You seem a little fraught Linda :-D

Never mind, once you leave tomorrow, everything will get underway, and you will be full of Christmas spirit, and enjoy it all, really you will. :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 23 Dec 2014 19:37

I envy you Tec.

Eve is in bed in good time, having had a screaming tantrum in the bath because she didn't want her hair washed. Odd that hanma drew the short straw and got bathtime duty

We will leave about midday tomorrow, although I cant imagine my daughter will be ready on time. I am not messing about,we are leaving and they can come when they want

You were lucky. 8-30am is almost lunch time to Eve, she must have been tired :-)

Milo has gone home. His mother arrived at 2-30pm. She got a huge welcome :-D
He was good company. Now time to get the vacuum out.

Gruesome day here, dark, wet, and very windy. So glad I don't have to go out.

I imagine the sixty four million people on the other side of the mountain are all caught up in the insanity of Christmas :-(

I shall close the curtains, throw another log on the fire, and ignore it all :-D
Humbug.

It was 8.30 am so not bad at all.

Much playing has been done, my nice tidy house has been trashed, but never mind, we are having fun

Hello Persie,
I'm sure Evan will be very smart in his new outfit, hope he likes them.

The shopping area you have discovered sounds good, so I suppose that you will be going there in future rather than Auckland with it's traffic problems, and no doubt parking problems.

Although we don't have anywhere like that here, it is rather nice that both sides of the High St there are lots of individual privately owned shops selling all kinds of things.
Although there are several bakers, and butchers, the fish monger, and greengrocer shops have disappeared.

Edit - Should have said that High St is ten miles away, not in this village.

Persephone Report 22 Dec 2014 23:02

I bought Evan a nice T shirt and cargo type shorts yesterday, I looked at lots of shorts that all had waist measurements and I have no idea so it will be elasticated waist again.. but they are rather nice.. I looked at some shorts and could not make my mind up whether they were shorts or pyjamas so had to ask.

When I went to pay (in the menswear section he has graduated from boyswear) the woman serving asked if I would like to try them on. I smiled and said ah no thank you they are for my grandson.

First time I have been to this shopping area and I say area because as well as the mall there are shops all around the edge of part of the car park and then there are mega stores all along the road. It is about 30mins drive south of us, so quite reasonable and nowhere near as far as Auckland and the hustle and bustle and standstill of traffic does not apply.

Well I hope Hanma has her Christmas Fairy outfit at the ready to jump into at 6-30am :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Dec 2014 22:48

It seems ridiculous to me as well Tec.

All is quiet here, the girls are both asleep. Eve told her mum, she is going into hanma's bed when she wakes up in the morning

Tecwyn Report 22 Dec 2014 22:20

I'm surprised that it's flowering. Should be a spray of trumpet like flowers on a thick green stem - still, it's making an effort.
They were all what I'd broken off the parent plant because it was pot bound with hardly any soil left in the pot.

I expect Eve is fighting to stay awake because she's excited.

All the fan club told me what they were hoping to have for Christmas - I should image their father has taken out a second mortgage. :-D

I was talking to one of the carers at the nursing home the other day. She has three children, and had spent over £1,500 so far on them :-(
Call me scrooge, but that seems ridiculous to me, although I know it's easily done.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Dec 2014 22:12

There just seems to be one flower, it is just poking through, it looks more dark pink than orange, but it hasn't opened up yet. I was surprised that it has flowered as we split it after you gave it to us. I can hear Eve talking away to herself in bed, I am amazed that she is still awake

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 22 Dec 2014 21:57

Glad your visitors have arrived safely Linda - you'd think Eve would be too tired to be chatting now :-D

The plant is called "Clivia" it should have a cluster of orange flowers. The more mature the plant becomes the bigger the flower. Sometimes you get several stems on the same plant.
Was known as a Victorian parlour plant.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 22 Dec 2014 21:36

OH used to go and see Joe Cocker before he was famous, his band practised in the youth club

I have put Eve to bed but she seems to be chatting to her father now.

Ooh Tec, your plant had a flower coming on it. OH asked what it is called but I can't remember

Tecwyn

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 22 Dec 2014 20:55

That's true. The trouble is the media hype the children up and that makes it difficult for parents. Too much excitement.

I must be off to pick up the children. Hopefully I will catch up with you later - after the cinnamon toast of course :-D
