It is too hot in here and the hot water was too hot. I think the plumber must have turned up the settings on the boiler, I will have to check them

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 21:57

Quite :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 21:56

Well if it was democratic, I wouldn't be running it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 21:55

Glad to see that you run a democratic household :-D

Something wrong with that sentence - can you spot it?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 21:52

OH cooked dinner, so it was my turn to wash up

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 21:50

Should have got OH to do it - you'll end up with wash day red hands.

"Hands that wash dishes can be soft as your face with mild green fairy liquid"

:-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 21:45

No I didn't, I know that is shocking

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 21:44

Dreadful to have to wash things by hand :-D I trust you wore your marigolds?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 21:42

Coffee is here now. There was a slight delay when I went in the kitchen and realised the washing up hadn't been done. Most of it goes in the dish washer, but the bread pan and cast iron pan I use for steaks don't clean well in the dishwasher, i prefer to do them by hand

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 21:33

I'd rather my door be answered by the butler :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 21:31

Get your maids outfit out and answer the door in it, she won't recognise you. Show her into the parlour, then quickly whip off your apron and cap and you can make your entrance

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 21:06

That's what I thought.

I want to see the Duchess tomorrow, as I don't want to go with her sister and nephew on Monday - that will stress her.

So I will also have to tidy up tomorrow in readiness for the visit. Alright for the Duchess's sister - she has maid come in every day - I don't.

I know she will be running an eye over the place :-P

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 21:01

You do have a busy week and it will be nice to have the tree up for the visitors.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 20:58

Well it is a bit earlier than I would normally put it up, but looks like I will have a busy week next week.

The Duchess's sister who is over for Christmas from Hong Kong is visiting on Monday with Duchess's nephew.
My brother and SIL are visiting on Tuesday,

The decorator called to ask can her decorate the kitchen as I had mentioned I wanted it done.
Not very convenient, but I said yes - there isn't much to do, only two walls and the ceiling as two walls are tiled.

Then my family are coming for the weekend - plus I have all the housework to do.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 20:51

I won't ask for any of your chocolate as Sue has lots, I will have hers instead :-D

I suggested to Oh that we should put the tree up today, but he is a bah humbug and said it is too early

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 20:45

We didn't have a frost, but it is still very cold out there.

Well the Christmas tree is up. It does look nice. There's a fan of fibre optics on the end of each branch, that flicker and change colour, red, green, white, yellow, blue.

As it's nearly Christmas, and I should get festive, I have decided to enjoy a square of chocolate :-D just the one, then I can have another over Christmas :-D

Very brave of you Linda to commence splitting your tree. I also want to do that as well.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 20:29

Brr and double brr

The white frost hasn't lifted all day. It is going to be warmer than last hight though, all of zero if the forecast is correct

I have bitten the bullet and have started separating my family tree into four bits. The branch I am doing is going well, but I have to add all of the images from scratch which will take a long time

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 12:00

I love a fairy when she is forty, it. Won't be Christmas without her. Ask Sue to go and get your decorations for you. You can use some and donate the rest to a charity shop.

It is a solid white frost here. We are back from the market and Ii am not going out again. The poor birds have no water as it is frozen, but it is pointless attempting to put any out

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Dec 2014 11:45

It is difficult to get anyone around here to do small jobs. They will gladly re-wire, re-plumb, or do a complete paint job on the house, but anything else is beneath them.

I do have a service contract with British Gas, that covers parts and labour. It is expensive, but was worth it with our old boiler as it was always breaking down. Since the new one was installed we have had no trouble, so really just the annual service is expensive.

Now I have a decorator, albeit a weird one with his conspiracy theories, but does a good job if you can put up with him.

Also a tame all round odd job man who will do most jobs, so things are looking up.

It is a nice bright sunny day here - the sea looks like glass, but it is perishing cold.
I don't have to go out. The washing is on and can go in the tumble dryer, and I have Christmas presents to wrap, having got rid of the Christmas cards yesterday.

I may put my Christmas tree up today, which just means taking it out of its box and plugging it in.
Unlike years ago having to treck to the forest with my daughter, who would examine every tree for sale before finally selecting her perfect idea of a tree. Stuffing it into the car with the back hanging out, and the Duchess complaining that she was still finding pine needles in August.

The fairy for the top of the tree is at least forty years old, but I don't know where she is, and may not bother with her this year.
Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty.
:-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2014 09:16

Yeah, he has arrived. It is just to service the boiler, it is a real problem to find anyone to do it round here, they all just want to install new systems and I won't pay the extortionate price the gas board want.
