I do indeed remember Margeurita Prachatan :-D I would have had to stay for sheer amusement - she was hysterically funny - well I thought so. :-D
Very inconsiderate of people to smoke where others are eating. :-|

Sorry Tec, I didn't see your post
I don't think they have much training at all Tec, sadly they will be paid minimum wage, so will move on as soon as they can find a better paid job. It is the same in the nurseries,at least round our way it is. They are mainly staffed by the sort of girls I would never leave my children with in a million years.
I was so relieved to see that Esmes nursery is staffed by older women who seem to know what they are doing. They do have a fair turn over though as they find better employment. Eve has been upset a few times when the carers she has become attached to have left

We are back from dinner, the food here is excellent, but tonight there was live music, a lady singing along to music tracks on her computer. It was in English, well I think so, but she sounded like Margeurita Prachatan , if you remember here.
The real reason we left quickly was because despite the no smoking signs, the couple on the next table lit up their foul smelling cigarettes. I suppose they thought that because they were on an outside terrace that it is OK. Actually I don't suppose they thought anything for anyone else around them, they just had need of their stupid weed. Rant over

I did phone the home today, and spoke to the manager. Apparently the Duchess was having a "difficult" day yesterday. It was obvious that the Duchess was very confused, and needed help from a member of staff, not left in her room alone to become more confused.
I pointed this out to the manager who apologised but said that she was busy yesterday in a meeting with the owners.
Just as well I visited when I did. I know from experience how to handle that situation, and within a short time of sorting out the confusion, which basically came down to the Duchess not knowing what to put on in the morning, so had dragged almost everything out, then not knowing what to do.
I folded everything and put the clothes away in types, so order was restored.
Makes you wonder how much training the young girls employed at the home have had in caring for people with such problems. A little help at the right time would have avoided the situation.

Grr fourth time to post this
Turn the heating on and stay in with Milo Tec,
Did you manage to talk to the home manager today?
We went to the pool today for a change of scene, but I didn't go in. There is a nice lunchtime restaurant on site so we have been using that. After lunch it was very hot so we came back to the suite and when it had cooled down we read on the loungers in our courtyard which was in shade by then
I am going to take the bandage off now so I can have a shower, I will use my own knee support for dinner then take it off . I was very surprised to be told to keep the bandage on for two days as I know you are supposed to rake them off at night.

It is not a good idea to sleep at night with an elasticated bandage on your leg. Any kind of restriction while resting for long periods can cause a blood clot. I know they sometimes advise an elastic stocking on long haul flights to prevent DVTs, but I suppose that's because the leg is in a different position, not horizontal as in bed.
Today is overcast, but dry and warm. We have been issued a severe weather warning for tonight when torrential rain will arrive, up to four inches, accompanied by high winds. That will be followed by a considerable drop in daytime temperatures. Autumn has arrived.
I've been hacking at more things in the garden today, with Milo for company. He is here until Monday when his mother comes back, but I have him again on Tuesday because she is going to collect another foster dog, who will stay until she is found a forever home. Another lady collects Milo twice a day to take him for a walk.

The gardens sound lovely Sue. I am glad Joel enjoyed them, it must be nice for him to have your undivided attention without the twins being there
I didn't sleep very well last night because of the bandage. I was surprised to be told to keep it on as well Sylvia. I have to go back to the doctors tomorrow morning and the two days will be up then. I am actually going to take it off at bedtime tonight. I will tell him that I took it off in the morning so I could have a shower
I know what you mean about the injection Sue, before if I tried to move in a way the knee didn't approve of the pain warned me not too

Hi Sue, and everyone
Sue ............. what are the gardens??
We make a point of visiting Botanical Gardens wherever we go ............ we've seen a lot in Australia of course, from Sydney to Brisbane, Perth, Bendigo, Balmain, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, Alice Springs, etc etc etc
I still hope that we will get down under at least one more time.
Tec ............. sorry to hear that the Duchess may have been left unwatched. Hope you get satisfaction when you phone the Manageress.
Linda ............ do take care with that knee.
I've actually never heard of keeping a elastic bandage on all day. I've always taken mine off at bedtime, and for rest periods during the day
We've had more pleasant fall days .......... fog in the early mornings, but sun in the afternoons, with some cloudy periods.
But it is definitely getting cooler
OH took the car in this morning, and had the snow tires put on ............... the ones taken off were to be disposed of by the mechanics. We'll have to buy new ones next spring ............... when these snow tires will also probably be "dumped", and we'll have to buy new ones in October next year.
The tires seem to last about 3 years .............. but do take up space in our basement as we store them for the next season :-)
take care everyone
s xx

It was only after my father had been in hospital and they had to give the care home a care plan that more things were done to keep him comfortable. They didn't like me :-D
We had a wonderful day at the gardens. They are beautifully set out with native plants from different area of Australia. Lots of plants are in bloom. The gardens are very popular as there are activities for children to do. Joel had a great time - he is such an enthusiastic boy and loves to learn different things. Some of the birds we saw are beautiful and Joel was delighted to see a nest in a tree and hear the babies cheeping.
Today Maisie gets her stitches out and then she can have a bath :-)

Good Morning Sue,
Hope you had a good day at the botanical gardens :-)
I think anyone with a relative in a care home will see "worrying" things from time to time. The staff where the Duchess is can never be described as too busy - they seem to spend a lot of time gathered around the office door laughing and chatting. I get the impression that the management is very lax.

Hello friends :-)
Another glorious morning here - I love Spring :-)
Linda - do be careful. OH also had an injection for the pain and needed to remember that only the pain was gone not the problem.
Definately have a word with the manager Tec. I had to have very sharp words with the manager of the nursing home where my father was. He was left to sit in soaked trousers because the staff were too busy to take him to the toilet. He would have been appalled if he had been aware :-(

I am not in charge of the wheelchair OH is :-D
I had better turn in as a hectic day of leg resting beckons tomorrow I think I might try the loungers by the pool. I can dangle my baggage in as the water is apparently icy cold, it will soon dry in this heat.
Goodnight,sleep well

Yes I will have a word with the manager tomorrow - she was obviously busy with the owners as I left.
They may have laws where you are about being drunk in charge of a wheelchair, so be very careful :-D
Glad to see that you are getting some relief from the pain, but be careful.
