray,
upon their countenance' dismay.
