The Portmeirion I mainly have is the brown Totem design

I see it sells on eBay for much more than I paid for it :-)

Tec ..................

I think that many of the guys who serve for long years develop a "sense of entitlement"

Back then (about 25 years ago), the IRU had a sense of entitlement ........... in that they were owed expensive hotels, first class travel, fine dining, etc etc

OH can't stand that

it's exactly the same "sense of entitlement" that we saw in the IOC before the 2010 Winter Olympics here ............ their demands were extraordinary, especially compared with what they expected the athletes to put up with :-(

My sister has a full Portmeirion dinner service, it is very nice. I have been there as well

"I am not prisoner - I am a free man" :-D No six.

It is I suppose an interesting place Sylvia, and a tribute to the imagination of its creator Gough Williams Ellis I think., and in a beautiful setting.

You would immediately recognise scenery from The Prisoner

Two or three friends collected the Portmeirion Botanic sets

Tecwyn Report 13 Sep 2014 22:20

Sylvia I hope your OH enjoys his special evening. Also likes the jacket :-D

There has been a lot of discontent at the top of the Welsh Rugby Union. The chairman of many years was this week voted out of office.

I'd love to go to Portmeirion :-)

I have some Portmeirion pottery .................... including some lovely tall thin brown mugs and coffee pot, and matching plates that I bought back around 1965 for "peanuts"

but there was also The Prisoner .................... I'd love to see the place and see if I can recognise scenes from that :-)

I hope you are going to have something really decadent for dinner then Sylvia

Not quite the top note Linda :-D quite a struggle these days. :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Sep 2014 22:15

I have to cook my own dinner tonight :-(

The BC Rugby Union is celebrating 125 years, and there is a dinner for Past Presidents tonight ................ so OH is going. They are giving them all special "jackets", so he'll have to carry home either that or the one he goes in ........ he's not supposed to know about the presentation :-)

He was Secretary of the Union for several years, then President. Then he was elected Secretary of the Canadian RU .................. but served only 1 year before he got fed up of the graft that was going on, and quit.

He was also asked to become the Canadian rep to the International Union ................ but he knew too much about what went on there!

The sheanigans at the CRU actually led him to stop going to games or most events .............. but tonight is special.

We are also having lovely weather Sylvia, very warm today. As you say, cooler nights.

Linda it is good that the concerts in the parks are so well attended, and as popular as ever.

It is good how there are so many people in the Proms in the parks all over the country all watching on big screens and singing along

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Sep 2014 22:10

it's another lovely sunny day here ..... temperature getting up to 22/23C

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Sep 2014 22:10

Gosh Linda - you are an absolute wizard - it worked :-D thank you.

Sylvia I will check with the fitters if it's ok to go out. My sister is particularly keen to go to Portmeirion, although Ive been there several times :-(

Much stuff will have to be thrown or given away, as I won't have as much storage.

Now I'm singing loudly :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Sep 2014 22:09

Hi Linda, and Tec

we'll see the Proms in several weeks time :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Sep 2014 22:01

Hold control down Tec and slide your finger up or down on the right hand edge of the touch pad, it will increase or decrease the size of the text on your screen. It has the same effect as scrolling the wheel

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Sep 2014 21:58

Tec ............... I'm sure that you will be able to go out with your visitors. You won't have to stay around all day while the fitters are working.

They'd probably prefer to have you out the way :-)

Just inspect everything very carefully at the end of the day, and especially on the last day :-)

You can then take your time sorting out and putting back stuff ........ and deciding where it makes best sens to put this, that, and t'other

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Sep 2014 21:56

I am going to close down and re-boot, can't cope with this :-(

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Sep 2014 21:55

Good that they have the words on the screen :-)

I am singing in my best chapel voice :-D
